Been a fan of her work since 1990. There are very few musical virtuosos at this level of mastery. Complex bass, melody and lead without the slightest hint of a struggle. A true "monster"
Barbara Dennerlein, she is a true fairy of Hammond Jazz Organ, teasing Jimmy Smith, JS Bach and Oscar Peterson, with her incredible footwork on the bass, and spirited blues impro, which brings us to heaven. Simply genius. Chapeau! /hats off. 😊
This is no ordinary Hammond B3 - added an electronic system that it can sound like a vibraphone and an electric piano and who knows what else. She's something out of the ordinary. The muscles she has on her left leg where she pedals to the bass - she can work as a bassist. What a huge musician. Wow.
I agree nice foot work. Though the ascending lick on the 3rd & 4th measure of the first bar, could use a bit of improv to shift the space. These 2 measures pop out repeatedly throughout the 6:44 tune. Possibly as drummer I’d hear a syncopated bass line variation as tastey. Ala Joey DeFrancesco. Please. 😎
Liebe Barbara, Es ist immer wieder eine große Freude, dich mit dieser kommunikativen Energie und deinem unnachahmlichen, wiedererkennbaren Stil von der ersten Sekunde an spielen zu hören! Danke
Dear Barbara! Several years ago you came the capital of Azerbaygan , Baku, and gave wonderful classik music concert in the German church , our Chamber Hall. It was wonderfull and unforgetable performance! Pity, there is no any HAMMOMD ORGAN in Baku! It is my wild dream to play on. You are great!
I'm with you. just discovered her also. first video I watched was a boogie. I had to double check my video playback setting to make sure I didn't leave at 125%. LOL it was at 100%, this lady is unfreaking real.
Happy New Year 2021 from 🇦🇺! Best fittet organ with expander module and best sounds I know! A Hammond ist not a life style, it's a passion! Brgds from Brisbane 🇦🇺 JB C
Watching her left foot reminds me of those old cartoons where the couple is dancing, and their upper body is still but their lower limbs are dancing furiously...
Sie loves what she does ......you can see it in her face. My father who passed two years ago told me about her when I was younger.....now I know what he ment......
I was about to start learning the organ when i first heard you, and i imediately got discourage when i keard you. Because..........it would've been in more or less, your same style. So i said: what the heck........better i just enjoy this lady.......😂
hello !! ....Barbara Dennerlein on Hammond B3 with this - magic black MIDI box on top - and her beautiful feet-work.... 72y-old-Hippie-and-Yogi from Austria....Love, Peace-&-Happiness ☮~el~🕉~mar~✝
Does anyone know what she's been up to lately? Her website is totally lacking any info about upcoming concerts, other than one in September of this year in Dresden, Germany. I can't find anything on the interwebs about her, besides stuff from 2009. Very mysterious!!
Don't get me wrong, I like Barbara, and I have been listening to her for years. What I can't figure out is why she doesn't use her heel, and just uses her toe. To me, using just your toe takes more energy, and the lines aren't as smooth when not using heel/toe.

She uses another rotating speaker system, I'm not exactly sure what exactly, but definitely not a simulator, and uses the foot switches to control it by hand, a bit unusual, but that's how she does it, no half-moon.
Yea, so what.. . She is great, no doubt about it, fantastic musician. But just about any professional (pipe) organist does this anytime. For extreme pedal dexterity go check out, say, Cameron Carpenter, I don't particularly like his style but his pedal technique is... Just check it out.
Where is that bass player. He show can thumb that base ! Wait a minute. Are you kidding me. Wow. Working them ankle bones. Talk about some serotonin reuptake
Don't forget that English isn't her native language although she speaks it fluently. Sometimes German people speaking English do come across as slightly arrogant without meaning to. It's something to do with accent and the emphasis, not actual arrogance.
There is not an organ player in this world like her. Her left leg is out of this world
Yes, and there is Tony Monaco ;-)

I think you could add Rhoda Scott in the list of pedal virtuosos

Barbara is in a class by herself!

Amen brother! She is Awesome! I would pay to see her perform any day!
How she can do that bass line is just unreal.
The lady is unreal!! A one person band like none I've ever heard...
I've been a BD fan since her 1995 "Take Off!" album. An exceptional B3 talent - one of the best.
The best organist in jazz today, IMO.
Best ever I would say. I have never enjoyed Jazz Organ in the way I enjoy listening to her playing it.
Stunning musician,unbelievable...in the Oscar Peterson,Dizzy Gillespe class. It's Barbara's universe..we just live in it xxx
She is genius and together with De Francesco extending legacy of Jimmy Smith.
Incredible talent

What a huge musician. Wow.
The extra sounds come from the expander module on top of the organ.
The „electronic system“ is called MIDI 😉 Nevertheless a great modification without destroying the original Hammond electronics. 👍

I have one of her riffs as my cell phone ring tone... Really enjoyable performance, she is a real entertainer...
She's got the real blues inside! She is real a "blackhaerted women"! After many years so sweet!! 🤘🎹👍🏼😘😘😘😘😘

Just as talented and beautiful as ever. Love it!

Barbara is great. She is a one's the best Jimmy Smith's followers
LITERALLY a "WALKING" Bass line.
There are musicians playing an instrument and she is the instrument.

Great player, fabulous Hammond Sound.
She is absolutely phenomenal and has a left foot to match Lionel Messi!
You make me wish I’d never sold my B3’s!! At least I wish I could buy a pedalboard like all the 5 octave tone generator Hammonds had.
Magnifique!!!!!!!
Amazing, and swingin’ hard!
Love her!
Bravo Barbara!

NOW I am forgotting Jimmy Smith. UBI MAIOR, MINUS CESSAT
love it

Amazing, could be in love......

She is not Human… we have one Brain, she’s got 4. Absolutely phenomenal playing.
Brilliant!
I'd love to see Barbara play with an AME gospel church in the US and play 'preacher chords' with the sermon. No translation necesessary.

Isn't there a part of her body left, where she could play the drums with?
Hammond Suse am klimpern hört sich ja gut an klasse weiter so
ein bisschen respektlos Herr Alexander...
So beschreibt man keine Weltklassemusikerin! Immerhin: die Fachwelt ist sich wohl einig. Barbara Dennerlein ist eine Ausnahmemusikerin.
I know you must get this asked all the time, but, seriously, is your left leg a little bit bigger than your right?
:)
White magic woman. 🤗

Is it me, or is the sound out of sync?
Suge-!! Kakkoi--!! This Is US!! Great!!
Is she playing through Leslie's?
The cabinet with the rotating speaker is not visible there, which means that Leslie is not. I can't hear it by ear either.
Check 5:48. Not a usual placement for a half moon. Simulator?
