Is there a certain amoutn fo rakah to be prayed. I have urinary problems so have to renew wudu whenever a new salah starts. That means for me i have to make sure i pray the tarawee before the midpoint of the night otherwise have to renew my wudu but that makes me then think have i missed the tarawee because i dont always manage to read it in full - though i do try. So may i pray say 8 rakah before midpoint of night (around 12.15) and then continue with witr after renewing my wudu in about and hour ..
Hope im making sense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
There was also a hadith reported i believe to say prophet saw never prayed more than 13 rakahs at night even in ramadan. So 8 rakah tarawee and 3 witr?

I know it is a late comment and you should also note that I am not a scholar but I will try my best to explain. You can indeed pray 8 rakahs for taraweeh in the midpoint of the night, then after using the bathroom, you can perform wudu again and simply offer 2 rakahs for tahajjud. According to the teachings I have read, taraweeh can be performed in the form of 8 or 20 rakahs, so only 8 rakah will be fine and Almighty Allah knows best.

عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابی بن کعب اور تمیم داری رضی اللہ عنہما کو حکم دیا کہ وہ لوگوں کو(قیام الیل میں ) گیارہ رکعت نماز بڑھائیں -
ان مختصر سے دلائل سے یہ بات واضح ہو گئی کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی رات کی نماز گیارہ رکعت ہی تھی اور گیارہ رکعت ہی پڑھتے تھے اس پر کبھی بھی اضافہ نہ کرتے تھے، حتی کہ وہ راتیں جن میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے صحابہ کو جماعت سے تراویح پڑھائی ان میں بھی، ان میں سے کسی بھی موقع پر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے گیارہ سے زیادہ نہ پڑھی تھی اور نہ پڑھائی تھی، ہر سال کی طرح اس سال بھی کچھ لوگ سوال کرتے ہیں کہ کیا طاق راتوں میں نوافل کے طور پر آٹھ رکعت سے زیادہ پڑھ سکتے ہیں عام تو پر عوام اور خواص کا یہی جواب ہوتا ہے کہ ہاں پڑھ سکتے ہیں، مگر دلیل کیا ہے کہتے ہیں کہ اسلاف میں سے بعض پرھتے تھے یا پڑھنے کی اجازت دیتے تھے؟
یعنی نہ نبی نے اور نہ صحابہ بلکہ بعد میں بعض تابعین نے گیارہ سے زیادہ ادا کیا ہے اسی کو دلیل بنا کر کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس میں وسعت ہے!!!!مگر سوال یہ ہے کہ اگر گیارہ سے زیادہ مطلوب تھا تو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور صحابہ کے قول و فعل سے اس کی تائید کیوں نہیں ہوتی؟ پوری زندگی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے زیادہ کیوں ادا نہ کیا ؟ جب کہ واضح ہے اس سے کم پڑھنا آپ کے معمولات میں داخل تھا اور اگر اضافہ مطلوب تھا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے قول یا فعل سے کبھی اس اضافہ کی اشارہ کیوں نہ کیا؟؟
اور پھر تابعین کا عمل شرعی دلیل کب سے ہوگیا ہے کہ اس کی بنیاد پر اسوٕ نبوی میں اضافہ کو درست قرار دیا جائے؟؟؟
