I appreciate this broadcast. I will be 70 in a few weeks. I am a never-married Black female with no family. Social Security (less than $900 a month) is my only income and Medicare is my only insurance. I live in subsidized housing. I am not a worrier but I am concerned. There's a good chance I'll be homeless in the next two years. If one more person tells me, "We'll get through this. We've survived worse" I think I will scream. Also infuriating to hear "You are not alone" since I actually am.
Hey. I'm 59 and white, but everything else you've said is true for me, too. I'm terrified, and thinking that we older leftists really need to get together, in person, to pool all of our resources. I respect that you've had a much harder time of it in this country than I have, but I believe they intend to finish us off--the old, poor, sick, disabled.m, etc. We'll do better as an aggregate
@@juliadixon8465 "Strength in numbers" was my first thought after the election and I'm doing what I can to connect with others but it's a challenge for introverts in era when individualism has been pounded into the national psyche for decades. I never try to figure out who's had a harder life; something that crushes one person's spirit inspires another to do great things. We're each unique -- and yet, as VP Kamala Harris often reminded us, there is more that makes us alike than makes us different. As a cancer patient my GP called me the day after the election to make certain I was ok. She said she was calling all her cancer patients because she understood the possible consequences for all of us. Particularly anyone whose insurance was through the affordable care act. People forget that before that act our cancer would be considered a preexisting condition. We would become uninsurable. I am a gun owner with prior law enforcement training. My advice if you think you need to get one; go to a gun range, rent a gun to learn to shoot. People usually have one of two reactions their first time; 1. I love it, I feel empowered, I'll do the work, get the training, etc., and 2. Oh shit, not for me. Get a gun safe, keep it in your bedroom, make sure it has a biometric lock. Quick open by fingerprint, so the kids can't get to it, and make sure it's mounted to a wall, or large piece of furniture, so it can't be stolen. I don't understand keeping an unloaded gun locked up with the ammo in a different secured location...I keep mine loaded in the safe, ready to go. Likely any intrusion would be late at night when I'm in bed, so it's within close reach of my bed. You also have to get that mind-set of "if it's my life or theirs, I'm OK with taking a life". I'm 100% there as a survivor of abuse. I've never had a concealed carry permit before, didn't think I needed it, but I've scheduled a class to get that permit next month.
even though I am completely against owning or using a gun, what you said makes complete sense to me. So many people here saying to keep the ammo seperate. Then how foolish would you feel if an intruder was in your house, you have your gun ready but the ammo is kept in the basement...
You forgot to tell the White liberal women especially, to be wary of Black men. Ever go to your ATM machine at night? It ain't those pesky Red Caps that you are nervous about.
I used to work with a nurse who had previously been a cop for over 20 years. She said that if you want to have a gun in your house, you should keep it near you at all times. Otherwise it’s useless. When you need it, you need it right away! Also, she convinced me that a revolver was better to get than an automatic, because there’s less chance of jamming. They’re more reliable.
Women in SC, especially in Nancy Mace's district, need to call her and say how disgusted we are with her targeting Sarah McBride. Remind her how petty this makes her look. How small-minded this makes her look.

