  • The Rapala original floating minnow has been a staple in many people's tackle boxes for decades. It has also been a lure that I have used frequently over the past few years. In this episode, I attempt to catch fish on a small minnow, a medium minnow, and a large minnow. It ended up being a productive day as expected, and the Rapala minnows once again came through for me.

    I take my hat off to you for having a collection you got and would not mind getting my hands on the Black and Gold ones as they were my favorite colors 6 inch as we used to call them papa.

    I started fishing with intent recently. I was told to do a texas rig, a drop shot, and wacky rig for bass. Well the lake where my camp is located is super rocky. I bought two Rapala Originals. Both F9, one gold and the other silver. I caught my first bass with the gold on my third cast. I am hooked. See what I did there? All the best from New Brunswick Canada.

      Right, other baits come and go but these have stood the test of time! No other classic lures work this well 🔥

    One of my all time favorite lures! One of the reasons I don't use them as much is because of all the hooks- when a fish swallows them, difficult to remove- the lures work too good.

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  3 роки тому +2

      Absolutely. They do seem to get swallowed alot! Such a fun lure to use though. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      I use them with inline barbless hooks. Better hookup.

      It increases the chance of fish being hooked n staying on.. I'll take that over losing a fish any day

    That was a very nice job finessing that pickerel out of that snag! Between the light line, the teeth, and the structure, I was shocked it didn't snap you off! Way to keep your cool and get him out!

    I fish from the bank and the lakes, ponds in Northeast Ohio have a lot of weeds most of the year. Early spring, late fall the floating minnow always delivers. I always tie the Rapala loop knot and replaced the trebles with Owner #4 single hooks. Colors, basic minnow and baby pike. Tight lines!

    Cause I’ve been trying to use those lures but I’ve been having really hard time casting them cause how light it is,
    Great video by the way!

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 роки тому +1

      Sure thing! In this video I was using the quantum micro lite spinning combo, with 4 pound test monofilament line. The key isn’t that particular combo, cause any light spinning combo will work. It’s the 4 pound line that gives you that good cast ability. Just make sure you have your drag set right in case you get a big one! 👍