عشاء اور فجر کے درمیان جو نماز آپ سے ثابت ہے وہ وہ صرف گیارہ رکعت ہے البتہ وتر کے بعد بیٹھ کر دو رکعت، قیام الیل شروع کر نے سے پہلے ہلکی سی دو رکعت پڑھنا آپ کا معمول تھا( مسلم ۷۶۷)
عشاء کے بعد دو سنت موکدہ اور اس کے بعد چار نفلی رکعات وہ بھی کبھی کبھی( صحیح الترغیب ۵۹۱)
یہ وہ نمازیں ہیں جن کی ادائیگی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ثابت ہے اور وہ گیارہ سے زیادہ ہیں چونکہ یہ نمازیں ثابت ہیں اس لیے ان کا استثناء کردیا جائے گا، البتہ ثابت پر غیر ثابت کا قیاس درست نہ ہوگا، یعنی یہ کہنا کہ ان حدیثوں میں عشاء اور فجر کے درمیان گیارہ سے زیادہ پڑھا ثابت ہے اس لیے اگر اس سے بھی زیادہ پڑھے تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے؟؟؟؟ یہ بات درست نہیں ہے کیوں کہ یہ قیاس ہے اور بذریعہ قیاس عبادت کا ثابت کرنا کیا درست ہے؟؟؟؟؟
مثلا نماز کا حکم ثابت ہے اب اگر اس پر قیاس کرتے ہوئے کوئی قضائے عمری وغیرہ کو درست کہے گا تو یہ غلط ہوگا-کیا وجہ ہے کہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کبھی ایک مرتبہ بھی گیارہ رکعت سے زیادہ نہ پڑھی ایک مرتبہ ہی پڑھی ہوتی تاکہ امت کی رہنمائی ہوجاتی یا اجازت ہی دے دی ہوتی؟؟ تاکہ سند بن جاتی، ایسا نہ کرنے کی وجہ کیا ہے؟؟ کیا اس سے واضح نہیں ہوتا ہے کہ اصل میں اس سے زیادہ رکعات مطلوب ہی نہ تھیں اس لیے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اضافہ بیان نہ کیا نہ قولاً نہ فعلاًاور نہ تقرراً البتہ کمی کی جاسکتی تھی اس لیے اس کو فعلاً بیان کردیا-
نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک نماز میں متعین رکعات کی عمر بھر پابندی کریں اور کبھی بھی اس سے زیادہ نہ پڑھیں اور ہم سمجھیں کہ ہم اس سے زیادہ پڑھ سکتے ہیں کیا اس کا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ ہم نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے زیادہ اللہ کی عبادت کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟؟ ورنہ پھر اس اضافہ کا کیا مطلب ہے؟؟ کیا نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اختیار کردہ رکعات تراویح کم ہیں کہ ان اضافہ کیا جائے؟ یا ہم بنی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بڑے عابد و زاہد ہیں جو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عبادت پر اضافہ کے خواہاں ہیں؟؟! جب کہ ام الامؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا کہنا ہے: ''هل كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يختص من الأيام شيئا؟ قالت: لا، كان عمله ديمة، ،،ام الامؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا گیا، کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے(روزہ وغیرہ عبادات کے لیے ) کچھ دن خاص طور پر مقرر کر رکھے تھے؟ نہیں:، بلکہ آپ کے ہر عمل میں ہمیشگی ہوتی تھی اور دوسرا کون ہے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جتنی طاقت رکھتا ہو-) بخاری ۱۹۸۷) 360 #نمبر 1987)
ذرا غور کریں! اضافہ کی وجہ کیا ہے؟ کون سا جذبہ ہے جو اس پر آمادہ کر رہا ہے ؟ کیوں ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے زیادہ پڑھنا پڑھنا چاہتے ہیں؟؟