She’s an idiot…did a total turn around! And, who’s gonna be checking genitals…they should start with her! Also, she was not the first female to graduate from that male military school! She’s full of herself!
I have already called. Sadly, she pretends to represent me. Ironic how she was the first woman at The Citadel, an all male military college here. She sued to go into what was previously an all male space, because she said it was her right. Weird, isn’t?
I'm not going to apologize for expressing this. If you are a Latin-American who was born here, and you voted for Donald Trump, and now your undocumented parent or grandparent is going to get kicked out of the country, I have zero sympathy for you. You were born and raised here, and you had access to all the same media that I did. Yet you came to the conclusion that that guy was going to do something good for you and your community? Tough shit. Now you get to deal with what you brought on yourself and your family. Unfortunately, your choice will bring serious collateral damage to millions of other people who were not able to vote but who needed your protection. I voted to protect your family. You did not.
66.2% of Americans can't get $500 together for an emergency. They work 2-3 jobs and can't pay rent and buy food for their children. They are extremely time poor. Corporate media sanewashed Trump and normalised his behaviours by not reporting his behaviours. 60% of Americans are reading and writing at a 6th Grade level. 1 in 3 of these are reading and writing at an 8 year old level. This means that they haven't progressed from concrete to abstract thinking. They do not have critical thinking skills to see through corporate sanewashing. Republicans have engaged in voter suppression and racial gerrymandering for decades. Many people couldn't access voting. Both Republicans and Democrats conspired to use the neoliberalist Poverty as a Policy Choice for the last 40 years. Some folks if they missed a shift their kids would not eat. No one sees the media that you saw. The algorithms are worth googling.
Are you aware Biden reversed all of Trumps border policies? This administration had immigrants who crossed the border illegally flown to cities at night. Catholic Charities, Lutheran Charities, Jewish Charities and Hotels gave them shelter . It cost tax payers 66 billion dollars for illegal immigrants in 2023 . They get health insurance, food stamps, credit cards and housing. Trump is starting with illegal immigrants who have a criminal record . The people sucking off the system who are not contributing to society. The deportations haven't started yet . Do you lack empathy for the family of Laken Riley? Are you comfortable knowing people who were convicted of murder roaming free on the streets? Laken Riley fought her attacker for 18 minutes before he beat her to death . Are you against vetting people at the border? Have you buried a loved one or know of someone who buried a loved one because of Fentynal? You have no idea about about what is happening in cities across America. Immigrants from Venezuela who are part of criminal gang are taking over apartment buildings. Is that fair to American citizens?

A little outside of this. As a person who needs to go into semi-hiding... If this society doesn't want me to be around then they don't get my participation in any way including the economy. I am going to quiet quit the entire economy as best I can. Only necessary purchases which I will do without guilt, but don't expect me to take on anything approaching a luxury item or even an everyday random purchase. No candy bars, no picture frames, all my water will come from the tap, nothing that isn't a car payment or necessary gas and bills. I can go 4 years without a acquiring more crap. Instead of spending money all of it will go into savings which will benefit me if I need to leave in an emergency. After the four years is over if there is a political party that I support idealistically, I will benefit them financially with the money I've saved.
Good luck, I hope the tap water is ok in your area, might be worth investing in a purifier system of some kind as I wouldn’t put it past the orange monkey to mess up the water supply
@Saturn_Drawz I've never needed it. Been in plenty of rough situations without one and I'm still here. Never been anti-gun. Been to the range a few times, but never bought my own gun. That's the big difference.
@@Saturn_Drawz I'm obviously not against self defense. I also think people who never bought a gun until now, full grown men in particularly, have no business buying one now. It's clearly not something that they feel comfortable with. My drill sergeant gave me this speech and it stuck to my brain. Your rifle is different than other things. A knife is made to cut food, a axe is made to fell trees. Your rifle was made to kill. She has no other purpose and that is her curse. She wants to kill. She doesn't care who she kills, you or the enemy it's all the same to her. Treat her with respect, fear even, or you will face the consequences.

