Mt 07 is an insane bike, one of the best Ive had the pleasure to ride. A complete masterpiece of performance and durability. just add gas and ride it for years and years without any major problems.
I've had Sportsters, Dynas, Fatboys, V-rods, Xr1200R, and swapped to a 2016 Yamaha XSR900 and LOVED IT. So light, nimble, and fun. I've had it 7 years now and never once have I missed my Harleys. My only regret is this closet full of Harley gear I'll never wear again.
But, my point is, rent an XSR900 and check it out
i love my 2021 Mt-07. By far the best bike iv ever owned :D. Iv owned a few bikes but riding the Mt-07 is constant smiles.
i agree.. March 3rd here in Southern Ohio & i'm taking mine out for a ride in about 2 hrs....gonna hit 68 today for a high....74 tomorrow so i'll ride it to work...FUN bike...hard to go slow...
Dear Moto Blonde. The Yamaha MT-07 is a proven winner with more after market support. For you greater after market support equals more how to vids and a better ride for you. The MT-07 may cost more, but you will recoup much of that back when you sell it. I would get the MT-07 over the CFMoto.
The MT 07 sucks Big time! The suspension are horrible!
@@MrHarry440 The suspension only sucks if you're overweight. In that case, most bikes in that price point will not be suited for you. However, with that said, the 2017 and prior FZ-07 had terrible suspension like a pogo stick. The 2018 - current is fantastic.
@@MrHarry440 just don't go into corners real fast.....problem solved....I don't race my 2022 MT07 so i don't demand perfection from my bike.....the MT07 is a VERY FUN bike....PERIOD......anyone who says otherwise is ....well......just wanting to argue...?
This bike is one of the best allrounders you can get. I swapped my GSX-R1000 to buy two spanking new of these . Happy wife - happy life.
I had an fz07 for a little bit. It was tough letting it go. I only did because I already have a FZ 09 which I'm completely in LOVE with.
I just picked up the Trident 660 and I absolutely love it. It comes full of tech such as a slipper clutch, traction control with rider modes, self canceling indicators. It is still very light and nimble and has that beautiful triple sound. I recommend giving it a try. Or if you want more I'd go Street Triple.
So did I! It’s been a breeze to learn on
@@dante8s I upgraded a month ago to a Street Triple R 675 and I absolutely love it. I initially wanted to bu a 765 (used, because I can't afford a brand new one and didn't want to finance) but heard so many stories about TFT displays going bad, that I settled for the best 675 I could find. It had only 2k miles when I picked it up and it's an absolute dream to ride. All the power I(!) need and incredibly nimble.
@@mementomori4972I concur, just picked one up. 2012 Street Triple R - loads of fun
Pfft traction control. What a poof
@@drinkmoresoda personally, i reckon brakes are for gaylords..........
It cracks me up what is considered an entry level bike today compared to when I was growing up. I ride an MT-07 that I absolutely love, and the thing does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. I'm 57 years old, and back in my youth, you could run faster than a lot of the bikes we used to tool around on.
The stock bike has super weedy suspension hence the upgrades, the forks in particular. If you bought one it’s definitely something to consider and I’d definitely have a professional set it up for you. Do that and I think you’d definitely have a fun ownership experience
That thing sounds amazing.
i just passed 30,000 mi on my 2019 MT07, and still love it. Aftermarket add-ons you mentioned are correct...Corbin seat, R1 throttle tube, and windscreen. Last years trip I did was Gettysburg Pa to Route 66 to Las Vegas. 5800 miles round trip. And despite the wind it did amazing.
i watched hundreds of videos on the MT07 & had a 950.xx Corbin seat & sissy bar here & switched the seat out the first day i brought the bike home...i've done many other mods too...love the MT07
My first love is my ‘18 Triumph Street Triple 765R. It will never go anywhere. 2 years ago I got a new ‘21 Sport Glide so I don’t have to urge to hit 100+. So Monday through Thursday I ride the Harley and Friday is fun day with the Triumph. If you haven’t ridden one, I recommend it. 116hp and maybe 400 lbs for mine
The Triumph is another one of the most recommended I've been getting - will definitely look out for one. Sounds like you have the prefect combination!
I love how much fun you have with these Heather.
