Ive just got a TRX 4 Ford F150 high trail metallic brown yesterday and haven't even driven it once because the weather is really heavy rain here in Melbourne Australia for the last week. I picked up some 1.9 Traxxas wheels too , they're from the Landrover defender from Traxxas. I already thought this truck is a little high and top heavy and didn't look quite right with the 2.2 wheels and larger tyres. Dont get me wrong, it looked great but not really to scale like you might actually see in a full size vehicle. So I reckon the standard 1.9 wheels look more realistic. Some people even remove the portal axles with a portal delete kit from SSD. Great video man. Im subscribed too👌👍
I didn't care for the 2.2 use as much either. Although they do look great for stock tires and they perform quite well for stock tires.I think about just kind of like the smaller tire myself. Although I do want a set of those Ford 2.2s, they look like the aluminum slots I grew up with.
I'm sticking with the stock shocks but I have a different setup. I have vitavon axle housings with brass and I removed the limiters on the shocks themselves. Running 1.9 proline boggers which are 5.4 inches tall. The K10 High Trail is my favorite of all my Traxxas fleet. 72 K5 79 Bronco on 5.8 swamps Defender and Trx6 Hauler
Any issues with the vitavons? Mine lasted 5 mins after install. The stabilized bracket broke making the front axle worthless cuz the dont sell a replacement part for it. Tried to get in touch with them via email and facebook. The marked my emails as spam and blocked me on fb. Guess their customer service isnt the best. Hope yours dont break.

I just got the metallic blue high trail today to add to my growing collection lol I have a red high trail , a black and red blazer , a black 79 blazer , a black 69 blazer and defender love all of them
@EZBOY,RC That's the same for me. The stock suspension worked great but finding something aftermarket that is way better is always key. I'm still waiting on my esc to come back so I can put it back in after the thing burnt up. Warranty is great it's just the time of waiting 😆

When I was 9 we didnt have an option for real shocks, but my grandfather had a wood and metal lathe and grandfather made sure I had real shocks, but I ask if he could make them out of brass from a brass bar I had, and that's what they were built out of, real cool for my rc cuz the new motor mean green, could keep the front on the ground any more, and it was brass that was the answer
I had some plastic ring spacers that I put on the screw up top. One of my other trucks is just left loose. It doesn't hurt it to Move back-and-forth it actually helps get more flex
I've been beating myself up over lowering or keeping it high..I think I'm going the route you went. 120mm desert lizard. But what tire size 1.9 ? And what tire is it ?
They are easy to set up. Put the round rubber piece that has 2 holes in it on the shaft. Put your softest two springs inside the small one underneath the big one on top
@@ezboyrc553 I just have trouble with putting it on my actual trx4 k5 blazer there is to much of a gap and the stock shocks are way different from dessert lizard. The shims on the dessert lizard don’t go on the holes
The desert lizard are my favorite, I run them on all my rigs. Well my trx4s anyways. Rc4wd makes that mickey tompson in a 2.2. They're 5.7 inches tall so on the tall side. I have 2.2 interco boggers on my hightrail and they're 5.7as well. They fit though

I got the 120s but how are you guys mounting them to the truck? Am i missing pieces? Lol the black piese for the top tube mount is to small, the stock trx4 stainless ones are completely different... lol. Help please
Actually at the very top where my shock amounts to the truck. I don't have a spacer on Either side it just has the screw going through it in the shock. It kind of wiggles around at the top. But that's okay.

@Boston Auto & Detail It comes with 2 sounds programmed in it and this is one of them I believe. For any other sound it has a USB port you plugged the sound simulator into and then hook it to your computer and you can pick from a lot more sounds.
@Boston Auto & Detail There is too big V8 sounds on there. Somebody actually donated this one to me and they may have already Selected the sound before they sent it. Because I have heard another V8 sound it's not the same.

I never really had any complaints with stock suspension on the high trail but now that I've changed it and It's night and day difference.

How did you get the top part of the shock to not move back and forth on the shock tower/mount bracket? I can't seem to figure that out?

How did you mount the shock on the top? Did you add some spacers?
I just put the ball in the shock and they kind of slide around up and there. no spacers. It allows for more flexibility. Lol
Please make a tutorial step by step on how you installed.. I have a trx4 k5 blazer and I been stuck 2 hours in my first shock I can’t figure it out

What weight of shock oil are you using?
I'm not sure but I usually run a pretty thick oil but my bottle doesn't tell me what it is I've had it for a while and somebody gave it to me.
I use rubberbands with the stock shocks. the dezert lizzard are too hard or too soft of a spring.. in my opinion
I love the way they work I've used a different rubber piece on the inside with the amount of fluid that can go through the holes you can adjust
Did the 120mm fit without any modification and did it raise the ride height?
I didn't have any problems. And it actually sets a little lower because I have the softest springs installed four more droop.