People who look like immigrants, even if native born US citizens need to be protected too. The mass deportation round-ups will target anyone who looks different, regardless of actual documentation.
The scariest part is this talk of taking away birthright citizenship, meaning not recognizing LEGAL citizenship. It's exactly the slippery slope people have been warning of for decades..😢
I wonder if the advice given here about gathering one's original documentation might be especially helpful for any immigrants (or citizens, for that matter). The simple reassurance in being fairly easily able to locate & secure these documents is going to help me to some degree.
Yes, it’s bad. But look on the bright side, trump’s ultimate goal is to take down the American government. When that happens the UK can come back and take it back over. Please?
I live in Colorado in Leadville, we have always had a huge immigrant population. This week everybody in town is in an uproar over us being a sanctuary city. Texas has bought up the town since covid, and for the first time ever we are faced with the GOP politics. My kids friends are terrified that everyone is going to be deported. And my brutal first thoughts are that getting deported is better than the concentration camps. Damn these kids are DACA kids, most have never even been back to where ever “home” is. This is so sad, and incomprehensible….
The money is in the camps, not deportation. They’ll use the private prison model to siphon taxpayer dollars to their sycophants and leverage slave labor to bring down costs while simultaneously price gouging off the “known” labor shortage from the round ups. You’re right. Deportation is the lesser of the two concerns.
I stopped going in Hobby Lobby when they fought for and won the right to not give their employees birth control as health care. Yep I love their craft stuff but no way they ever get any of my money...
I thought I should apply for a job there and then say I don’t want the profits of my labor being used for non vegetarian meals by the owners because it’s against my moral principles but I figured I’d just be annoying the hiring lackey.

True. As a 72 gay woman you still need to stay safe. Ignorance is different than pure hate, selfrighteous radical religious, fascist ideology, and outright mental twerks of frontal lobe anomalies. Somethings dont ever change with biogots, misogynists and racists. Same with homophobia/transphobia. There are folks who discount science and really believe the creation theory that the earth is only 5000 years old. They will discount known science around homosexuality, gender dysphoria and even birth anonmalies of both sex organs in one person. They're not going to believe it unless it happens in their own families. Forget that its in nature along with a multitude of other things. Although the best thing that I ever did was come out of the closet to my family, I have no illusion that they'll try to slam the door shut first chance they get. Check the Byrna route, not sure if that qualiifies as a firearm under the law (new to me), but bear spray is legal for anyone. Get several, put them in places the kids can't reach, but if they are old enough (12 or so maybe), teach them about the spray, take them out into the woods and practice use. It;s important, no matter what self defence option you choose, to be proficient in use of that weapon. Period. You have to know how to use it by rote, without thinking, in a time of crisis, to protect yourself and the lives of your family. My suggestion is to have several cans, attach two strips of velcro above doors to make two belts, where you can reach, but the kids can't, attach the spray there, so if something happens, you have a can in every room of your house/apartment, and can defend yourself. Bear spray will at least slow them down, while you wait for 911 to respond, as it's similar to pepper spray, but easier to get.
@hysteria podcast as someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, when the government fails to support LGBTQ+ communities, individuals and local organizations can step up to create safe, inclusive spaces. This can include advocating for equal rights at the grassroots level, donating to LGBTQ+ support organizations, providing resources like mental health services and housing assistance, and fostering inclusive environments in workplaces and schools. Small acts of allyship-like standing up against discrimination, using inclusive language, and amplifying LGBTQ+ voices-can make a big difference. The power of community often lies in collective action and mutual care, even in the absence of government support. I really appreciate this podcast.

I'm Japanese-American. My family was in the camps. Despite being citizens. We lost our business and our home. My fiancee is a naturalized citizen, which means she will be targeted by operation "Second Look" to have her citizenship stripped and put in a camp, then deported. My LGBTQIA+ kid and his trans boyfriend are understandably worried right now, and all we've been able to do is reassure them that we are here, we love them, we will continue to support them, and we love them. We love them a lot. I've also made sure to have "the talk," that when, not if, they experience harassment, they can always come to us. They can talk to us, they can rely on us to support them in any way we can. I really don't know what else to do in a concrete way right now. I'm writing this in case anyone else is looking for ideas for how to support their loved ones.
Love your Hobby Lobby talk. I am a huge crafter, and am always very happy to watch the Hobby Lobby ads all the way through so that they have to pay for me to watch the ad -- knowing I will NEVER give them a dime.
11:13 fellas hear me out...a vasectomy will only run you $1200. If you have insurance you wont pay anything up front (even if its not covered) and can put it on a payment plan, I put mine on $100 a month but they would let me go as low as $20. If you dont have insurance you will need to put something down up front but can still do the payment plan. It won't affect how it works, it may even work better than before, and look u dont need blood kids you can adopt some kids that are desperately in need of a loving and caring home whenever you feel ready to do so.
I am lucky that my kids are all grown. They still live with us, because NOTHING is affordable, but I don't have to worry about having young kids around to get ahold of them anymore. I also live on a lot of acres and don't have to go to a gun range. Win win!

