    This is the equivalent of showing up at a boxing gym to get your ass beat by the coach

      Lol, it's 2 mid tier players playing a game in a parking lot with no coach involved.

    the assault marks can be very good, but you need to commit to them to get the value out of it. They need either elite marks and a couple levels or the range upgrade to be viable. I like them in a situation where you have a couple marks early that have a couple levels and your opponent makes a big chaff push early / mid game before giants are more common when you can buy an extra marks or 2 and 2 maks techs at once. If you hit the transition to assault marks right it can be very hard for your opponent to catch up.

    On the hacker observation, they’re really good when your enemy doesn’t have a lot of chaff, or their chaff dies off really quick, if hackers can stay behind a line of sledgehammers or buddied-up with a sabertooth and lock on to medium chaff/giant units it can become a nightmare for the enemy to deal with

    • @Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin
      @Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin 4 місяці тому

      The problem is chaff is good and cheap, so it's pretty common for people to already have the counter to them. If you are countering the opponents chaff handily with AoE, then maybe you can consider them, but by that point it's probably a "win-more" option that is inferior to melting points (or even marksmen).

      @@Flamewarden_Honoushugoshin What you are saying is mostly true. But i think hackers usefulness matters by "meta". Now that tarantula exists hacker has more of a reason to be picked. Previously the board evolved mostly like this: chaff -> chaff counter -> big tanky unit to counter anti-chaff (that probably was wraith or a giant.. but now that there is cheaper middlestep, something that sometimes is already on board on round 1 there are a lot more of these medium costing tanky single units (tarantulas but also their tanky slow moving counters, heck, steelballs are comin back cuz of them being so good against tarantulas so a multihacker makes some sense too). Now a board can look like this: chaff -> tarantula -> opposing hacker or steelballs -> possibly wraith or something from 300 cost range -> giants (or commit more to existing units).
      I have never picked hacker before but i am starting to see how this current meta is pretty near perfect for them. Air units aren't as prevalent and chaff clear is cheaper than before. Heck, if opponent picks something like mustang to clear my chaff i might go tarantula that clears both their chaff AND their mustangs.. and now that opponent has a solid spot to try and hack my tarantula.
      I feel like it went from one of the least used unit (maybe even one of the worst units in some patches) and turned into B-tier unit. It isn't going to be center of attention, it isn't the one that flips whole matches. But it is a really solid anti-meta unit that needs to be respected more now. Especially on boards that bring (tanky) air units later in game.

    Watching you play made me invest in Mechabellum! It's great fun in low MMR thus far lol. Just making silly things work has been a treat.

    Have you tried kamikaze rhino build? It can be pretty fun. Just stack 4 rhino with final blitz or even flank with a couple. Great with speed build to guarantee they get in middle of enemies before going boom. Not crazy competitive vs more skilled players perhaps, but definitely good for laughs.

    • @samamies88
      @samamies88 4 місяці тому

      i haven't tried it but heard about this method:
      - get rhino (preferably already levelled one from card drop)
      - flank opponents weak tower with this rhino
      - next round they are likely to counter your rhino with wasps
      - next turn counter with final blitz to clear that whole pack in one go, if they mispositioned there might be some other chaff that is going away in same go, this feels better if they bought any tech or levelled their wasps xD

    • @josephbirrenkott7993
      @josephbirrenkott7993 4 місяці тому

      @@samamies88 Yeah or with round 4 rhino specialist. Just drop 3-4 on frontlines to combo in with some agro crawlers. They'll be hitting mostly chaff, so they'll live a while and level ok early on. Unless the enemy has dedicated anti-unit en-mass, you can pretty much get at least your money's worth between damage soaked, any units killed, and explosion.
      It doesn't work every time, but a nice cheese at times. Flanks it's ok if you can drop it where no melters or other heavy anti-unit bots will burn it before it can warp in. Otherwise, you're just feeding their melters.

    >how one scorpion is worth 2 melting points
    in midgame a set of sledgehammer and steelballs will hand you your ass if you have 2 melting points, but it will die even to a single scorpion which will be oneshotting both(alongside chaff that would distract the hell out of melting points). Plus a scorpion is amazing to cover your wasps/phoenix by taking half of the pack of mustangs in a single shot. Meltings do an amazing job in its own narrow niche, but often you'd be like "I wish I just had one, but lvl 2-3 and with range upgrade", so getting two lvl1 is like meh

    I have only seen hackers do really well against agressive balls and rhinos. You just distract thel with chaff to prevent them from making contact with the hacker. They get turned before the backline can catch up to support them.

      Hackers are also brutal against Sledgehammers. Since the tanks are awful at killing themselves, getting one hacked stumps the whole unit and usually lets you hack the rest of them for free.

    • @grandlancer
      @grandlancer 4 місяці тому +1

      Fortified Hacker is a trap imo as hackers depend on their range and if they get into enemy range they're already dead. I find the upgrade that restores the captured unit to full health to be essential.

    There are so many fans that would love to play against Grubby, but they will never get the chance.
    Sure, he can´t play against everyone who wants to. But it bothers me that he turns down nice
    people and gets taunted by some unfriendly people to play them.
    The lesson is, dont be friendly and you get what you want.

    Hackers are good vs boards that lack dmg. Fx like steelballs and sledges. But hackers are the worst chaff clearer in the game. They also have the cheapest EM at 100 credits.
    They can also be a good counter to enemy armor enhancement.

      My biggest problem isn't that it's strong, it's more that it's literally the only counter to some things late game. 80% health boost rank 3 with healing and armor tech giant unit? You aren't killing it without a melting point. I had 6 squads of AA and damage tech stangs just hammering on a rank 3 overlord and it did literally nothing. The damage output was far below the regen rate.

    Going from lvl5 to 6 lets say, vs 1 to 2, even thoughbon paper it feels like diminishing returns its actually not, bc you have that extra hp that may keep alive a hard hitter. Also for synergy with items.