I bought a 2018 mt07 I drove it 3 hours north and I just love the bike sound power and comfort. It's the best bike for me
As long as you're comfortable on the bike. That's really the most important thing cause that makes the ride much better!! Great video!!
Absolutely!!!
I've got the 2024 MT-07 and love everything about it. I've gone through Harleys, sport bikes, modern retros like Triumph and Royal Enfield, a few 40 and 50 year old Japanese bikes, and the MT-07 is by far my favorite. Mine is bone stock and isn't jerky.
Great review miss Blonde, really enjoyed it, love from London Uk, you have a great voice for these videos
I have a fz07 and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Its the longest bike i have ever kept and i have had many bikes.
Lovely to find your channel!
I prefer my Triumph Speedmaster.. nice laid back ride.. worth a test ride
Fellow MT07 rider here. I currently drive stock. Its a very jerky bike, I love that fact. But, its only in first and second gear with that raw power. I can full throttle on 3rd gear up no problem without any fear of that front wheel lifting up. You can always change the sprocket for a smoother ride. If you do want to get into the stunt side, FZ/MT 07 make great stunt bikes.
thanks. just bought one MT
Another great video Heather! I am starting my search for a Rocket 3 for you to try... Yep, a personal mission, yep yep. Be safe and keep them coming!
I really enjoy all of your test rides. I've owned all of the other brands, but I always go back to Harley. I really enjoy your show; so keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome. You earned it
Saturday I set on several bikes trying them out. The KTM 390 adv fit really nice except it was wide as hell between legs. Even for me at 6'2. I also sat on a pan am , 2 soft tail slims with apes and a t bar , a road king , a street glide, a low rider st , a street glide st. Several other bikes. A Ducati monster and desert sled. Pan am and road king felt the best to me. The KTM 390 was a favorite though too. Have you tried a FZ 6 ? I think that's it. It's a upright sport touringish bike , has a small fairing. You may like it. I sat on a mt09 too. Seeing you push the mt07 around reminds me how tiny you are lol. Good vid
My girlfriend looooovessss her GSX-S750. I have ridden it as well, it's an amazing bike. So smooth, easy and fun to ride. And looks so nice in all black.
Great video Heather & nice save on the construction site & ABS is a blessing & you found out what happens when a bike doesn’t
For sure!
Love the video on thr fz 07. I plan on getting the cfmoto 450 ss. I purchased the cf moto clx 700 sport earlier this year. The modifications are going smoothly on that one.
That CLX is a good looking bike!
Have you looked at the Tuono 660? Same weight as the MT07, a little more power and plenty of rider aids to keep your wheels on the ground. It has a small wind screen and a very comfy seat! Downsides; cost and I am not sure the Aprilia dealership network is great in the US. But it is a very pretty bike and will put a smile on your face!
Love the video and now clicking on the CF Moto vid.
Good ol' Dawsonville. I miss the roads up there!
You should try the MT-09
it sounds so amazing great job riding
Looks like a great fit for you! I like the way the bike sounds and rides, those are good bikes for sure! Can't go wrong with Yamaha, very reliable and will last you a long, long time! Great review.
I just traded my heritage classic for a Vulcan s 650 and I love it
I'm probably the old man here commenting at age 64. I would recommend you look at the Kawasaki Z650 & Z650RS. I know the Z650RS will be the most comfortable bike for you to enjoy.
I ride a 2020 HD Road Glide special with a stage 3 torque kit and to many other upgrades to list. I have owned 4 Kawasaki in my 64 years, and they have all been exceptional and rock solid bikes.
u go girl keep growing love it
Moto Blonde wheelie series would be awesome!!!
You might want to try 2022-23 MT 07
It's so hard... even as a first time rider there are so many great beginner bikes out there... it's impossible to choose. I checked out your CFMoto video (and many other peoples) and the value of those bikes is insane, the features you get compared to other stuff in the same class is honestly pretty crazy. Unfortunately there is not really any dealers in my area of Connecticut, so I think I'm gonna go with something else to start with. Apparently they are releasing a single-sided swingarm version of the 450SS which I'm sure will be a huge seller for them as well. If they do a 650 sportbike I bet it will crush it too. I'm tempted with a naked bike but I'm a big dude, my shoulders and torso just being grabbed by the wind doesn't sound like the most fun. Thanks for the videos.
