My personal experience is the cost of dwelling in DC is pricey but the cost of living is average so it makes it worth it being there. Can't wait to move back there.

Living in DC as a young professional is financially irresponsible. But in some professions, it's a necessity. I lived in Adams Morgan before it was hip. It cost more than I could afford. You could only walk on the north side of Columbia Road, because gangs owned the south side. My car was vandalized, and my apartment was robbed of everything I valued. Yet, I remember the experience fondly.
So a blue collar worker such as myself making 28$ an hour. I’m priced out. 2200 $ for a 1 bedroom is utterly ridiculous . Also factor in 75$ speed cameras on every corner. That may be another 200 $ a month if you don’t know where they at..

Coming from NYC, DC is cheap. Literally half the price for rent.
NYC is expensive!
