In 1864 the Ionian Islands fell to Greece, in 1881 Thessaly and parts of Epirus. Crete, the East Aegean and Macedonia were added in 1913 and Western Thrace in 1919. After the Second World War in 1947 the Dodecanese Islands were also handed over to Greece