Dude just get a CB500 used. Wind is such a non-issue at street speeds...
time will tell tho whether or not those motors are reliable..
Try out a Honda CB650r. It's the only middleweight inline 4 left today. It has a sweet smooth revving engine that is so easy around town, fun in the twisties, and great power for the highway.
That's one thing about my FZ-07 you do need to be smooth on the throttle .. open a little and you get hard acceleration .. close a little and you get hard Engine Braking.. I have a Buell also and even though it has a much lighter crank and flywheel than Harley's have the Buell holds a very even speed because of all of the massive engine mass.
You can change the fuel shut off during deceleration on the MT-07 with a Tune.. Also you don't want to jerk the slack in the chain.. My Buell has a belt with a belt tensioner thus it never has a jerk in belt slack ..
I have not got a drag strip time on the Yamaha yet.. I would not be surprised if it is faster than the Buell in the quarter mile as it is 100 Pounds lighter.. My Buell @ 103 HP ran the quarter @ 12.77 @ 107 MPH ..
I really love to see you on this bike. The upright position I think is much better than being bent forward to reach the handle bars. I am short too (5.01 ft) and I sold my heavy bike for a lighter one because I want to leave the house whenever I want on my own.
I haven't had a chance yet to ride many Yamaha sport bikes. My daughter bought an FZ07 and it is fun. I did take her to the Kawasaki demo truck, and we rode a handful of bikes. The 650 motor is great. Very smooth, with great power delivery. I fell in love with the Z900. That bike is sooooo well balanced, I had it going 1 mph with my daughter on the back and didn't have to put a foot down right away. Kawasaki could be a brand to look into for yourself. I have looked at CF Moto. They are appealing for sure, but of course, the aftermarket support doesn't seem to be there just yet, so you may be stuck with a stock bike for a while.
I love hearing you laugh after twisting the throttle ! yep that's a good feeling! Enjoy!
It sure is!
Picked up a triumph thruxton this June lve the look and easy to ride fun. And the wow thats cool comments 😎
stock to stock the newer MT07s are less jerky. plus an ECU tune from Ivans smooths out even the older ones.
You do a wheelie series, you'll encourage me to learn how to wheelie.
You have Ducati Hyperstrada 939 written all over you, blondie. I know you will love it.
Those yamaha, Honda, kawasaki motors are too sweet, too gentle and workout character. The save choose maybe, but characterless..
If you want more power but don't want a heavy bike the MT-09 is 11 pounds heavier but it's an 890cc triple. 417 pound curb weight but it's $1,600 more.
The fz is the perfect cheat code to wheelies ❤ such fun bike
If I were 40 years younger and a whole lot wealthier, I think the Mt-07 would be my pick, too. The MT-09 ain't too shabby, either! Fun video!
the fz versions of the met bikes are cheap.
Stock mt07 will still wheelie no problem and still has plenty of torque. Stock the suspension isn't great but its adequate for general use. Mt07 are good reliable bikes with plenty of aftermarket support and worst case scenario there typically easy to sell on private market and they hold there value relatively well.
I just bought a Husqvarna svartpilen 401 to compliment my Honda VTX1800 and love the new 401! Don't let the small displacement and seat height put you off (Not all 400cc bikes are the same). Its powerful, light, agile, super fun and very futuristic looking. It also has a very premium feel, plus comes with a ton of great features standard (switchable ABS, fully adjustable suspension, quick shifter etc) Its also super cheap at $5600. If you're not crazy about the Svarts looks you can also ck out its twin the KTM Duke 390. Highly recommended!
I'm not much taller than you and passed my bike test YEARS ago. Have recently returned to two wheels on a pre-owned (2003) Triumph 995i (ST - Speed Triple). Feet are comfortable reaching the floor, I can throw it around like I was born on it with good quality B/Stone tyres and, with matching top box and side panniers. it's still one hell of a head turner for an old girl
I had a 2017 Ducati Monster 797 and it was too short on me. I let a friend try it who was close to your height and it fit her perfectly. I was considering the Mt-07 at the time and ended up with Ducati instead. My only regret is selling it!