I’m a veteran, as is my hubby, and we are worried about the Trump wholesale of VA care. Our community hospitals are already understaffed, they definitely won’t be able to handle overflow from VA patients. Our care has already suffered from the last time his buddies decided to contract care off campus. Things were just starting to get better…🤦🏽♀️ If you’re a vet, and get your care thru the VA? Get everything scheduled asap.
I understand you. I get out in February of 2025. I’m already stuck in a backlog of medical claims, even though I’m on the top of the list. I wasn’t excited about using the VA health system but now I’m scared we’ll lose all our benefits.
@ Stick with it, I know it can feel frustrating and as a vet, ‘sucking it up’ is a hard mindset to kick. Keep your eye on the ball. It will be worth it! Once you finally get your rating, you’ll get assigned a primary care provider. Depending on where you end up setting up home, it can be at a major VA campus or a satellite clinic-often on active bases with medical facilities. Your PC will follow all of your care, and refer you to specialty care. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SEEN AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR!!! In order to keep your VA care benefits, you must use them. Otherwise it starts the whole process all over again. If your rating will be less than 35%…(this number may have changed since 2008) do yourself a favor-unless independently wealthy lol-sign up to continue with Tricare Prime or their alternative programs. Very affordable, immediately available and usually easy to access a base facility or network care. It is usually a more comprehensive program than employment offered medical. I have had really great care through the Northern California VA system. Once you’re in, they are on it. Be your own best advocate until you get what you need. Take care of you. Peace✌🏼🇺🇸

If you want to protect yourself but don't want a regular gun, there are plenty of less than lethal options. Also, use the buddy system if you feel unsafe when you go out.

