My father, who's been fishing for well over sixty years, having tired a plethora of baits, trusts and uses this as his primary bass lure in freshwater. It never disappoints.
So does my dad and my papa they always tell me use gold and black rapala no matter the time of year or where your at they will work unless the fish are bedding
I just bought a box of over 700 lures at a garage sale for $100. About 200 of those baits were rapala original floaters in every size and color imaginable. I’m excited to dig through it all and see if there is anything rare. I already own WAY more tackle than I could ever need. I bought all this stuff so I can put together a really nice box at the family lake house that everyone is welcome to use. Friends and family can lose as many as the want to snags and I won’t care…this should keep my private stash of YO-ZURI’s and megabass vision 110’s safe for a long time! 😊
And that would be how? Targeting autumn pike, shallow lake with cabbage beds. Max depth 1.5m-2m. Im twitching suspending jerkbaits mostly, I’m pretty sure this lure might need extra weight to slow rise.
My dad introduced me to this lure over 10 years ago and I've been ripping it every time I go out. If you haven't invested money or time into the lures below, please spend your $7-$10 on these! Silver Fluorescent Chartreuse Rapala floater OR Rainbow Trout Rapala floater WARNING: Don't hook a tree or your own shirt! Not affiliated with Rapala in anyway. Happy fishing all. :)
First hardbait I ever had, was the balsa. Caught so many fish night fishing and my go to near overflows. Had a buddy distract me one night and I stopped cranking for 30+ seconds. A rod twitch later and a toad exploded on it. Buy a couple.
build is really soft like very fragile and its so light it dont cast far. its just a topwater and subsurface minnow lure. many other lures with similar shape will catch the same fish.
I have an entire 3700 box full of these ranging in color and size. It's basically all I fish with. And I wear the fish out with them everywhere I go. My adult kids kayak fish with me and they stay mad at me because they are swapping baits and I keep the Rapala on all day and beat their asses with them. They even try to fish with them on the real slow days but just don't have 40 years experience that I do with them. Awesome baits..
@@austinmedberry4443 I've caught several species with this in salt water, though not marketed as a saltwater lure (not durable for that purpose). I've even caught flounder with a weighted F5 (not a preferred method, but it works).Rapala does make saltwater suspending lures, of course, but the floater works in a pinch. We'd fish for dinner, under the docks along Murrells Inlet, as a kid. If you were hungry, you'd be eating with a floater in your box!
@@austinmedberry4443 were u paying attention? It catches all species fresh or salt although it's better suited for fresh it will work in salt too lol. Know it all, yet you know nothing!
What size you using. Also trout will eat off the bottom all day so put a couple small pinch weights 12" up the line from it to get it out and get it down. And depending on the water you are fishing if go with sizes f-03 or f-05 in silver for clear water
Brett Henning you realize that most bass boats are atound 14-16 feet, right? I will can't imagine that you're only casting 20-30 feet. I hope you're mistaken.
hey Rapala your original floater is one of my go to baits! but I must say the construction of it is very poor at best ! just in the last month I have busted the lips off of at least $100 worth of your lures at 8 or $9 a pop I would think you could put a little bit more time into your product so I can get more than 10 cast out of themď
Your talking about *THe original Finish minnow*? Like these double hook floaters I have with the classic paint job...........I don't think they where intended to be bumped off cover hard but WTF.........they shouldn't be breaking easily. Rapala is one of the oldest lure companies around, call em up and c if they'll take care of you.
Ive had the lips fall off my older Rapalas too. But they were over 2 years old and it consistently happens, but after a couple years! Take better care of them man. It's a 30's design, if they upgrade it than it loses what makes it an effective lure yea? I suggest you buy a Plano 3500 series smaller lure box dedicated strictly for storinh your original floaters. Just my opinion tho
floating raps are garbage unless you're trolling. the suspending jerkbait does all of this and more, all while suspending in the strike zone for as long as you like.
I’m more impressed that you didn’t inhale any of those files or start swatting the air like crazy.
This is really funny! I was thinking the same exact thing!

I’ve been using these lures for over 30 years. Surely during that time I’ve used other brands but Rapala has been my first brand of choice.
Been using them for at least 35 years my best go to bait
one the BEST LURES ever made, its deadly when fished correctly.
And that would be how?

Found a few like that but smaller with two hooks that have rapala Ireland stamped on them , look old but in like new condition
i love this lure just got a northern and a bass 3 hours ago
If I could only have two lures for largemouth bass, it would be this one and a black jelly worm.
My buddy and I caught 50 walleye in 4 hours on the Original Rapala.

My favorite lure
Thanks to Lauri Rapala, that he gave us this great lure!
This thing catches just about everything that lives underwater
That’s how yk it’s a damn good lure
killer bait, over rated my butt this one is a must have. pop your rod tip once in a while on the retrieve and hold on.
redshaftedflicker the b/w floater stays in my tackle box since 10yrs old got a 8+ in Maine with it at 12yrs old been a fav since..catches everything 🎣
Without question, the flying bugs are the star of this video.
that outfit!

caught 7 largemouth in 7 casts just the other day with the f-9. no joke
My favorite with the CD.Y ou can also add a weight a little bit up and do some stop and go
Cant wait untill I actually catch a fish with one 😂
This bait is killer in clear water and near cover
Really can’t really fish it a wrong way. I’ve used it as a surface lure many times and as a jerk bait all with good results.
If you found yourself stranded on a deserted island, this is the lure you want to have.
then it would be salt water stupid not fresh water.

how's it overrated?
The small 3-5 cm are a nightmare to cast even if you have the right gear,
Rapala should make a New small floating minnow bait that cast better
Been trying this for trout and had zero luck. Tried numerous technics and even a warm on the back with zero luck😒

lol why is the beginning theme the same as the elimination song from America's Next Top Model?
How do you even know that? LOL
You should be ashamed of yourself for knowing that.

The "Rapalar Original Floatah".
I cant seem to cast far using this lure.. can u use weights plz reply
juliyan lepcha the only thing i can say is use lighter line i use 12 pound test and i can cast it like 20 to 30 feet
i use lighter spinning gear and 6-8lb line. casts great.
Can't really get the distance on the smaller ones but on a
Bait caster I can get Close to 40 ft with the lager ones . Use a spinning reel
40 feet? that's it? good luck with that

caught my pb pike on this
Rap-A-La not Ra-Pala.

Quality probably has fallen lately as everyone only cares about maximum profits now a days so they cut corners and/or outsource
