- Steve is a lifelong comic book collector, turned hoarder. At one point his comic book collection reached 250,000 comics. But now that Steve is moving, he is forced to part with a sizeable amount of his comic book hoard. Watch as Steve races to put together a bulk sale of comic book longboxes full of DC, Marvel, Image and other comic books.
Loved the video!💕 Just started my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They offer a huge variety of digital comics for every genre, and lifetime updates too!😍
I wish people would just recycle their Jon Sable, Malibu, and anything they personally call "garbage nobody wants".
I learned more about the comic book market than I ever have before just watching this video
I"ll take it all, get in touch
P.S.I personally have never seen any types of Comics, Magazines,or any other actual Books become worthless at any time whatsoever, but this is difficult for you and frustrating as hell and I myself have been through it as well.
This is why I have gone strictly digital now.
I would be terrified of moisture or water overflow/ roof collapse etc
Bro has a fourth dimension shed. :o
Valiants Magnus #1 isn’t the characters first appearance is why it’s not valuable.
I live in northern NJ and looking to buy
Your 1st Issue's,Annuals,of many many different and various types of titles will actually be the most valuable to actually hold on to but if you really need to sell everything you've got at 300 Comics A Long Box think about how much thise Comics are actually worth presently and go from there because this will never happen again and you don't want to have any types of regrets afterwards, because what you actually have would most likely cost me a few million dollars for me to actually get ahold of that amount of comics nowadays realistically so be careful and stay realistic about what you actually want and need financially my friend and good luck to you.*😊"
Where you from?
All your chit will get stolen now...
Holy Crom! thats alot of boxes. i had 14 short boxes and i thought that was alot lol. i downsized to 9. i'd love to pair down to just keys and stories that i truly love but i can't lol
good luck selling . most of it will be just about worthless.
people still believe that if they keep and save a lot of crap for decades that it will become valuable over time .
unfortunately the opposite becomes true and most of the stuff will become just about worthless since
there are no more buyers to be found . most of the time people will not even know what most of the stuff
is all about , it has gotten old ,unknown and forgotten . sad but true .
You are a ray of sunshine huh
What city do you live?
If you still have the cards lets talk
Do you have eBay or facebook marketplace
Yikes…
Waste not. Not want. A wantless need, and a needless want. When you've got nothing left to use, you've got nothing left to lose. 🔥💙🔥
That Archie show was your chance!!!!! Them things are worth nothing man, Archie fans are getting ripe, time to move them
So ur just selling ur crap
Pawn stars..."the best i can do is $5 for your collection."😂
There was one episode where the younger guy bought a collection that had New Mutants 98 in it. Then their “expert” came in and said it was all worthless and the comics were worth 5 cents each.
😂
Will you take 5.50$
Whoa! Im losing money here.
Overstock means the stuff comic stores couldn’t sell for years. Even in $1 bins.
Agreed
This is the best collection I’ve ever seen in my life.
After 15 years of collecting and 5 short boxes of keys, low print runs, rare variants, there is only a few more books I want. You have a ton of comics and personality I would just keep the ones that you really care about and sell the rest.
This is the way.
There’s no way you’re sorting through that in 4 days.
OMG. My blood pressure was going up just watching this 😅
alf 48 is one of the only comics i have still from my childhood haha....u want it?
I’ve got 120 longboxes and it’s way too much. Tried culling the stuff I don’t need but that’s tough in itself because I’ve got so much emotionally invested in a large part of it.
You don't "need" any of it. Hoarding is a mental condition.
@@Hingusbingus4 Well you're wrong, you also need shelter. But back to my point, hoarding, is a mental illness.
My daughter in law's father passed away, and he hoarded everything. Record albums, unopened CD's, unopened DVD's, Hot Wheel cars , autographed pictures, MLB Baseball bats and Gloves, Baseball Caps, cards, and Jackets, Unopened toys, Multiple copies of Playboy and other adult books still in sealed bags, and about ten long boxes of comics. I just wish he spent his money just on comics. I can't hold a yard sale selling adult magazines.
I can't believe I watched every minute. 👍 congrats
Me too 😁
I must be the only person who likes Malibu and Valiant comics. Sure, Marvel and DC have my favorites but I always liked the other two companies growing up as a kid in the 90s.
Malbu was short lived but still has a big following. many of us are still holding out hope for a revival of the characters but legally it seems impossible. even if the creators want to bring them back, marvel still owns all the rights..... or do they? its all a strange legal mess!
Oh no. I love Valiant. I have complete runs of several series. Valiant is great. I still buy them.
