I caught a 5 1/2 a couple years ago on a tiny ultralight and 6 lb line using a crappie jig. I was fishing from the bank by a dock. When she hit it she ran straight under the dock and out the other side ,drag was a screaming. I just held on and let her wear herself out and slowly worker her back to me through the maze of post under that dock. It was a miracle that I landed her. Thanksgiving day this year I hooked another one about the same size on the same rod and bait. This time I was on the boat, I wore her down and reached to get my net , it was tangled up in another rod. I got the net loose and went to get her , she opened her mouth the bait popped out. I tried to swoop her up but I missed lol it was a good fight though. I like your fish finder, I can't afford one of those. I was wondering , do you have any recommendations for a good affordable unit that will work well in a shallow lake ( 12 feet or so)? Thanks, I enjoy your videos . Happy New year to you and Ms.Liz , I hope she is doing well with the pregnancy etc. May the Lord Bless You in all you do :-) Bp
Wasn't using an ice rod but have landed several 30-35 inch pike and a 7 lb 2 oz walleye while crappie fishing with a 1.5" tube and 4 lb mono. Some of the most exciting fish catches ever!
If someone told me, 5 and 6 pound bass on 4lb test, I would have given them a funny look. Great job on those! I'm also amazed at how no matter how excited you get, you voice barely comes above a whisper!
By far you guys are my favorite you tubers. Great video. It was recently negative 5 here for the high. Wish there was some open water. Bought that same rod a couple days ago and am looking into ice augers. Burr.
Great video! That water temperature is crazy! I'd love to see more of these light tackle videos. My biggest fish through the ice was a 5.1 pound brown trout in CT, caught while jigging with a Rapala Jigging Rap with 6 pound mono rigged on a cheap South Bend reel with a medium light Berkley Lightning Ice rod. Cheap reels like a South Bend or Shakespeare are perfect for ice fishing only. I've landed a few bass like that 6 pound pig you caught on 6 pound mono with a 5'6" medium light spinning rod, mostly during the pre-spawn stages up in CT. It takes skill, along with the right line and drag, to catch bigger fish on lighter gear.
Very nice 1st catch! Ive used 6# line on an ultra light pole during the spawn catching 4lbers and some 5s. So much fun. I can only imagine 4# on an ice fishing rod. Good stuff!! Tight lines to you and liz.
The only person on UA-cam to outfish Bamabass... Mrs. Bamabass! Didn't land it but I've had a 7pd crush a cricket trying to catch baitfish with a tiny #8 circle hook. Just not enough hook to land a bigger fish!
It's been below freezing for weeks, and the warm front is coming in, I plan on going pond hopping this Thursday, I'm just about an hour north of you and I would like your insight on what I should throw. Probably be out from 6am-2pm. Thanks
Pretty wild seeing you fish off a jon boat with similar gear to what we use on the ice in 0 degree weather, but awesome results! Can't imagine Alabama bait shops stock many ice fishing getups?
what drop shot hooks do you use? looks like VMC spin shot. i just bought some gamagatsu twist free. they looked good because you don't have to to tie a knot on the bottom. they work like the drop shot weights.
Good job getting a strong-enough hook set with #1-soft rod and #2-a short rod (lever), surprised the short rod was able to take up the slack on hookset!
Love this style of fishing and actually caught my PB like this .... 4' crappie rod and 4# line. She was just over 8.5 lb. Nothing like it for sure. Thanks for sharing this one!
Didn't take long. From the IGFA website Christmas came late for Robert Crupi in 1990. On the morning of December 28, 1990, Crupi was fishing his usual spots on Castaic Lake, working a crippled herring jig in about 40 feet of water after marking some fish on his electric paper graph (precursor to modern day bottom machines). After catching several crappie and smallmouth bass, Crupi dropped the jig down again, but this time he hooked something big. The fish effortlessly stripped the 4 lb monofilament off his reel, and stayed deep for approximately 15 minutes. Finally, the fish surfaced about 50 yards from the boat and Crupi realized what he had been fighting. Fishing alone, Crupi managed to net and land the fish by himself - logging his second world record, a 17 lb 1 oz fish for the men’s 4 lb line class record.
That was cool on the Ice Fishing rod.. I caught my first on Saturday at a private pond.. but my challenge was a freaken hound form hell.. it was so funny.. this dog's bark was so loud man.. LOL anyway.. nice video brother.
Can’t say I’ve caught many bass on a ice jigging rod, but I did catch a 42 inch muskie on one when I was young. 4 pound test. Can’t believe it didn’t bite the line, but I landed it
Questions about plastic worms. If a fish "eats" the plastic worm are they be able to pass it through their system or do they spit it out? Will plastic lures that get lost, bio-degrade over time?
Fought a carp I snagged for almost 2 hours on 6lb mono ultralight rod. Snagged him on the tail with a tiny little Ned rig jumped in our paddle boat and let him pull me around all over. Was literally pulling seaweed off the line as I was reeling him in don't know how it didn't break off. Got a 48 lb scale it was maxed out with him on it before i could even lift him up off the boat floor. State record is 55 here is MO, def think I would have got it but I let her go. Don't know if snagging would have been a legal catch. Still wish I would have called it in
I may have found a new favorite fishing technique! What is the biggest bass you have ever caught on light tackle?
BamaBass my friend caught a 5 pounder on an ultralight, the drag was screaming, it was crazy.
BamaBass I caught a 3 1/2lber on a cane pole and then last year I caught a 3lber on 2lb test mono and a dock demon spinning rod
About 1 1/2 inches
Are y’all gonna feed Bonnie and Clyde and sheriff mice or snakes?