A 2017 FZ-07 is the bike I started on. Love the bike but the things I didn't like are: Very small gas tank. The stock mirrors do not give you a good view. Bar ends really helped. Very sensitive throttle. Piss poor rear brake. Still loved the bike. It belongs to my son and he would store it with me in NJ for the winter. I would take it back to him in the spring to his place in CT (200mi) away. Very comfy but that small tank would make me refill in NY and you know those NY gas prices.
Sounds like you'd buy prefer a CFMoto CL-X 700 heritage or sport. I put over 7k on mine since I purchased it in the winter. So many extras, cruise control, auto cancelling signals, fully adjustable suspension. Only negatives is aftermarket options.
Hi Heather. Sweet bike. I'm looking for my third bike. I'm really considering the MT-09. I want the MT-10 but the price difference seems to be a few thousand between the 09 and 10. You said wish you could use each bike for longer. I know multiple people who own bikes but rarely ever ride them. Their bikes just sit in the garage collecting dust. Too bad you could find those people and borrow their bikes for a month or two at a time. I'm really enjoying your videos of you riding different bikes. Hope you are financially able to continue. Remember that just like all the upgrades you do to your Harley-Davidson's, you can also do upgrades to metric bikes to improve the ride and ergos. Take care Heather.
If you want to wheelie you should try a Sur Ron. 120lb electric bike. I was scared to death of looping my 701sm, but the Sur Ron was light and predictable.
It looks like your local based on where you were riding , if you ever want to try one out.
Loved the giggle per acceleration rate.
Not sure if you have already or not. But check out the kawasaki Z900rs. Classic looks. Smooth online four that is surprisingly designed more for toque than revs. And it’s light, comfortable ergos, easy to ride. But can be fast and very sporty when you push it
try the gladius its a V-twin almost cruiser-ish wheelbase 0-60 in about 3, low seat and very good mpg
You should try a 2022 model , i freakin love mine!
As a short rider, I would strongly recommend the Kawasaki Z650 or Z900
I had a 2019 MT07 for nearly two years, it was pretty stock, I just put a full exhaust system on it. It was really enjoyable to ride. Just traded it on a Harley 72
It's interesting how different an experience can be on a bike because of sizing. I'm 6'8" and the MT-07 is just impossible for me to ride. Both for my weight and my legs. But I believe it's a perfect bike for you. Have you tried the 2018 Honda CB650R. It's a very nice bike and that's actually the only smaller naked that's even remotely possible for me to ride a few miles.
Great video and thanks for letting me tag along on your ride.
thats kinda crazy considering i feel like the CB650R is smaller than the mt07... i ride a R7 because i feel the naked bikes are just too small and im only 5'8''
I ride a 2016 Harley-Davidson Streetglide and its done 42 000 miles now and I am never going to sell it, I have been riding Harleys for the last 30 years and have had them all but the street glide is the best. I wanted to get a bike just to get out and ride without the weight so I bought a 2016 MT 03 Then sold it and got a 2020 Z650 kowasackie sold that bought a 2008 Triumph Speed master 865, that was just like a Sportster 883. Out of them all the MT 03 was the best so I have just bought another one, Its a 2017 and only done 515 miles from new,Its like a new bike and I love it Dead light and goes well Not dead fast but goes well 100mph Good videos You dont need to buy new there are lots of second head ones out there.
That looks like an awesome bike.
Love my 2023 xsr900 in the blue
You should try a triumph 675 street triple. Nice smooth gear box and throttle.
If it feels right for you, go buy it and enjoy. And yeah, it suits you and a good riding position.
the r6 throttle makes it more jerky i would leave it stock dont see wy you should replace it i would upgrade the front forks yes i have a mt 07 evn take it to the track (assen zandvoort in the netherlands)
Would definitely watch a series of videos where you learn to wheelie.
I was wondering if you looked into the Triumph Speed Twin, I feel that you would like that bike. It's light fun and plenty of after market party favors to make that sing the a street devil. I am 6'5" and it was my first bike I got after coming off a 2017 Road Glide. If your still in the market check it out, 1200 cc smooth decent power band for the city, it's a little go getter. nice to tool around town or hit the back roads. If you want some naked bike power then check out the Aprilia Tuono 660, you can tune it up put a pipe on it and just grip and rip it.
