And Warner Brothers making a cartoon called.

You can view it on UA-cam

Honestly, I don't understand why people think these things need to be censored or hidden away myself; I think they should just have a disclaimer or something, noting they're products of their time and what the history was like then, rather than just pretending they didn't exist. They should be preserved as they were like anything else for history's sake. History may not always be pretty, or looked back on fondly, but it is what it is and should be faced head on, instead of trying to erase or change it.
Exactly. "Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it."
This comment, this one right here is the comment I was looking for past all the Disney slander
I really dislike how people try to apply todays morals to the past
@@Bhargleyargle exactly. In hundreds of years people will probably think we were all terrible people.
Same reason we study history to move forward and not repeat it, instead of burying it, it should be studied.
The first ever sound cartoon, My Old Kentucky Home (1927) was based on a song with very racist lyrics and most of the cartoon was actually a singalong of that racist song. With the racism taken out of it the movie lasts only about a minute long.
Song of the south was actually talking about them working after they were legally required to be paid. So they were not slaves. And they had a wise old black man who was teaching great morals to young children, such as not to respond with anger amoung other things.
i have watched the movie it has nothing racist about it
I agree. If we don't remember the horrible and disgusting things of the past, then we're going repeat our mistakes. "Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it."

Song of the South was supposed to take place during the Reconstruction Era, but I guess it wasn't too explicitly stated in the film.
it was never said he was a slave in song of the south. he was just a happy dude in the south.
Yeah, plus even though he was a slave. The movie is about the dude mentoring a kid who gets picked on by sharing his own struggles, surviving through slavery and how he was able to get through it

To be fair, what isn't racist?
(We should try not to discriminate though guys, I'm sorry. In the end, we are all just living.)
some people arent
but the world is still so discriminative
I grew up watching a lot of old Looney Tunes cartoons. So when I rewatched a lot of them I was just very surprised of how racist they were. And also I finally understood a lot of the adult jokes finally.
The funny thing is the song of the south wasn't meant to be racist as the person you are referring to is not a slave rather a newly freed man and the reason why he is so happy is because his character in the book just has that personality because he just got his freedom. There are a couple of good videos I wish I could share about the subject but you all can look them up😊
I'm actually glad people make sure to remember this kind of stuff, simply because it's not fair to pretend it didn't happen. Once again amazing short!

As a black man, I’m not very offended by Disney because I know back then they had to be appeal to very big audience and most of them might’ve been racist so they kinda had to be in favor of them, or they probably would’ve lost a bunch of their audience before Whatever law it was to stop segregation. And also, Disney usually wouldn’t show angry slaves.
“Whatever pays the bills!” Ahh video😭🙏
Some slaves (particularly ones on rice farms) actually did enjoy being slaves. The work for them was usually easy enough that they were done by noon. After that they were allowed to have their own small plot of land in which they could farm for extra food and money. Now, not all rice farm slaves had these things but a lot did. (Some even complained about being set free)
That’s some David duke levels of bs

Oh thank you very much
Disney 1940s propaganda cartoons were wild, now there’s a bunch of clips of Donald Duck as a Nazi😂
I suddenly feel like watching cartoons
While these are indeed horrible, we shouldn't censor history. They were different times, and we're also extremely old. I understand "Woke" culture obviously blew a gasket when seeing this, but history tends to show the mistakes of humanity in hindsight, and trying to cover it up will only doom us to repeat the same mistakes.