ترجمہ : ہم سے عبد اللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں امام مالک رحمہ اللہ علیہ نے نافع اور عبد اللہ ابن دینار سے خبر دی اور انہیں حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ ایک شخص نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے رات میں نماز کے متعلق معلوم کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ رات کی نمازدو دو رکعت ہے پھر جب کوئی صبح ہو جانے سے ڈرے تو ایک رکعت پڑھ لے، وہ اس کی ساری نماز کو طاق بنا دے گی۔

This message alone is the hadith that the Prophet (pbuh) associates with them that Daraweeh is 20 rak'ahs. However, Imam Baihaqi himself, who recorded this, clarified that "this news is not substantiated."
The next piece of evidence they take is that of Umar (Rali).
Yaseet bin Ruman says that in the time of Umar (Rali) the people were worshipers of 20 rak'ahs.

It is proven from the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he encouraged praying Taraweeh in congregation and he said: “Whoever stays with the imam until he leaves, (the reward of) qiyaam al-layl will be written for him.”
Narrated and classed as saheeh by al-Tirmidhi (806); also narrated by Abu Dawood (1375), al-Nasaa’i (1605), and Ibn Maajah (1327). Also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.
This reward will not be attained by anyone but the one who prays with the imam until he has finished all the prayers. The one who only prays some of the prayer and then leaves is not entitled to the reward promised in this hadeeth, which is that of spending a night in prayer (qiyaam laylah). 2 : Imam Ahmad used to pray with the imam and not leave until he finished, acting in accordance with the hadeeth. And whoever wants to attain this reward has to pray with the imam until he finishes Witr, whether he prays a little or a lot, and whether the time taken is long or short.

So they raised their voices and knocked the door with small stones (to draw his attention). He came out to them in a state of anger, saying, “You are still insisting (on your deed) that I fear this prayer might become obligatory on you. So, O you people! offer this prayer at your homes, for the best prayer of a person is the one which he offers at home, except the compulsory (congregational) prayer.”

How many rakats we have to pray before Fajr
But our Prophet saw prayed 8+3 during the Ramadan and 8+3 beside Ramadan. So he pbuh never prayed any special prayer except Qiyamul Lail and no any additional rakah during Ramadan. Pls clarify me with Hadeeth reference. Jazakallahu Khairan.

intention for the night salah teraweeh and tahajjud are both the same timings may differ depending on what u want to do but in the end u can also pray both as one so long as its after isha and before ur witr

Yes you can pray tahajjud before sleeping. It is not necessary to sleep for praying tahajjud. Majority of scholars agree to this idea.

I have a lot of respect for you. With due respect, Taraweeh the way it is prayed in congregation is "Bida'". There is NO evidence that RasulAllah made a "Jama" (a congregation). Besides, Qayam ul Layl is supposed to be in the Third part of night. Again, one cannot pray a few rakas after Isha and expect reward for Qayam ul Layl.
The Hadith you mentioned, no one ever prayed congregational Qayam ul Layl after that. Not Abu Bakar, Umar, Uthman or Ali. Even when Umar told some people to follow an imam in congregation, he himself called it a Bida'. Also, when Umar told people to pray in congregation, there is no indication that it was Qayam ul Layl or the third part of the night. Please consider.

Allah Almighty says in Qur'an:

Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
He who observed the fasts of Ramadan with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven, and he who observed prayer on Lailat-ul- Qadr with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven.

1. Ibaadah (Worship)
In Quran, Allah Almighty says:
“Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” Qur'an(2: 277)
Pray obligatory prayer, Qiyamul-lail (Night prayer) and nawafil prayer.
Send salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
2. Recite the Holy Qur’an
Ramadan is known to be the month of Quran. It is highly recommended in the Ramadan to read and study the Holy Quran and to share with others.
During the month of Ramadan and over the course of the year, many of us tend to recite the Holy Qur’an without knowing what it is we are actually reading. Take some time out to read translation of the Holy Qur’an.
3. Supplications (Dua)
Do not forget to make Dua and seek repentance as much as possible to your Lord for your sins.
4. Donate to Charity
It is also highly recommended to give
Zakat (obligatory tax/donation - 2.5% of wealth/savings/assets according to lunar year) and Sadaqah (voluntary charity) in the Ramadaan.
The act of giving is an act that is greatly rewarded by Allah SWT and is greatly encouraged during the Holy month of Ramadan. Even the smallest act of giving someone a glass of water or smiling at another being is a great act of charity in Islam and Feed the poor people.
5. Unite
Ramadan is intended to bring peace and unity to Islam so ensure you spend as much time as possible praying and worshipping with your loved ones. Visit the Mosque with your family and friends, have your suhoor and iftar with them and pray alongside each other, too.
If you have broken a relationship with a relative or a Muslim for any reason, then connect with them immediately.
If you have harassed or hurt a Muslim, then apologize to him immediately.
6. Perform I’tikaaf
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to spend the final ten days of this Holy month in I’tikaaf at the Masjid. I’tikaaf is the act of performing continuous prayer and Dhikr (devotional prayers/remembrance of Allah SWT) at the Masjid for a prolonged period of time, without leaving.
7. Do dhikr of Allah.
Allah says in Qur'an,
Do not be like those who forgot Allah, and Allah caused them to forget their own selves.
Qur'an (59:19)
Here are some adhkar:
"SubhanAllah”, (سُبْحَانَ اللَّه)
“Alhamdulillah”, (ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ)
“Allahu Akbar”, (الله أكبر)
La ilaha illallah, ( لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ )
"La hawla wa la quwwata illa Billah", ( لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّٰهِ)
Subhanallahi wabihamdih, (سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ)
8. A Time for Self-Reflection
Ensure you evaluate yourself as a person and ask yourself these things:
As a Muslim, are you humble?
Is there more you can do for your amaal or is there more you could do for others whilst you still have the opportunity?
Are you a good person?
Do you have decent characteristics? Have you got good morals and values? Do you have good akhlaaq?
Identify all the things you feel you could change or better about yourself.

