Clara is one of my all time favorite companions. I never understood the hate she gets. I never really cared for her during her shorten time with Matt Smith but series 8 and 9 made me love her. Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman were perfect together
The time gaps are huge with Clara-there are years (canonically and metaphorically) between her first appearance as a nanny and her death in Face The Raven, and there are many many many more years from The Doctor's perspective.
I don't think she's unpopular enough to be underrated anymore though. I mean Moffat's entire era and everything abt it from the companions, to the Doctors, to the stories, to the effects e.t.c is considered by many to be the best the show has ever been.
Can clara come back in "season 3 " of ncuti?,only steven and time would say , because maybe if she comes back after that memory recovery in "twice upon a time" for the doctor thanks to testimony ,will be great seeing clara ,with or without ashildr/me one last time and maybe see her coming back as she was destined since hell bent to her death point😭🙏
personally i feel like the actress over stayed her welcome. By the time of Capaldi, Clara's character had served her purpose. We wrapped up why she was "the impossible girl." Instead the actress stayed on and we had it be her who told the Doctor to run away. We had it be her who gave the Doctor night terrors about monsters under the bed. By the time of "face the Raven" i know of women who actually cheered when Clara died. Me personally, I was already loosing interest. Amy and Rory's last half season felt mid. Clara's first part was interesting enough. I stuck around when I saw that John Hurt would be playing a Doctor. Would of left if not for Capaldi replacing Matt Smith. And when Bill Potts joined, I left. Two episodes of "you know im gay yeah bruv? You know im gay? Did i mention how I'm gay, yeah?" I never really thought much of Clara on the first watch. Rewatching it recently, god she was terrible. The way she treated Danny, the constant lying. And the actress... from resting bitch face to "how fast can i say my lines?"
I don't think that's fair considering one of the reasons she was hired was BECAUSE she could talk so fast and was the only actress who could say their lines faster than Smith
I like Clara, she was let down by the same rubbish writing that's let down the series since season 7, even Capaldi couldn't always make that look good. Martha Jones has to be almost the worst companion, her episodes are reasonably well written and still she makes them hard to watch. Then again Bill's characterisation is as flat as the acting, not sure if she'd have done better if she had a script worth reading but still pulled the episode down like Martha so is probably the worst. Whilst I don't remember enough about Whittakers companions or Banana Sunday from the new one as the doctor, writing and everything else is so bad I've not bothered. Although Aleric has to be the worst in character, he's the only one that even as the doctor I'd have found gun and shot.
