David, I come back to watch your videos often. Sometimes it’s because I need advice on my 50v, but a lot of the time it’s just to enjoy your process and entertaining videos! I can’t thank you enough for putting these on UA-cam. You rock!
About to start rebuilding my first Moby. So glad to have found this page! You may not know it, but you and me are going to be spending lots of time together in my shop haha!
Just beginning this process myself. Picked up a 65 mobylette for £200 I’ve never done this before - I have no idea what I’m doing 🫡 Very appreciative of your video. Thanks for sharing.
13:05 timestamp took me out 😂 i’ll be starting my first av7 rebuild soon and this was an awesome look into my future… excited to replace the gurtner on my ‘79 50vla with a vm18 :-)
Hey David, I appreciate you making these videos to help others bring vintage mopeds back to life. I recently bought a 50v just like yours, except its orange and in pieces. I was wondering if you could tell me what the center hole on the cylinder head is for? If I need to screw something in it, What? Thanks!
what size cam puller did you use? I ordered the one from Treats for a Motobecane but they are both too small. It was the 19mm x 1mm/ 24mm x 1mm. It looks like it should be 26mm? Curious which puller size worked for your magneto cam.
You’re right. The stock magneto uses a 26mm puller. When you upgrade to the Le Partie CDI from treats (which you should 😜), you will use a 19mm. Good luck!
Hey Dave I am working on an AV7 right now as well and am having trouble with the spacer in the magnito. What is the tool called you use in 6:40 of the video?
WOW Great stuff I bought my 1977 Mobby new for £ 240 it has not been running for twenty years due to a leaking crank case oil seal ! now I have seen this I can bring it back to life . Then start work on my 1977 K1 Gold Wing ??
Hi ,I bought a 1951 av3 mk 1 frame ( no stand ) and clutch , it was running fine till I changed the tyres and now when the pedals turn the main crank does not . The main crank will spin the piston on a drill and socket , but pedalling on a rear wheel stand she won't turn at all. The belt is tight and both chains are normal tightness , and the cycle to drive button is in . Any ideas why she won't turn the crank on the pedals? Thanks
What do you call the thing you used at 6:25?? I need one but can't find the name of it. Also, where did you buy that Polar puller, need one of those too.
@@cardscollectiblescanada1726 Yeah, that one. But I manage to get it off, and I now have the engine running, starting and idling. It Is a cool experience to get It running again :D

They make "Master Cylinder snap ring pliers" that work perfectly to reach in at those stupid c-clips holding the variator

The breaker bar?

Quick tip for getting the shim out of the clutch is put some grease on a socket and the shim will hold the the grease and it pops roght out :)
Where did you find the tool for removing the variator (i'm doing a rebuild too bit my engine Is siezed)
Heya Luca. Here it is: www.treatland.tv/24mm-x-1mm-26mm-x-1mm-puller-for-honda-mbk-p/24x1-26x1-honda-mbk-puller.htm

What kind of grease do you us?. I like the red.
Hey Kenneth. Its called Sta-Lube. Cant remember where I bought it because those cans last about 10 years :-).
That puller went up a little bit now is at $13.50
It's $15.99 now
So I can expect 40, then? Ha! Can't wait to get started.
