We live in a country where 79% of the adult population is statistically considered literate, and the standards aren't that high. I live in a city in which less than 15% primary and middle school students can read at a "proficient level". We elected a convicted felon who made claims in the campaign of potential transgender surgeries in schools, of people eating dogs and cats, and apparently now will emabark on a mass deportation project in the "land of the free and home of the brave". To imagine this travesty we called an election deserves even this superficial analysis, flatters what we call "American Exceptionalism", and is a joke.
A good education comes after the first five years of conditioning. A sizable chunk of Trump's base are fundamentalist Christians. From the time their babies can walk, they are placed into the indoctrination process of the faith-based community and its authoritarian churches. My point--as a former teacher--is that education at best is triage after the fact. And when so many critique the education system, they assist the Right in its plan to eviscerate public education and replace it with Christian church schools. The public is already funding a lot of money being siphoned into charter schools under the B.S. heading of "choice." It is a travesty. When people are socialized into substituting "faith" (i.e. obedience to male leaders) for reasoning and independent thought, education has a massive task against it from the get-go.

Had he committed very firmly two years ago that he would not run again, there would have been time for new candidates to come forward and go through a normal primary process. However, using the 2019-2020 primary campaign as the model, I suspect that the candidates would still have kow-towed to the Woke/trans/DEI activists' ideology, which the vast majority of citizens reject. Unfortunately, no government anywhere had the foresight and gumption to greatly increase the progressivity of taxation when Covid hit and trillions of dollars were spent on credit to support people hit by the pandemic. A stiff surtax on those who did well in the pandemic would have paid for the support of those who lost out, or for low wages had to expose themselves to the virus in order that countries could still function.
Over the last few decades I have seen an increasing irresponsibility of political contenders bribing people with tax cuts and cash handouts for their votes. Worse yet, the so-called "tax cuts" invariably have gone mainly to the very wealthy, and increased the power of billionaires to an extraordinary level. Let's not forget that the Roman Republic effectively fell and became the Principate (Empire) when a few men became extraordinarily wealthy, mainly by looting newly conquered provinces, and were able to pay their own legions in competing for power. Nowadays it's less bloody, at least in the homelands, but the trend toward hyper-oligarchic autocracies is pretty universal. The bloodiness is rising, however, on the peripheries of budding new Principates, some with a desire for territorial empires.

We live in a country where 79% of the adult population is statistically considered literate, and the standards aren't that high. I live in a city in which less than 15% primary and middle school students can read at a "proficient level". We elected a convicted felon who made claims in the campaign of potential transgender surgeries in schools, of people eating dogs and cats, and apparently now will emabark on a mass deportation project in the "land of the free and home of the brave". To imagine this travesty we called an election deserves even this superficial analysis, flatters what we call "American Exceptionalism", and is a joke.

A good education comes after the first five years of conditioning. A sizable chunk of Trump's base are fundamentalist Christians. From the time their babies can walk, they are placed into the indoctrination process of the faith-based community and its authoritarian churches.
My point--as a former teacher--is that education at best is triage after the fact. And when so many critique the education system, they assist the Right in its plan to eviscerate public education and replace it with Christian church schools. The public is already funding a lot of money being siphoned into charter schools under the B.S. heading of "choice."
It is a travesty. When people are socialized into substituting "faith" (i.e. obedience to male leaders) for reasoning and independent thought, education has a massive task against it from the get-go.

It was totally foolish for Biden to run again, and to wait for so long before pulling out. Had he committed very firmly two years ago that he would not run again, there would have been time for new candidates to come forward and go through a normal primary process. However, using the 2019-2020 primary campaign as the model, I suspect that the candidates would still have kow-towed to the Woke/trans/DEI activists' ideology, which the vast majority of citizens reject. At least for now Wokism is discredited, and perhaps the only good thing which will come from the coming dark period is that Wokism will be buried once and for all, with a new vision of society emerging, based more on the circa 1967 ideals of MLK and RFK (Sr.) than on all the post-1968 developments founded on Post-Modernism and Critical Theory.

RFK is definitely a mixed bag of nuts - and he hits on correct things occasionally , but he is nuts. American cereals are sold in specialist lolly/candy shops in Australia, because they're so packed with sugar. They are not available at our supermarkets. We don't use high fructose corn syrup. We know it's bad. Knowing that doesn't qualify me, or anyone else in Australia for a cabinet position - it just acknowledges that we know some foods are really bad for us.
The truth is painful. But, I do think Pres. Biden did a lot - just wish he had stepped down and let a primary take hold. I love VP Harris and had she been the nominee from a primary, she would have had more time to get her messaging out. She needed more time to counter the craziness coming out of Trump's mouth.
