Tourette's College Presentation

- Today is my first day of college and I just wanted to film what it was like educating my class. It was a lot easier than I thought and went very smoothly in all my classes. Everyone was very receptive and understanding and some even thanked me for my presentation. Hopefully this will inspire others to educate their classes or relieve some anxieties around educating classmates or coworkers about Tourette's. Like, comment and subscribe if you'd like to see more of my videos and check out my other videos if you want to learn more about Tourette's Syndrome. Thank you! :D
P.S. thank you to all my professors and classmates for allowing me to explain my condition and for being so understanding.

Your a good public speaker(even with tourettes).
Thank you for the compliment. However, I'd like to add that I don't think Tourette's has to do with my public speaking ability. It's just a bit of extra background noise :).
True
Snapple and Cats! I know i am late but what i got from drummer is that your a good public speaker. See with alot of people it could be hard with tourettes. Like for me it would make me embarrassed and makes me scared. You on the other hand you didn't let it stop you. If that makes sense.
Better than me
I can't believe no one had more questions, I'd be so interested to hear your experiences, I definitely would have asked some. Fabulous speaking though, I can't even speak in public.
Charlotte Vine why didn't you ask the questions in your comment?
Charlotte Vine I stutter way too much. O.o
Agreed.
She is in school idk but most of them were probably not listening or too scared to ask but I dont really know. I would be too shy because she is also recording for youtube.
Nobody can speak in public without prior experience.
The "nene" or "nana" and "fidget" is so cute. I knew about tourettes but I always thought it had to be swearing or just inappropriate stuff, I had no idea there was a scale. I work in a cafe and the guy I was serving asked me about a drink and in the middle of it just went "YEE" really loudly and it scared me until maybe 10 seconds later and then all through our convo and I realised it was tourettes. Unfortunately my coworkers started laughing cause they thought he was doing it to be funny. I explained that he couldnt help it and they understood afterward. This was quite informative, thank you :)
Tiffany It makes me so happy to hear about people making a difference in the real world! Really, you educating your coworkers is amazing. And most people unfortunately know about the swearing side from the media. It's really not their fault, it's just that a lot of false information has been spread around. But you educating people in real life helps fix that massively. Thank you!
Tiffany same thing happens to me in class. I’ve noticed that the guy I liked maybe had Tourette’s so I informed him about it like this. “Hey, have you been like doing some stuff that you can’t control?” He answered with a yes. The rest of the convo. “It might be Tourette’s you could go online and look through it. I hope I don’t offend you or anything” he was my best guy friend so it was kinda weird having to talk so formally. The next day he didn’t show up at school. The day after that he did show up and told me he had gone to the doctors and he diagnosed with Tourette’s.
I still like him Tourette’s didn’t change anything. Soon enough karma came back to me in a good way. And I am now dating a wonderful guy with Tourette’s syndrome!
My ex has TS. I'm thankful to have learned about it from him.
I thought she said banana
Tiffany I like the fuck off
I don't know why, But sometimes I watch videos about tourettes sometimes just to educate myself. I mean i'm only 12 but it's better to educate myself at a young age.
That's awesome! When I was 12, I was still making dumb jokes about people with Tourette's, believe it or not. I wish more people were educated earlier. Keep learning!
You have a really good attitude and spelling for ur age
Same. But I’m thirteen though. 😊
Mounia Me too. 😊
Same I'm thirteen and I've been watching so many videos like this with OCD and DID :)
The cutest tics I've ever seen 😂😂
K STORM it's not cute.
it is..i understand her condition..but its so adorable...
whiteteethteen she's cute so calm down
whiteteethteen your comment is not cute or cool. Who raised you...
@@constanzaaarociolg9726 yes it is. And you are the only one with problems with it, so i guess you can just not say that.. sorry, just-
Our disability is really annoying
I really hope there is a cure soon
I sing so much to stop them i have sore throats about once a week
Its one of my insecurities
Robbie Ridgeway I hope there's a cure too. I don't think we have to be insecure about it, though that's much easier said than done. But I actually think it's good to practice self-confidence, if not to address our own insecurities, but to address other people's reactions as well. People treat me better when I'm confident (not everyone, but most people), so I'm as unapologetic about my Tourette's as possible. Usually, people that surround us mirror the attitude we have about Tourette's, so I try to set the example. Really hope this helps!
making videos like this helps so much, because you're spreading awareness so that people will start funding the search for the cure, i have never heard of this before, never knew it existed, so i think its important to spread more awareness
So singing helps? I find that interesting really. I love music.
Maryam Rodgers anything involving concentration can help and most people with tourette's will have some activity or another that helps.
Snapple and Cats! Oh okay, cool. Thanks for replying!
This is so random but you look like Stevonnie from Steven universe! 🌠
• amber knowles • So, I haven't seen Steven Universe, but I just looked her up and you're totally right haha.

