Witch: Owning The Word/ Grimoires/ Practice

- What the word means to me, why I embraced it, walked away from it and then embraced it again. I explore all of this and how the word plays out in my my personal practice as a create a Grimoire page and also take part in Drawloween (an October drawing challenge hosted by Mab Graves over on insta)

I adore Maleficent 🖤 She is my most favourite of all Witches; a good girl, gone bad - through trauma. That movie made me weep with feeling her pain of betrayal and cruelty. Bitterness, fear and the unfairness of life shrouded her kind heart until it possessed her. Who hasn’t felt that? Witches are just Princesses who have endured trauma and have allowed it to consume their soul. This is how I see the archetypal Disney Witch. I now recognise a Princess as a fawn/people pleaser/the ‘good girl’. No wonder she got the Prince. She was totally conditioned to be this way; gaslit into subservience in a man’s world. Witches get a raw deal in my opinion. My mantra now is do no harm but take no shit. You are so talented it takes my breath away; that’s Magic for you. Oh and dark lipstick pfft lipgloss all the way 💄

I love the nails too. They were nails I took out of all the pallets I dismantled to make my garden fences and gates. They are full of love, sweat, tears and dreams and literally harvested with my bare hands (and a hammer and wrench)
You are such an inspiring speaker. I too have felt disconnected from the word ‘witch.’ My aesthetic doesn’t fit what I see online, and I feel set apart from others. But that’s funny, because I definitely see you as a witch, and your aesthetic doesn’t fit that either! It’s hard to remember sometimes but I hope soon to never forget that being a witch comes from inside, it’s not a ‘look,’ even if there is a certain look that a lot of witches tend to gravitate to at any given point in time. ❤

For me I feel my ancestors singing thru my bones with joy that I can claim and practice my witchery. It feels important to take this opportunity they didn’t have and one that makes my soul happy. I wonder if I am the manifestation of some of their wishes and spells.

Powerful video Candy, unfortunately the word witch because of history has been seen as a bad thing when really when it comes down to it, it's just women and men who travel along their own path with nature and beliefs that are different so its seen as weird. I always knew I was different, death did not frighten me or graveyards I knew there was more to it, and I've always adored the moon so Powerful. Love and hugs lovely ❤😘

I've always rebelled against the negative portrayal of Witches (thank you, Aquarius Moon!😊). To me, it was always fragile and insecure egos that labeled Witches, aka, independent, outspoken, non-conformist women (predominantly), as evil. It's time we embrace and claim who we are unapologetically and flip the narrative to benefit us instead of 'them.' We all need that tee shirt that reads....You say Witch like it's a bad thing. 😅

Hi Candy. Ive just read a news article about 3 women in Holland who have raised money for a memorial to the witches who were persecuted and put to death there. They want their suffering acknowledged and remembered. They are definitely reclaiming the witch. 😊❤❤