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: ''جاء أبى بن كعب إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا رسول الله إنه كان منى الليلة شيء يعنى فى رمضان، قال: ماذا يا أبى؟ قال: نشوة فى دارى قلن : إنا لا نقرأ القرآن فنصلى بصلاتك قال: فصليت بهن ثمان ركعات ثم أوترت قال: فكان شبه الرضا و لم يقل شيئا،، مسند ابو يعلى(١٧٩٥) مختصر قيام الليل للمروزى / ٩٠ ، صلاة التراويح(٧٩)
کعب رضی اللہ عنہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے اور کہا: اے اللہ کے رسول رات میں مجھ سے کچھ کام ہوگیا ہے، یعنی رمضان میں، فرمایا: اے ابی ! وہ کیا ہے؟ کہا: میرے محلہ کی عورتوں نے کہا: ہم قرآن نہیں پڑھ سکتے ہیں، لہذا ہم آپ کی اقتدا میں نماز پڑھیں گی، انہوں نے کہا: تب میں نے انہیں آٹھ رکعت نماز پڑھائی اس کے بعد وتر پڑھائی، راوی نے کہا: یہ شبہِ رضامندی( تقریری سنت ) تھی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں کچھ نہیں کہا )
سائب بن یزید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: أمر عمر رضي الله عنه أبى بن كعب و تميما الدارى أن يقوما للناس بإحدى عشرة ركعة ،، الموطأ للامام مالك (٣٠٢) بيهقى ٤٩٤/٢ )
عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابی بن کعب اور تمیم داری رضی اللہ عنہما کو حکم دیا کہ وہ لوگوں کو(قیام الیل میں ) گیارہ رکعت نماز بڑھائیں -
ان مختصر سے دلائل سے یہ بات واضح ہو گئی کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی رات کی نماز گیارہ رکعت ہی تھی اور گیارہ رکعت ہی پڑھتے تھے اس پر کبھی بھی اضافہ نہ کرتے تھے، حتی کہ وہ راتیں جن میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے صحابہ کو جماعت سے تراویح پڑھائی ان میں بھی، ان میں سے کسی بھی موقع پر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے گیارہ سے زیادہ نہ پڑھی تھی اور نہ پڑھائی تھی، ہر سال کی طرح اس سال بھی کچھ لوگ سوال کرتے ہیں کہ کیا طاق راتوں میں نوافل کے طور پر آٹھ رکعت سے زیادہ پڑھ سکتے ہیں عام تو پر عوام اور خواص کا یہی جواب ہوتا ہے کہ ہاں پڑھ سکتے ہیں، مگر دلیل کیا ہے کہتے ہیں کہ اسلاف میں سے بعض پرھتے تھے یا پڑھنے کی اجازت دیتے تھے؟
یعنی نہ نبی نے اور نہ صحابہ بلکہ بعد میں بعض تابعین نے گیارہ سے زیادہ ادا کیا ہے اسی کو دلیل بنا کر کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس میں وسعت ہے!!!!مگر سوال یہ ہے کہ اگر گیارہ سے زیادہ مطلوب تھا تو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور صحابہ کے قول و فعل سے اس کی تائید کیوں نہیں ہوتی؟ پوری زندگی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے زیادہ کیوں ادا نہ کیا ؟ جب کہ واضح ہے اس سے کم پڑھنا آپ کے معمولات میں داخل تھا اور اگر اضافہ مطلوب تھا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے قول یا فعل سے کبھی اس اضافہ کی اشارہ کیوں نہ کیا؟؟
اور پھر تابعین کا عمل شرعی دلیل کب سے ہوگیا ہے کہ اس کی بنیاد پر اسوٕ نبوی میں اضافہ کو درست قرار دیا جائے؟؟؟