I really want to be this girls friend! She is so adorable and good for her for educating people!
The «nene» and «nana» is so cute and the litte curse
This was enlightening and heartwarming. Keep it up!
I’m surprised no one had questions? I wouldn’t have said anything during the class but after it was over I’d love to ask questions. I don’t have Tourette’s but I do have small ticks sometimes and I find it really interesting. Also I really admire your public speaking! It’s really amazing when I see people who are able to get up in front of a group of people and just talk, it’s really cool.
Not to sound weird but your tics are really cute??? Like the words + the fact that you have a really nice voice.
Bruh, I don't mind hearing her tic all day, like, "cups" and "chipsy" are the cutest shit ever
I had really bad tics and would get make fun of at school. I told my teacher NOT to talk about it to the class because that would make me stand out more. She did but not only that, but she literally did my tic to show them what I do and it was so embarrassing. I got made fun of more
bro I’m so sorry that happened :(
I appreciate people who do this a lot because when you have a disability that stands out I know some people don’t like others to draw attention to it but I feel like if you first explain what’s going on then that attention being drawn won’t be as great. If that makes sense.
When I was in elementary school a boy in my class was going bald and people didn’t understand why so many people stared at him in the class or asked questions which he didn’t feel comfortable answering so about a week after school started his mom came in to speak to the class about it.
She explained what it was (I can’t remember exactly what it was but it was something that ran in his family and he all the sudden ended up having it that makes your hair fall out and stop growing back) she explained that he will be living like this probably for the rest of his life and then at the end she showed the class the bald spot on his head that was about half of his head now.
That speech might have been hard for him or embarrassing but in the long run he did become more open and happy within the classroom because we all just stopped wondering about it. After that speech we quickly got used to it which made him more comfortable the rest of the year.
Disability are one thing we as children never learn about in school so when we see someone that’s different we look and ask questions but those questions are usually shut down by adults who say it’s inappropriate to ask those questions. If we just learn about this stuff I feel like society, especially kids, will be more understanding, knowledgeable, and accepting of people with disabilities.
I was wondering why she said “cup” like at the most unfitting points and then I was like “ohhh there was something” 😂
Seeing things like this makes me sad in sort of a good way. seeing people with Tourette’s makes me feel bad like they are suffering but seeing how much they are doing well makes it better. Good for you for being so forward and comfortable
Does the word ''cup'' mean anything to you. I notice most videos i see on youtube its people saying ''mean'' things or jerking, but you dont really swear much with yours. I think you're brave for making this video, props to you.
I actually answer this question in the last video I made, A Tired Response to Some of my Comments.
Scorpion Soul
speechless. your amazing keep up the good work. never give up
Thank you!
no problem keep up the great work
That “cup” and “fidget” GOD I WISH MINE WERE LIKE THAT
my tics are just weird sounds and neck movements lol
Wow i adore how confident you are
she's so adorable
this really made me smile. i am not affected by it or no anyone personally who is but i think its amazing you want to educate people on things like this. You're beautiful and unique, dont let anyone take that away from you. much love
You are amazing!!! So FREEKING inspirational!!! Keep it up! ❤️
do you ever hurt yourself with your tics? I noticed you hitting your chest and it looked to be at least a bit painful. have you ever had another tic that was more painful? I love how you approach your classes by educating them
She’s so pretty! Happy she’s very calm with speaking to a group of people! Hope she’s doing awesome in college.
You are very brave! It takes a lot of courage to speak in front of a group of people when you are having tics. I am impressed. Respect!
The thing is that the longer you listen, the less you notice tics. So people should really educate themselves to get some insights and become more accommodating. Thank you for this lovely video!
Her voice is adorable none the less as well as her amazing public speaking voice. She seems so comfortable.
This is such a terrible condition people have to endure every single day of their life. It has to get very brutal dealing with the stares, being made fun of, people clueless to the condition and being ridiculed. This young lady did a great job with her talk. 👍
She’s so pretty and these ticks are actually really cute 😭😫. She’s also a much better public speaker than I could ever be. How do people get the confidence to not fall apart during public speaking, Tourette’s or not. It’s such a skill
As a young kid with undiagnosed tics, this is so inspirational. Thank you.
She is so brave, if I had tics I could never I would be so shy to present.
Intelligence at its most unique. Bless you.
I dont have Tourette’s but I do have tics it sucks, your so brave🥺
