i think a good video you have the knowledge to make is raising discus, the stages they go through. im new in this discus world and have had my discus for about a month now. they are just juveniles, about 3" long. they are brown with some black verticle stripes. from what i hear they change greatly through the adolescent stages. im so excited for when new lines start to form on my little guys! i want a blue one so bad! cheers man!

SOLID advice as always! As you say, the secret is getting the right amount CO2 and light. I had good lights before, but when I started using CO2, it was like, "POW!" Big difference! You also have to feed all that growth to get the best results. I'm curious about your dosing advice, but I guess that's another story for another day! Thanks for the vid!

I have a breeding pair of Blue Mosaic Leopard Discus, and they Just laid eggs on the day of my water change. Luckily, it was after I finished the water change. I know I cant do a water change until the eggs hatch, but is the next water change going to be when they are wigglers, or when they are free-swimming? Thank you!

I've got a question. I recently bought a Discus proven breeding pair a month ago. They are healthy, fat, they love me (they love the food I give them, but I like to pretend they love me), and they lay eggs once a week and guard them. When they see me, the female gets closer to the eggs, and the male attacks me.. But every time, the eggs slowly get less and less over the course of 2 days, and then they're gone. They get daily 50% water changes, PH is 6.2, and hardness is 55ppm. They are in a 20 gallon high, painted white in a low traffic room. I feed them Beef Heart twice a day, give them 2 minutes to eat, and then I remove everything with a net. It is filtrated by a sponge filter. Any suggestions on what Is should do?

I used Diane Walstad’s method of my photo period. My LED lights are from China. Not a great brand, but it works. I used a electric timer for that photo period. I’m looking for a LED light that can change its light during the day and turn down in the evening.

I tought you have to condition first the water and then put the water in your tank I want to know if you try this in a discus tank before .. so maybe I can try amd stop carrying buckets all the time Thanks for your time
My discus breeding pair are attacking each other aggressively , whenever the other gets near the eggs, and you can hear it from like 6 feet away. What to do?
I used to have a similar lighting system and had wonderful growth with all my super rare plants like my rare crypts and my echinodorus iguazu, with CO2 and ferts. But these massive LED lights produce so much heat that they require internal fans, which in most cases of these types of lights are obnoxiously loud sometimes in a family/living room. They also use a ton of power, i had 2 180watt LED plant lights and it shot up my electric bill by $44. I was floored at how much power these things use, I downgraded to the Fluval plant light, and get the same wonderful growth with no obnoxious fan noise and a smaller electric bill. Plus, those lights caused my plants to grow so fast i was burning through ferts like no tomorrow...definitely a lighting system for extreme planted tank keepers.
These new lights have very quiet fans and much more efficient led systems. Glad you are happy going from a Rolls Royce to a VW. Enjoy the hobby that's what's important.

Just started a tank (75 gallon) which will eventually be a Discus community tank. Was hoping to order all of my fish from here based on the reviews and reputation. I had nothing living in my tank yet, just cycled and ready for the initial fish. Ordered 15 cardinal tetras, 4 rams and a pleco. The pleco had ich upon arrival so I upped my tank temp from 84 to 88 and started medication. Sadly the pleco and now 5 of the tetras have died. The whole tank has ich. Reached out to let them know and they replied the can assure me they didn't ship a fish with ich. Well where did it come from then? No inverts, nothing else in the tank.... I know it's unavoidable in the hobby but the response was not great. Pretty disappointing experience.Please note how this business replies to honest negative reviews. I own a business and wouldn't treat my worst customer close to this. I have had negative reviews of my business and still learn from them with a humble attitude. In complete disbelief how unprofessional Gabe is. The only thing wrong I did here was order from this business. This is not my first tank and I am not ignorant to the problems within the hobby. Don't order from them if you are considering it. Learned my $200 mistake.
@Nathan there are some awesome things to your comment , despondency is not a good thing for any fishkeeper as your story gives me a little bit of someone's opinion and the fact that you felt cheated by the order of fish. I know that you stated you were brand new to this hobby . I like many other beginners learned from my mistakes ,I hope since the time of your $200 loss due to a parasite that is a simple process for curing and the cases that end in fatalities are few. Simple and easy for you to get everything that you need and then you should be able to take care of your own problems and not create a huge one of your own personal failures. That's definitely the best conclusion and I think you are the only one who has been found to be a great example of what not to do and so very wrong of you having to celebrate the fact your an idiot , and the proof that you have some serious issues in your peesonal life is not hard to find on the internet and by reading this any pet lover can summarize your completely irresponsible. Those ligts look similar to some badly designed, uneficent, overheating light tested by #migrow, lights purposed to grow pot/weed.