Mrs. Mastromonaco's thought process on gun owning is a sound one. 1. To get educated and learn to handle and properly discharge a pistol or a revolver. 2. Apply for and get a legal Permit. 3. Buying a gun is always Optional. Well thought. Note: Once you have the education and the permit, you can window shop and browse Non-Lethal Air powered guns or rifles, or Crossbows even.
This is exactly my plan. I have no guns. This weekend I take a permit to carry class. Plan to get a concealed carry permit. Meanwhile, will spend time at the shooting range trying different guns to see what makes most sense for me, take other gun and self defense classes, and get nonlethal weapons and knowledge. Then build muscle memory with safe gun handling techniques, with dry firing first. I’ll get a gun when ready, but not sooner.
@@ashleighnelson512 Hi,@ashleighnelson; if you plan to keep your gun {s} at home and have them for home protection then you do not need a conceal weapons permit. But if you are going to carry it on your person, your handbag, shoulder bag, backpack or your car's glove compartment then the Concealed Permit is a Must. It is the same with Daggers and Switch Blades, contrary to popular belief.
@@MrMonoyoAnother benefit of concealed carry permit is it's not specific to a single firearm. If you're not certain which one you want to buy a concealed carry permit applies to any firearm you may eventually decide to buy
When I was young I taught dance and aerobics and one night after class one of my students was raped and so we became very safety conscious and we had the Portland police come to our little town on the coast and they gave us classes on self defence and there are ways to feel safe as you can without pulling a gun. Gosh life is scary these days - but honestly after having lived 1000 years it has always been an unsafe world - my Dad who was a sniper in ww2 taught me some gross things to do to get away from danger after he saved me from a kidnapper. GIrls, just breathe and love each other and take care of yourselves and each other oh and maybe fly under the radar as much as possible you can get all flashy when you're in a safe place. And I realize the world of social media is so different now I just don't have any answers such a different world.
I have recently (since the election) been thinking about whether or not I want to purchase a gun for my protection. I genuinely did not realize there were other people with the same thought process and I so appreciate your channel/voice❤
I am a 45-year-old woman and I live alone. 20 years ago I got busted for drug possession and according to the state of California, I cannot own a gun. What I can own is pepper spray that comes in the form of a gun that has a laser. in the whole thing. That works for me. Also really glad to hear narcan can just be purchased over the counter. I just bought two boxes from Walgreens. I want to keep one in my glove box because I work in the construction industry and overdose deaths are rampant to say the least.
As sad as it sounds, I've been telling people that are in fear...hide, just try to wait it out. As much as I feel that, in the past, public protests can change the world, in this case just hide, help others.
🐾 I grew up around guns & father, brothers, uncles going hunting. My husband was in the Marines. We have not had a gun in our home the entire time we've been married, 50 yrs. My husband, today mentioned we should consider getting a gun 😢
We have to be the better people-however I also think we need to be a lot more aggressive & sometimes play dirtier than we ever have before EVER! & we need to remember soooo many Trump voters were uninformed voters who didn’t know better. All they knew is they wanted a change when they had NO idea the change was right in front of their face if they had voted Harris/Waltz. Trump conned his voters-they’re the most successful grift he’s ever accomplished!!!!
Hi. With regard to the first subject you guys had I’d like to chime in here for a second. I am EX-LEO. I have been shot at and I have a shot at people and I can tell you right off the bat. It changes you as a human being and that change is not for the good. There are so many things that you can do to protect yourselves, without ever, having a firearm in your possession that are as effective, or are more effective than having a firearm. You can start with the dog and security cameras and an alarm. Getting a canna, bear spray, mace or pepper spray, or even using hairspray total advantage specially, with bear spray that stuff can shoot like 15 feet. A very powerful flashlight is affective at night. Are you blind somebody with a very, very powerful flashlight they can’t see what they’re doing. You have an advantage. The gun is not the solution and people in the UK know that because what’s happened since all of their guns have been taken away is the knife fights and people dying from stabbings has increased tremendously. So if your first thought is protection of yourself and your family your first thought shouldn’t be do we need a gun your first thought is how do I protect my property and my family passively and then how do I protect my property and my family actively without use of a firearm. I have seen people were off intruders with dogs geez, donkeys, bows and arrows slingshots a baseball bat hairspray. There’s so many ways that are as effective and that won’t put your family in jeopardy because the statistics are there accidents in the home involving firearms are very high, And the fact is somebody is more likely to take that firearm away from you then you are statistically going to be successful using it against somebody. Sign your kids up for self-defense classes. The best thing that you can teach, your kids is situational awareness. Just when they least expect it test them on the people around a intersection, you just passed or if you’re out walking a person that you’ve just passed, it doesn’t have to be an exercise in fear but in empowerment. First thing you guys need to think about doing is talk to your local law-enforcement officers ask them for their opinions on self-defense classes how you can make your home more predator proof how you can teach your kids about situational awareness. Often times it’s the person who avoids the situation that they saw coming, who gets away without a scratch not the person who is ready for a fight
I saw an interesting tip regarding using a baseball bat as a defensive weapon. The tip was to add a long, thin sock to the business end of the bat, so that if your attacker grabs it in a swing, they only get the sock as it slides right off, keeping the bat in your control. You can get in another swing while they’re confused about the sock. Ha!
@ sounds a bit dreamy. To effectively use a bat or baton, swinging is not the best way to effect a dominate position. Using it in a poking manner is more effective
I'm curious, what do you think a gun in the house will help? Asking as I live in another Western country and never heard why civilians owning guns makes the place safer? - On another note, during the 2nd world war, my little grandma Marie and her friends ran an underground group helping refugees, jews, gypsies, deserters, anyone who was persecuted by the Nazis. They'd hide them, feed them, knit clothes for them, help them leave safely. Marie's pots and pans and knitting needle was more powerful than any gun would have been. She's had heart and guts to help the so-called vermins, risking her own life because she knew it was the right thing to do. She also adopted my mother so without her, I woild not exist. Let's just woman up during a difficult time and help others where help is needed.
Finally a SANE comment on here!! From a Western European whose grandmother once stood in between the Nazis and a Jewish man, highly pregnant and WITHOUT a GUN!
I don't know how others feel, but I'm most concerned about armed "militia" types, taking the law into their own hands, as they will feel empowered to do what they want in the name of the Pumpkin Spice Palpatine. I'm a blue dot in a very red town, in a blue state...I'm selling my house and hitting the road. Going to be a nomad, which I've been planning on for about two years, this just makes it all feel more urgent. They can't knock on your door, if you don't have one. Plus, super inexpensive way to live, so I can save, save, save, for my retirement, which is about 13 years off, but when the market crashes again, and it will, I'll lose my 401K money, and SS will be decimated if they have their way, so cash is king. I don't want to be destitute when I am ready to stop working.