The tune from VCYCLENUT smooths out the throttle. It does not make it jerky... On my MT-09 the throttle was still a little jerky in A mode, but B and Std mode was really smooth with the tune.
Having watched the videos it seems that the shortlist so far is the 450SS and the MT-07 which is a lot of range in CCs. I say this based on your reaction in the videos and I think those two bikes both fit you really well for your size and they both got your attention for lack of a better word, would you say this is accurate?
Not that I am trying to tell you what to do with your channel but wheelies no, you on a grom being a hooligan 💖
I've been looking to purchase a MT 07 or 09. I placed my CFMOTO CLX SPORT 700 on Riders Share a couple of months ago. I'm looking forward to placing my Harley on the service as well. The rental was a good experience and I'm happy with the service so far. I'm wishing they allowed dirt bike rentals as we have lots of room to bike off-road up here in Central Arizona.
That bike sounds awesome! and you look great in it. If you are looking for smooth throttle and non-jerky but 'linear' powerband, you want a Triumph Street Triple like Doodle chic had.
Have you tried a sports tourer a small one like the gsx 650 f good power small bike but very comfortable,I rode 200 miles on one and felt very easy getting off at end of day
1st off I'm 5'8", 26" in seem. and I ride a Honda Rebel 1100cc T DCT. That's the 1 with the bat wing and the saddlebags With a 6 speed automatic transmission. And I love it. U try it and I think you'll find what you're looking for.😊😊😊😊
Sounds like a lot of the issues you had with the bike were related to the modifications done to the bike, but I am glad you were still able to enjoy it. I have never ridden an FZ-07 but from my understanding it is a little different to the newer MT-07 which I have had the pleasure of riding and must say its got to be one of the better naked bikes out there, if not the best...That being said I wound up with an SV650 instead 🤣Keep us informed with the search and thanks for putting out another fun video!
I’m positive it’s because of the mods - and I guess the part that I talked more about didn’t make it to the video but they weren’t all bad once I knew what they were and I can see why people do them. But I was thinking wow a beginner can get into a LOT of trouble on this if they’re not careful 🤣 I’ve heard great things about the sv650!
@@MotoBlonde Totally agree the bike can be a lot for a beginner rider (or even and experienced one) the sv650 is a nice bike, I like that its a lot simpler than the other naked bikes (not too much tech to worry about or expensive parts to replace) and there are a lot of them out there so they are cheaper to buy. Plus since the bike has been around for so long it has a really strong aftermarket for mods. Good luck with the search!
try a z650 sometime or even an mt09, amazing bikes and quite comfortable
Fz07 is the same bike.
You really need to try out a z900rs. A fantastic bike with tons of power!
i would highly suggest you try the ninja 650.. it has the linear power.. seat height great for shorter people.. looks cool like a sportsbike and the riding position is comfortable.. kinda heavy a bit i guess..
that thing at the front is making all the wind hit you i like clean air better so take that of and it will be better
Without the aftermarket exhaust the MT07 is so good it is a bit boring, in my opinion. Very impressive though, does everything so well, great commuter.
I had one of those mt07’s and didn’t get on with it. I now have a ninja 400 and love the thing, it’s light, fast and good on fuel. It does a consistent 75 UK mpg average.
Checks all the right boxes, most arnt even available to check on a Harley. Now you learn what fun a motorcycle can be
Haven't seen your other videos, youtube just recommended this one, A+ by the way. You may want to look into the MT-09 instead(2023 model...has a few needed improvements to make riding better), light, good gas mileage, very torquey and comes as the mt-09 or xsr900
If you can find one, try a Triumph Street Triple 765 LRH, great bike! abs traction control and I believe it only comes in the R version.
If you are going to have a spoiler on the front, it needs a lip or it sends the air right into your face, a camera on your chin will be enough to twist your head when you look to the side.
She'll be fine on the MT with the stock gauge cover instead of the metal Aftermarket one, unless she puts a full on screen on it. Only then will it force air to smack her face with turbulence. Same for my MT10, wanted a nice screen so air would just flow over my helmet and i'd have a nice pocket to sit in, instead it just funnelled it directly into my face. With no screen it's no issue either.
