It's Sean...probably one of the only interviewers that actually has a conversation with the actors/celebrities and not just the gossip the media wants.
hot ones always has the best interviews with celebs. Shawn asks actually thought full questions about the guest, not just the same generic stories that gets repeated on every other talk show. and i would say this is the best one so far

All started with Narcos and that still may be his best role to date, though TLOU is coming close.
This was probably the funniest send off. The mention of his dental issues, the slow turn to the other camera and "you should know this too" and the whole bit at the end was fantastic comedically.
I really hope he continues to go in the direction of comedy because he has been fantastic in those roles.
I legit think Pedro's the only famous person I would like to meet cause he's so relatable and feels like someone you feel safe and conformable with, even if you don't know them. Also, great interview with really thoughtful questions. Loved it!

Yes! It’s what makes these such great interviews! Like, even minus the whole hot sauce piece of it, these are always just quality interviews. Not constantly asking the same boring questions we see on any other show. The guests are actually interested because they get to talk about more than normal.
He takes a page from James Lipton's book. He specialized in the surprisingly personal questions for his guests. Sean and his team must do lots of research.
I love that he asks good questions that you would believe that interviewers want to ask when they start out. He doesn’t ask about weight, or looks, or relationships. I love it. These are my favourite interviews because of the honour and respect for each guest on the show

Pedro talking about becoming hyperaware of what the actors are physically going through in films he watches (and how his family gets annoyed when he brings it up) is so relatable as an animator! I'll be watching a cartoon and saying things like "why did they animate that on ones? the lipsync is too smooth!" and my roommates will just stare at me 😅

My only knock with Sean's interview style is that he's pretty rigid and sometimes he fails to improvise to something that's happening but instead continues to what sounds like reading off the cue cards. Don't get me wrong I love how in-depth he goes but the way he presents it just sounds read off a teleprompter and not conversational.

We showed our professors hot ones, these are people in the industry for years. One of them is the NHL announcer for my city . They were so impressed with Sean. These are people who interviewed major bands like black sabbath, motley Crüe, etc. you bring up a valid point but I don’t think there is anyone that does it better .

As someone who was traumatized by Oberyn's death, hearing how comfortable and calm Pedro was brought me great joy.
Same here! I had nightmares for weeks, probably because I liked his character so much and I was not expecting that gruesome death.
I had read the books and knew he was going to die, but Pedro had done such an amazing job making you like and root for the character that my brain just ignored what it knew, and I nearly threw up when he died. One of the most visceral reactions I've ever had to a piece of media. I knew it was going to happen and was still somehow blindsided by it.

I'm certain there were plenty of questions around this topic that came up with the hot ones writers and it goes to show the deep level of research they do that they didn't include any of those questions because they're so frequently asked. Just about every celebrity gets elevated by Sean's interview style and the quality of the questions.
There are exceptions (DJ Khaled, whichever Kardashian it was who did the show-they're all interchangeable anyway-and Gordon Ramsay), but for the most part it's hard not to like a celebrity more after watching them do Hot Ones.
“Can somebody step in here and let me bite into their flesh? Can somebody give me a cup of blood?” Pedro really started resorting to cannibalism the second the food got spicy

He’s a chameleon and he knows it and enjoys it. He’s never afraid to look silly or scruffy, and he prefers it to worrying about looking model-perfect.

Such a wonderful touch that he turned to have the side "that melted away" in darkness to emphasize his point.