Regardless if someone believes the devil is a real entity or not, the bar code being the mark of the beast is another level entirely. When I get paid later in the week, I am starting a tote of emergency food products like soup pouches (just add water), canned meats, oatmeal or cream of wheat, some canned veggies, pre-cooked bacon, etc.
Some things that are on my preparedness to-do list. 1. Talk to financial advisor about recession proofing investments. 2. Double the garden size/production. 3. Restock N95 masks.

Thank you for your expertise.
I have my Class A lic to conceal...also a gun...took 3 classes. Need more experience as it's locked never used.

Texas has bought up the town since covid, and for the first time ever we are faced with the GOP politics. My kids friends are terrified that everyone is going to be deported. The money is in the camps, not deportation.

If you want to protect yourself but don't want a regular gun, there are plenty of less than lethal options. Also, use the buddy system if you feel unsafe when you go out.
Can you share a list of less lethal options so people have it here?
oh no if it gets to that point i’m going all out and i’m a pacifist
Wasp spray is accessible, easy to use, very toxic, and has a long range, even in somewhat windy conditions.

For anyone who seriously considering getting a firearm, there is a UA-cam channel called sons of liberty. Don’t mind the name, or the main UA-camr looking like a big burly, MAGA guy, he is not. He did a video within the last week or so about this topic and as a former military member, I was cheering how well he explained things.
Outstanding recommendation! Big Sarge made me laugh so hard while affirming my beliefs & teaching valuable life skills… subscribed the first minute. TY!
I stocked up on trail cameras and pocket mace. You can get both at Bass pro shop. The police recommended both.
Where do you put the trail cameras?

For the first time in my life , I started decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving. I just needed it. My parents have done the same. So I definitely feel you on that 😊
Remember the former Yugoslavia and learn from recent history. This was in our lifetime.
Oh wow. “It can’t happen here”. 😞😢
Ladies, we are doing exactly the same thing. Right after Thanksgiving, we are decorating inside our safe, loving, and peaceful home. Love to you :)

Agreed. The only thing I'll add is go ahead and get a concealed carry permit, not just a gun permit. Some folks don't know there's a difference. 💙
Just having the knowledge of what you CAN handle is HUGE! Ty for providing sound and safe advice👍🏼☮️

I would say being poor, differently abled, short, and of color on top of the other categories will be also a target on people's backs.
I have recently (since the election) been thinking about whether or not I want to purchase a gun for my protection. I genuinely did not realize there were other people with the same thought process and I so appreciate your channel/voice❤
Check the responses for my replies...there is a lot of good info in regards to guns, and other forms of protection.
If I am forced to buy a gun, I will move out of the country.

@@OmANnIe - Show me a Trumpanzee who respects anybody other than themselves and their Marmalade Messiah. I haven't met one.
Often times it’s the person who avoids the situation that they saw coming, who gets away without a scratch not the person who is ready for a fight
look up naziism bc that’s what is coming ffs
