Funny coincidence, I ran Hackney Marshes last weekend and I can really recommend it. Part grass and part tarmac path. Very flat. Free parking and toilets. You did great on that run and got a huge training benefit I'm sure. That park looks beautiful and it is great to mix in a tough ParkRun occasionally. Thanks to all the dedicated volunteers making it happen for free! Fantastic 👍 people!!
Thank you for your kind words! Swanley Parkrun can indeed be challenging, but completing it and finishing in one piece is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of. Keep up the great work and happy running!
@@inmruns A pleasure. Thank you for your comments. I will certainly keep up the good work. All the best for The Big Half - I too am doing it. I look forward to seeing your next video.
@@inmruns Many thanks. I will certainly say hello if i spot you either at the race or around Eltham. Greenwich parkrun is my home parkrun and I run around the area regularly.
You forgot to thank all the amazing volunteers who put this "run" on for you. Yes it is a bit harder than it might look and it's essential that new runners listen carefully to the first timers welcome to avoid getting lost 😉 You wont find a more friendly event team though 👍
You're absolutely right, and I apologize for not mentioning the incredible volunteers who make parkrun possible. The dedication and hard work of the event team and volunteers are crucial in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all participants. A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who generously give their time and effort to organize and support parkrun events. Their commitment ensures that runners have a safe and well-organized event to participate in. Their guidance, encouragement, and assistance are invaluable, especially for first-time runners who may be unfamiliar with the course or the event itself. To all the volunteers involved in parkrun, thank you for your selflessness, enthusiasm, and for creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
@@inmruns I've seen a few very complicated courses on youtube (Cusworth Hall being a good example) and it makes me think people getting lost is pretty much expected some places. Double-back here, do a second loop there, then a big loop three times, but on the third time round, turn right at the sign, then repeat the first small loop and cut across the grass. You get the idea. Makes me hug my two-and-a-half loop tarmac local. Cheers for the content
Great video as per usual Ian. Swanley isn’t a great parkrun imo (course wise). Good job you done it in the summer though before it turns into a waterlogged mud bath come winter 👍🏻
Big start sign and banner ✅ Loud bell at start ✅ Pink flags clearly marking course ✅ Clear instructions to keep flags on your right ✅ Friendly volunteers ✅
I think the problem is people worry more about their times and less about having fun running round. They just want easy flat courses, so it looks good on their stats. I saw a grown man have a tantrum and refuse his token at Pwllheli parkrun.
It can be disheartening to witness negative behavior or attitudes during events like parkruns. However, it's important to remember that everyone has different motivations and expectations when participating in such activities. While some individuals may prioritize personal achievements and statistics, others may simply enjoy the experience of running and being part of a community.

Excellent video - many thanks. I have done Swanley Parkrun twice and I agree it is really hard. Happy to finish in one piece!

I've been off course on a parkrun a couple of times. Once explains my parkrun pb of 15 mins when they sent position 1 and 2 short😂
It was my fault there was a lack of oxygen going to my brain during that uphill part 😂
8:25 deviation from course here, as you were knackered and missed the arrow! In fairness, that looks vert complicated.
It happens to the best of us!
It was a bit complex for the first time on this course

But it was a good run with a better time than you thought it would be.
@mijzzzz it felt a lot slower looking back now it wasn't so bad