عشاء اور فجر کے درمیان جو نماز آپ سے ثابت ہے وہ وہ صرف گیارہ رکعت ہے البتہ وتر کے بعد بیٹھ کر دو رکعت، قیام الیل شروع کر نے سے پہلے ہلکی سی دو رکعت پڑھنا آپ کا معمول تھا( مسلم ۷۶۷)
عشاء کے بعد دو سنت موکدہ اور اس کے بعد چار نفلی رکعات وہ بھی کبھی کبھی( صحیح الترغیب ۵۹۱)
یہ وہ نمازیں ہیں جن کی ادائیگی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ثابت ہے اور وہ گیارہ سے زیادہ ہیں چونکہ یہ نمازیں ثابت ہیں اس لیے ان کا استثناء کردیا جائے گا، البتہ ثابت پر غیر ثابت کا قیاس درست نہ ہوگا، یعنی یہ کہنا کہ ان حدیثوں میں عشاء اور فجر کے درمیان گیارہ سے زیادہ پڑھا ثابت ہے اس لیے اگر اس سے بھی زیادہ پڑھے تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے؟؟؟؟ یہ بات درست نہیں ہے کیوں کہ یہ قیاس ہے اور بذریعہ قیاس عبادت کا ثابت کرنا کیا درست ہے؟؟؟؟؟
مثلا نماز کا حکم ثابت ہے اب اگر اس پر قیاس کرتے ہوئے کوئی قضائے عمری وغیرہ کو درست کہے گا تو یہ غلط ہوگا-کیا وجہ ہے کہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کبھی ایک مرتبہ بھی گیارہ رکعت سے زیادہ نہ پڑھی ایک مرتبہ ہی پڑھی ہوتی تاکہ امت کی رہنمائی ہوجاتی یا اجازت ہی دے دی ہوتی؟؟ تاکہ سند بن جاتی، ایسا نہ کرنے کی وجہ کیا ہے؟؟ کیا اس سے واضح نہیں ہوتا ہے کہ اصل میں اس سے زیادہ رکعات مطلوب ہی نہ تھیں اس لیے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اضافہ بیان نہ کیا نہ قولاً نہ فعلاًاور نہ تقرراً البتہ کمی کی جاسکتی تھی اس لیے اس کو فعلاً بیان کردیا-
نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک نماز میں متعین رکعات کی عمر بھر پابندی کریں اور کبھی بھی اس سے زیادہ نہ پڑھیں اور ہم سمجھیں کہ ہم اس سے زیادہ پڑھ سکتے ہیں کیا اس کا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ ہم نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے زیادہ اللہ کی عبادت کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟؟ ورنہ پھر اس اضافہ کا کیا مطلب ہے؟؟ کیا نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اختیار کردہ رکعات تراویح کم ہیں کہ ان اضافہ کیا جائے؟ یا ہم بنی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بڑے عابد و زاہد ہیں جو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عبادت پر اضافہ کے خواہاں ہیں؟؟! جب کہ ام الامؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا کہنا ہے: ''هل كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يختص من الأيام شيئا؟ قالت: لا، كان عمله ديمة، ،،ام الامؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا گیا، کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے(روزہ وغیرہ عبادات کے لیے ) کچھ دن خاص طور پر مقرر کر رکھے تھے؟ نہیں:، بلکہ آپ کے ہر عمل میں ہمیشگی ہوتی تھی اور دوسرا کون ہے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جتنی طاقت رکھتا ہو-) بخاری ۱۹۸۷) 360 #نمبر 1987)
ذرا غور کریں! اضافہ کی وجہ کیا ہے؟ کون سا جذبہ ہے جو اس پر آمادہ کر رہا ہے ؟ کیوں ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے زیادہ پڑھنا پڑھنا چاہتے ہیں؟؟