Can't go wrong with an MT07 but have you ridden the Aprilla Tuano or the Triumph Trident? Similar experience with different geometry and feel that might fit better.
The easy and quick steering is not only fun, it’s also life saving when a car pulls out in front of you. I think this is the bike that to own, and the Harley is the bike to rent for long trips.
PS. If you want to know if this is the right bike, watch your video and hear yourself smile
genuinely one of the worst bikes ive ever driven, acceleration and top speed is ok on them but thats about it, never felt something so unsettled in corners from the factory, suspension and tires are bad. Even a 1200 vfr was carrying more speed in the corners than this bike could, and feels quite uncomfortable if you have to sit on it for more than an hour. Kinda a pointless bike when you need to replace half of the parts to have a decent bike, but by the time you take the cost of new tires, suspension, brakes, seat, you add another 2k+ on to the bike.
@@shroomiestshroom3655 Which bike in this category would be a better alternative?
@@mhoeij Triumph. take your pick
@@mhoeijI ride an fz07 as a pro stunt rider I can tell u rn triumph will shit on u in the middle of traffic Yamaha will not pretty simple u want reliability and price point and after market support and better sound go fz07 I rode the 09 as well the 07 is better I bought it cash so that’s how much better it was 😂
Don’t even question the Grom. If you’re on the fence, get off of it. Nice video. Subbed. Ride safe. 😎👍
It almost seems like you are going the lesser expesnive option, but you can always try a Scout or FTR as well. The Scout would be a good rip around bike, with good power and perfect for the height challenge lol.
have you tried THE BMW K 1600 GRAND AMERICA??
I rode a goldwing a couple weeks ago. Swapped rides with my neighbor for a couple hours. I am a Harley guy thru and thru… but I have to admit… I really liked it he rode my lowrider st … I’m telling you I am very tempted to get one. It was so smooth
Yeah if you want refinement, you really don't want (most) Harleys.
I’d say how much power do you actually need? Maybe a Ninja 400 or KTM Duke390. They have super low seat heights and compared to a LRST they’re probably just as fast or faster. I’m short as well not 5’1” but I’m 5’6” with short legs and arms so I understand where you’re coming from. I have the MT-09 and love it. I prefer the flat seat over the double seat because it gives me more room to move around so the stock seat keeps me way more comfortable than any Harley I ever owned, including the Street Glide I had. Also if you want more power and tech and don’t mind spending a little more money for it. I’d suggest the Tuono 660
For something with low seat height, light weight and enough power to weight ratio to be fun, the ninja 400 is hard to beat. The Duke has more torque but I like being able to rev over 10k rpms and not having to shift as much on the ninja.
I'd love to see you do Jocelin Snow's "Be The Boss Of The Bike" course. She's about your height & she's a BMW GS Adventure instructor - on one of the tallest, heaviest off road bikes around. She has so many great tips for shorter people learning to master big tall bikes.
I would LOVE to do that one day - I’ve been following her for awhile!
Great video. Great bike. You sound like you're from the south, which is a great thing 😁😁
Get a track helmet, different world. Also u can put on a larger windscreen, and get the bike lowered.
Loved the video on the 450SS. Even after getting a new Aprilia RSV4 Factory limited I still want the 450SS. As for the MT07 it's easily the bike I recommend for riders moving on from their beginner bike. I loved the 2018 MT07 I had which became my gf's MT07 when I bought a MT09 SP. The stock suspension gets hate from some as they say it's too soft. Yet the MT07 was designed to be a grunty torque monster for city riding and with many cities having crappy road conditions the soft suspension is meant to absorb those potholes and bumps. Legit with a fender eliminator, aftermarket exhaust and maybe a windscreen the MT07 is perfect. And if the cable throttle, no rider aids and no cruise control is a deal breaker then just get the MT09 SP. As the MT09 SP is a big improvement and just as much of a hooligan wheelie machine as the MT07. Also yes Grom + wheelies = some of the best times you'll have on 2 wheels.
And don't forget the MT-07 is a bargain!
If a Grom makes you feel it gives one of the best times you'll have on 2 wheels, why buy anything else? I get around Dallas on a 125 cc scooter. I can't ride on the highways, but I can get everywhere in the city. It just takes longer. Which means more riding time. I also get 91.5 mpg when I commute to work.