With that exceedingly large inventory of comics you would need a store to sell them because it would take forever to list them on eBay and mail them to buyers. I hope you made back your money.
wholesale me a couple boxes. I want to get into comics
I have about forty short boxes and I was getting mad at myself. This just shows that my collection is tiny - thanks for making me feel better about myself! :)
This video is amazing. It's like the House Of Leaves of comics.
So there cherry picked already so its a 1 dollar bin books
great stuff! i personally don't think any comic is worthless. many of todays keys we're at one time or another in the bargain bin. plus, great stuff for the guy that just loves to read and appreciate comics and nostalgia in general. i for one love Malubu's ultraverse. many of us out there that enjoy those books! englehart, gerber, warren ellis, etc.... Great stuff! I'm hoping beyond hope that Marvel (or someone else) revives those wonderful characters!!! oh, and that animated series was FANTASTIC!!!! sad that valiant is still considered a notch or two above trash but i still read and enjoy Bloodshot! I agree, Mike Grell's Sable literally IS everywhere and seemingly 0 interest in it. but i'm one of the few people that still remember the TV show and that it was once considered a HOT book. It truly is a shame cause it's still a good quality read and everything you'd expect from a Mike Grell book!
New sub here. That was definitely fun! Look forward to checking out new content. Let’s #growtogether and stay tuned.
Fascinating! Thanks for sharing!
Omg, I’am so glad I found ur channel. This is amazing ur collection, I’am a “hoarder” too. Lol, IF I knew you and lived close to you I would have volunteered to help rent a 10x30 indoor storage space, that way you could take ur time going through everything. Blessings to you and Family.🤠☀️👍
you could easily hire 1-2 people , who are comic knowledgeable, to help you sort
wow, great video. thanks so much
30 minutes in at this moment. 90s comics were massively over produced. The speculation brought about by newbie shop owners, many of whom were ball card dealers fleeing the same glut destruction they caused in that market, devastated comics and apparently left many warehouses and store rooms full of "hot" comics.
Yeah they may temporarily "heat up" again, but what happens when people realize there are tens of thousands of unsold copies out there.
There are dealers with hundreds of copies of many issues that they bought at pre-order prices or warehouse bulk prices. And this goes back at least to the very early 80s with X-Men, Daredevil, etc.
My first comics were in 1987 when I was 10. Awesome collection you got. I'm a bronze age type of collector
Good years 1986 to 89. My brother and me loved Marvels... The Nam. Good series on the Vietnam War. Also bought Sgt. Rock and few other series.
I have 34 short boxes. A ton from Ollie's Bargain Market and Half price books over the 40 years of my comic book collecting.
The books that I sold are the ones that end up in Ollie’s. This is how the business model for those packs works: the person packing them buys these collections and then sells them to Ollie’s.
@@funnybookfamilyI buy from Half price and Ollies too so that means my collection is based of leftovers 😅
Where's the golden age?
What if you want to look in the box in the bottom left corner of that back wall ❤ 😔 but WOW AMAZING COLLECTION
Fascinating, but absolutely mentally exhausting to think about sorting this stuff, let alone trying to sell it. Love your organization of your filing cabinet comics, but the boxes are a nightmare, it must keep your brain absolutely scrambled just thinking about it.
great collection, but the more the video went on the more anxiety built up. reminded me of when i had 5 days to pack up everything i had. had no time to relax besides eat and nap and back to packing.
😮😮 static.. again !!?? Everywhere ive looked lately this "static" keeps showing up !!
Hilarious to read some of these comments. Do you guys realize how much money he just made? Some of you either only watched the first 30 seconds or have terrible comprehension skills.
40 minutes in and Im actually finding out that this video was posted 3 months ago as it was being presented as actually being posted 9 hours ago and this was actually sekf defeating and pointless currently on 03/O2/2024 of March -"Yeah."
Well he did mention it was December.
Yeah same here. I was excited over a possible box with 80s Daredevil and dirt cheap independents. Lost my collection in a fire and was hoping he was either close or could mail.
I still haven't finished watching the video yet. Nearly a third of the way in I had to stop watching.
Amazing that there are so many collections like this out there. And knowing dealers buy truckloads by the weight makes me wonder why the prices are so high on so many comics. The market seems rather like a Blood Diamond scenario.
@@chantillycat5415that’s blows
If you read what you collect, then the spending would be worth it whether it is 1 dollar or 100dollar
I own a total of *50 Omnibuses, 50 Epic Collections and 50 Graphic Novels* (toss in a Compendium or two). And I thought THAT was too many. The first comic book I ever read as a kid was *Amazing Spider-Man #20. "The Coming of the Scorpion"*
I try not to buy everything and only focus on ASM for the most part. If i find something I really like, i'll buy it but I definitely hold back because of space issues.