Great catch. Proof that drag settings, skill and light line equals big fish.
*Catching Bass for Cash*
this is amazing
Thanks for the tips and advice. Something I'll look forward to do in Minnesota for ice fishing.

Beautiful fish! Wish you guy could come up to Guntersville Lake and fish with us!
By far you guys are my favorite you tubers. Great video. It was recently negative 5 here for the high. Wish there was some open water. Bought that same rod a couple days ago and am looking into ice augers. Burr.
SuperCoyotecaller agreed this channel is pure, wholesome, and good for the soul. Always puts me in a better mood.
Glad to see y'all back on the water!
Ur so chill when u get a good fish😎
It looks like you have more control with the drop shot. Looks like a ton of fun too!
that was great to watch and it looked like a lot of fun!!! GOOD to see you out on the water again....
Thanks for another great video...one of these days I'll learn to catch em like you do.

Seeing these bass fight on these crazy light gears are just insane
Winter techniques for pond fishing would be a cool video
Are you telling me you cant boat flip that one? Lol
Pretty wild seeing you fish off a jon boat with similar gear to what we use on the ice in 0 degree weather, but awesome results! Can't imagine Alabama bait shops stock many ice fishing getups?
That was an Amazon order for sure!
Awesome video Bama. Great fight on that 4 lb test!
i have that same set up for perch up in ontario canada, last summer caught a 25" pike on an ice fishing rod fishing for bass in a creek
Awesome video...I watched it from the beginning to the end
Thanks bud.
Awesome video! Ultra light fishing is a blast so using an ice rod would likely be even more fun!

You know when BamaBass says giant you better get excited
Great video thank you for posting and I'm going to do more light tackle fishing now!
Love this style of fishing and actually caught my PB like this .... 4' crappie rod and 4# line. She was just over 8.5 lb. Nothing like it for sure. Thanks for sharing this one!
Nice! I wonder what the all time record bass on light line is?
BamaBass. - Gonna have to see if I can find out now that you brought it up!

That's unreal!
Love all your vid almost to 200k and my best bass cought was a 5 pounder
Does he use monofilament on all his setups? (Besides frog fishing)
Love the videos! Learned alot from you brother I been wating for you to post some Winter Largies getting put on the BOAT!!!
Wow great video man!!! I enjoyed this. Can’t believe the first one was 6 pounds 😂😂 that’s something that’s been on my bucket list too haha.
How about fishing with a fish head spin and a keitech trailer like when you were fishing Dream Strike lake, nice job and video.
That was cool on the Ice Fishing rod.. I caught my first on Saturday at a private pond.. but my challenge was a freaken hound form hell.. it was so funny.. this dog's bark was so loud man.. LOL anyway.. nice video brother.
Good job bro!! You smacked em!