Im 16 and have the exact same story as you. I was also recently diagnosed with tourettes but before that only had small tics :) and mine are getting worse. I didnt know how to deal with it but this video made me feel so much better, that there is another youngster like me:). Im also going to college next year and idk what im going to do, i tend to hold my tics in and then I cant focus in class and my grades slip. but perhaps, I will let my classmates know :) . In Hs, only my teachers knew but they wernt very supportive, most never taught somone with tourettes. Also, i have some same tics as you! Keep it up , I am very proud of you and you inspire me to educate others and diminish ignorance :)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ben Hen This is so fantastic to hear! I mean not that your tics are getting worse, but that this video resonated with you. That's honestly the stuff that keeps me going.
i’m just glad no one laughed while she had tics. other than that you are a very public speaker! i’m happy for you!
Wow she's amazing and brave just speak about what she has God bless her .
the little "cuh" is adorable
“Fidget” “Cup” “Nana!” “Jisoo”
Adorable
I feel like such a wimp. I have problems with public speaking, even in small groups with people I've known for years. And you are up there without a care in the world. You are awesome.
You're a brave and great soul...I also watch QBall, as both of you are real positive, as you both channel this condition with a persevering humor...Your actual tics I find cute as well...God bless, as you have courage most only dream of having!
She's adorable, smart and a great speaker! Takes great courage.
you are so pretty!!!
That little high pitched grunt at about 1:49 is exactly the same as one of my tics!
Girlllll. You are too cute! I wish you the best of luck in your life. If anyone gives you a hard time , I will beat them up! You’re too precious and pure for this world✨
i honestly still cant give a presentation in front of a class like she did, even with the tics she managed to keep track of all her thoughts , very proud of you
I really appreciated this video. I think it's important to be educated about this kind of stuff. Thank you! ❣️
She is beautiful 😍
You speaking gives me goosebumps cause it’s so rare but so beautiful, I hope you don’t see it as a bad thing just something that came along for the ride
Awesome video! Thanks so much for the information!
You have a great way of presenting yourself! You come across as really confident and natural.
Your are amazing....thanks for sharing your story with all of us and keep on telling your story to others who don't understand!
Hello, person who's decided to give up time to read this comment. I'm Violet and I'm twelve years old. As someone with ADHD, I do understand the need to make noises, though definitely not the same. It's more of an impulse, not a need. I'm watching these to educate myself, but also to get a bit of comfort from the noise. It's calming and feels normal. I really like it. Good job putting yourself out there and being so confident!
Ahhahaa when she cursed hahah so cute lol
no sweety you need to go english school like right now
The comedic timing of that swearing tic 👌
She is beautiful as hell
Keep doing what your doing, it takes a lot of bravery... and honestly your a great public speaker too!
I love your attitude to it ❤️❤️❤️
10/10 would marry.
I'm so happy to see someone else who had it get worse in their adulthood. I'm one of those people, and I feel like I'm the only one.
I’m not quite sure why this appeared in my recommended but I’m glad it did. I’ve never really looked into this syndrome but it’s quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I have two main tics.
I have head tic, so it shakes every few minutes (usually very subtly -- it is more noticeable when I am tired or anxious.)
I also have one where I touch my mouth while smacking my lips (like a non-vocal "puh;") then slide my hand down to my throat while clicking my tongue. That doesn't happen as often as the head tic, but, it also happens more when I am tired or nervous.
Your so awesome !!
Spread awareness girl!!!!
Your videos are really inspiring to watch. You seem like a very inteligent young woman and I couldn't begin to imagine the frustrations caused by living with touerettes. You look like you take it in your stride tho. which is really awesome to see !
I absolutely love how you were able to get up in front of the class and explain yourself so confidently. Also you are so pretty!! Love your hair and eyes!! 😇
My brother has autism and ADHD so I was introduced into different syndromes and illnesses early and I love exploring how to help people and act around people with different disabilities and I even have learn some sign language (abc’s, how to say my name, and how to say I’m learning sign) there are so many different disabilities out there and the fact that the only ones I’ve seen are autism, ADHD, blindness, and deafness! I don’t plan on becoming a therapist because I have my problems too and I generally suck at helping people but the more information out there the more I know!
I love your hair 😊😊😊

My son is 15, he has a genius IQ. I let him watch your videos and planted the seed to one day develop successful treatment or even a cure. I have Crohns disease, so I can very much relate to the exhaustive mind, body states during my flare ups. God Bless
I have been watching these videos for a while now and I'm extremely interested my friends say "oh you only 11 you don't need to know this"
I really love your UA-cam channel name it’s so cute! 🥰
I agree. It's cute. The tics are cute
But sometimes painful, so nobody should wish to have tics
Please do not call tics cute
You are an inspiration.
Hello! I just want you to know that you are extremely brave for talking aloud with your condition, I have epilepsy so i twitch, and naturally stutter A LOT i avoid confrontation with people but i am starting to open up as i grow. Thank you!💖💖💖🌹
Your hair 😍😍😍 all of you really 😍😍😍
This swearing is so sweeeeeeet! !!!!! Lovely girl! She should be on tv!

I don't know why I find such interest in Tourette's bc I've never met anyone with it, but it's really interesting and I'm happy to see your living happily with it and spreading awareness.
I love your videos and your attitude... keep doing what you are doing...