Oh wow! Yeah, i downsized and not collecting anything anymore.
Oh I would love to finish my Asm, web of or Wolverine run. I’ve never saw so much comics before. I really like the vault, great idea and well organized.
Dude seeing those comics not bagged and boarded up literally has me pulling my hair out
Maybe some people
Wait for that John Sable movie to be announced
I'm gonna spec on it
You should take all the comics with you and open up your own comic book shop cause that is what I would do and you should sell a ton of them too.
The problem is the cost of rental space. Two comic shops have gone out of business in my area recently. There’s just not enough people buying comics at the moment, it seems.
I watched the whole thing. And I was feeling your anxiety.
Mike Grell's Jon Sable getting no love :( 6:46
where you located i would buy boxes? i'll take 5 boxes
Malibu crap??…how dare you!😂
Let's open a store. You have enough there to get it off the ground.
Naked and Afraid is kind of the opposite situation, but watching this gives me similar vibes.
I guess, you really like comics huh?
God I would love to read that lot.. wow
I just listed a few dozen items on ebay while watching this
Sounds like the wife laid down the law and said either the comics go or he goes...
No, that’s not what happened. As I stated repeatedly, we moved.
The name of this channel is “Funnybook Family.” My wife is fine with me buying & selling comics.
ill definitely try that, thanks!
I want to come dig sooooo bad haha
Just open a store in the town you move to.
I would love to buy books from you
what is the name of you E Bay Store ?
Comics on comics on comics
I just saw the pinned comment and Pawn Stars offered $5 only for 90k comics? That's a joke. Even if they're not collectable they're worth $0.25 each so that's at least $22,500 if you sold each one for a quarter. PS was only offering you $0.00005 for one comic. They know they would get at least $900 for them. That's one cent per book.
My brother and I own our own comic and retro game store. Would you take $20k for the lot? We can't go higher. But only for the lot shown in this video. We can't buy anymore for now.
Hey There. Just found this video. I'd love - if you still have boxes- to buy from you. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this man. This is how my garage looks. But I have about 1/100th of your collection 😊
One big 🔥🔥🔥 and that’s it SMH
Cherry picked fire starters
do you still have some?
I've got about 16,000. I've decided to pair down to a pretty focused collection and sell off the rest.
You definitely don't want to sell $80,000 worth of Comics for $1000 to $5000 dollars instead, but your trying to get rid of everything quickly and be extremely realistic about the value and costs and I feel sorry for you as I fully understand the situation your in and hopefully thing work out great for you and your family and you deserve at least that most of all as you've actually put so much money behind everything you have and must let go of so fast now"WOW!"
ang daming komiks
If you are looking to move it all let me know. Depends where you are. I buy large mixed inventory but would buy it all as long as its not just independent. I would need the mix with marvel and dc
Username checks out
Whats the humidity level in the area? Do you use a dehumidifier in that garage? Bec here in Ottawa its considered dry here but during Spring to Fall i can fill a 50pint dehumidifier every 1-2days at 40% humidity level
It’s interesting you see this as hoarding or an amazing amount- I feel collectors I know have about 1/2 of what we see here. They also just have less indie and have it a lot more organized.
Do you think he made his money back?
What a journey lol. Thank you for documenting it, it was fun to watch. The buyer delaying for a week was a huge blessing in the end.
Even at cover price all of them are literally worth millions of dollars in all actuality and will most likely be bought by various types of financially secure individuals who definitely would like to actually have all of them for themselves currently,so don't worry about it and just enjoy the attention and the actual prospect's of getting real buyer's and other Big Comic Collectors who may actually see your video presently-"Man Im somewhat envious of you and that extraordinarily large Collection tgat you have ultumately brought together-"Wonderful!!"
Man, sorting and moving that many boxes would literally have killed me. If I did survive I'd never want to touch another comic again. Hope you can keep shrinking it down to be as manageable as possible. You've seen long term hold bulk issues just doesn't pay off. You or whoever inherits it always just ends up bulking it all.
😵😵💫🥵 i know you've already moved, but I would really like to know how it went in a follow-up video!
I just love returning to your video just to look at the boxes. Just organizing would be euphoric.
Wow, I wish i could find that many longboxes, or any for that cheap. Where do you find $40 longboxes?
I’m interested
I use lateral file cabinets and CLZ too. The cabinets are great. Much better than long boxes
Is this garage climate controlled....and if not, do you have any problems with that affecting the comics?
6:20 You even have a German edition of Spider-Man "Die Spinne" issue #83 from the 70s. In VF 10,- EUR
Do you still have any boxes left I’d DEF be instead in purchasing them