New to Bass fishing and the drop shot technique just wondering on what hook you where using in this video?? Thanks
CRAAAAZY! Nice job 👍👊
I love fishing with light tackle!
That’s exactly what it’s like to catch bass through the ice! They fight soooo hard.
Would love to come fish with you some time. Big game tonight roll tide.
Last night here in northern Ontario it was -37 Celsius
The lakes and ponds are frozen here... it's a struggle, I'm broken inside.
Evan Swink same
Crazy? That's amazing, 6 lbs., that is a nice start.
How about using your animated lure with a bobber to set the depth I think there are a lot of us that would like to see a demo of that.
Great video! And congrats on your start of 2018 with those hogs on a drop shot!!
Can you come to Byhalia Mississippi to visit and maybe we can do some bass fishing me and my dad will love for you to visit us
You should do a winter frog fishing challenge and a frog ice fishing rod challenge
Good shit man. How far are u from Montgomery? Or Jacksonville Fl
Ice fishing rod+Open water=Ice fishing in Alabama!
Can’t say I’ve caught many bass on a ice jigging rod, but I did catch a 42 inch muskie on one when I was young. 4 pound test. Can’t believe it didn’t bite the line, but I landed it
Lunker! Well played!
Epic video!!!
Questions about plastic worms. If a fish "eats" the plastic worm are they be able to pass it through their system or do they spit it out? Will plastic lures that get lost, bio-degrade over time?
I fish magnum flukes on a fenwick eagle spinning rod and it's a blast lol
Where do i send a fish feeding video for the end of your video? :)
Do some carolina rig fishing videos
More winter techniques!!!
Nice fish. 👍🏻
What humminbird depth finder is that
What brand of hook did you use in the video
On my ice rod my biggest bass is almost 6 1/2 pounds on a fluke, but the biggest fish I have caught on it was a 17 pound grass carp!
What kind of ice fishing rod is that?
When are you going to try to catch a crappie for your aquarium?
I have that exact same fishing set up!
GOOD VIDEO🎣
what is that ice fishing rod is called.
Well done! Thank you.
What size hook were you using?
Thanks that was awesome
Do a Muskie lute challenge!!!!!!
I knew you still fished, lol!
What is the name of the dropshot/swivel combo and where can it be purchased? Thanks.
Found it - Gamakatsu Swivel Shot G-Finesse Drop Shot at TackleWarehouse
Good stuff 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks 305
I want to see this during the summer
Like I said in the video, you should never try this in the Summer ;)
A fine bass! I caught a 28 lb channel cat through the ice on a shitty ice rod. Thank god for Fireline.
I bet that was fun!
Jigger pole fishing please, I've never seen it and wonder why it's against all tournament rules
You should try to catch shad
Shad only feed on zooplankton so that's impossible lol
Pear Fishing thats not true just look up fishing for shad
Well I guess you need a size 16 hair jig or a sabiki rig
He can just throw a cast net and catch lots
Cade Whitmore i ment with a rod and reel
First I Love u guys 🙏plz reply I have a pet bass too
, I have a pet bass too* lol😂😂
Who would dislike this video
You could do a knockoff lure challenge, it would be cool to see how the cheap lures compares to the high quality lures
What rod is that
Sweet video
I didn’t weigh it but I caught a 22in bass on a 24in dock demon rod and reel
Show the battery powered lure
No content on my channel! Everything froze here in Va!
I would pay good money to fish that pond lol
WOW you got all the luck. You can share the luck lol.
What dropshot hook were you using?
1/0 Gamakatsu www.bamafrogs.com/collections/terminal-tackle/products/gamakatsu-swivelshot-dropshot-hook?variant=3513546945
It hasn't been over 32°f in two and a half weeks so consider yourself lucky you have water to fish
