  • The time has come to sell my beloved Chevrolet Impala SS. This car has been amazing over the last 16 years and I look forward to the next owner enjoying it as much as I have. Recently, my town was hit by a Tornado and it caused major rain, leaves, trees, and sticks to fall, subsequently breaking my portable storage tent. Shortly there after the Impala had a small leak because of the clogged rain channels. This video walks you through all the steps I took to bring life back into the SS after our terrible storm and before it goes up for sale. Hope you enjoy!

    For me a car, especially one you've had that long, that's been a big part of your life and shared so many memories with you becomes part of the family. I couldn't imagine letting it go. I've had my 2000 Intrepid since 2006 when I bought it as my first car. I love it as much or more now than I did when I bought it. I've gone on road trips with it, met fellow owners who've become friends, joined a club, gone to the Nationals, moved, and learned how to repair and care for it over the years.
    Life happens, and you do what you must, but if at all possible I don't plan to ever sell mine. You only have one first car.

    Larry, right on target my friend! As car/detailer fanatics, we love our automobiles, and its hard to part with them. Lord knows, I've let a couple go that I wish I had kept, but life moves on and we find new rides to enjoy. As fathers, we will do anything for our families, and that includes lettings the toys go if the need arises. That said...shed a tear or two when she leaves for the last time, but take some solace in the fact that more than likely another young man or woman will start their own path of car ownership, and build their own memories with your Impala...We are caretakers for these wonderful things we call automobiles, and it sounds like the time is right to pass the torch on this one.

      Patrick94GSR oh man keep that as long as you can! My dad had a 92 GSR in Milano red he bought from an older gentleman completely stock and always garaged. I drove it one day and fell in love with it. I figured he would keep it for a while.
      Fast forward a few months later, I found out my dad sold it! My heart sank. I had every intention to buy it from him or by luck, simply give it to me. Man, I wish I communicated that to him I want to have it. The thought of the new owner abusing the car and ricing it out just saddens me more.

    Your speech about the glove box and center console may have been excessive to anyone who hasn't had the aggravating conversation that comes with opening them. Spot on. Also it is nice that it wasn't that bad. I've been cleaning a work truck for about 10hours to get the mold out. It made your situation look like a cake walk.

    Hey Larry, I know this video is a little older but I hope you get a chance to see this. Just a friendly observation as a former mold mitigation specialist. I would recommend that when applying Shag (a great choice for the Hydrogen Peroxide!) apply it directly to your microfiber towel instead of the surfaces. That light mist and puff of air from the bottle can actually cause mold spores to become airborne. If you happen to deal with mold on a fairly regular basis, I would highly recommend grabbing a product called Benefect. It is a fantastic product as well as the worlds only authentic botanical disinfectant. No strong lingering odors or harsh chemicals etc. Lastly, I would encourage you to wear a simple respirator. The mask you have here does nothing to filter out spores. The respirator will filter much better and keep you significantly safer. Fantastic video as always! Keep up the hard work!

    Razorblade on windhshields is the BEST way to clean them, hands down. Spritz a little water on the window, go over it with a blade, then you can use way less product and elbow grease to wipe up the little remaining residue. I drive 100 miles a day for my work so I get lots of bug impacts, the razorblade method has saved me a lot of time.

    I totally understand about the armrests/console thing. When I worked at Costco gas station in Lewisville, TX, a Ford Expeditio's battery died. Since it was against policy and not real smart to jump a battery while sitting between 12 gas pumps, the owner asked if I could steer while he pushed this monster out of the station. I know that if something has come up missing, or something for damaged, I'd be at fault. I told him I'd push the truck out and HE could steer. CYA, Baby. I then jumped his truck off with my car battery, and he was on his way. Cover Your Ass is the name of the game. I'm a female, btw, and that was the biggest vehicle I'd ever pushed in my life!

    I recently had a very severe mild problem with my rx8 that has been off the road for 2 years. I went straight for steam cleaning and household products but it was incredibly awkward so I stripped the interior and cleaned everything multiple times with more aggressive household products in the house and luckily it’s now fully clean and dry. Could have saved myself a lot of hassle I’d dealt with the mild this way

    I just watched this episode and I can't tell how important it is to be careful around mold. three months ago I found my dream car a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 fastback in North Carolina and I drove it back to my home in Ohio. the car had mold in it but like a huge dumbass, I ignored it and suffered an idiopathic pulmonary hemorrhage and just got out of the hospital and have pretty much lost everything. In other words, don't mess around with mold

      In the current market they are quite affordable. Unless you're looking for one with super low miles, you can find them all day around 5-7k in decent-good condition; rough ones for around 3k.

    I know this video is old but if I can spread some knowledge, I will. I've owned a professional window cleaning company for over 20 years. When you blade glass, keep it soaking wet, blade down one stroke at a time. Get to the bottom of a stoke, lift up, clean your blade in1 downward direction on a towel. Take another pass.
    If you go back and forth, up and down in an erratic manner, you run the risk of a partical being lodged under the blade and causing a scratch. Trust me my way is the safe, efficient, effective way to blade glass. No need for micro-scrarches like you'll see on black paint.
    BTW you did the right thing as a man, husband, father and dad.

    Is "Max AC" not recirculate on the old chevys?

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina 6 років тому +1

      jborgar "Max AC" uses the recirculate function automatically, but does not recirculate the inside air continuously. In some vehicles it also maxes out the speed of the fan (makes it very noisy as well). Many of the older vehicles did not have a true recirculate function, more of a "sort of closed off" feature. Newer vehicles will completely close off the air coming in from the outside from the HVAC system, to prevent smoke or other unpleasant smells from entering the vehicle.
