    Unlike just about any other superstar in the medium, when Todd goes on a promotional tour he does interviews with literally anyone from a channel with 500 subscribers to a couple of thousand or a million. It's impressive for someone who has so much on his plate, but he doesn't seem to take a single opportunity or even a single fan for granted.

    Outstanding! You just let Todd go and the energy and joy he has for art and collectibles is so contagious, it's like you're still talking to that 16 year old boy! I love his art and he pretty much changed the way toys were made, the quality and detail he puts into everything he does is off the wall. I still remember seeing those first toys at a show and without hesitation me and my friend were buying enough cases to go direct. I still remember filling my house with cases and cases of every line he made! The feeling of opening them when they arrived was just amazing, and they sold fast! The memories of first seeing his art in ASM 298 is still vivid in my mind, that run is still today one of my favorite runs in comics. And what you see in this interview is the real Todd, if you are lucky enough to spend any time around him he is just as down to earth as you can get. This man is a national treasure, he stands tall right up there with likes of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Siegel & Shuster, Bill Finger, Jim Shooter, etc.. And he is not done...

    • @thecatwrangler9448
      @thecatwrangler9448 10 місяців тому

      Humble… did you watch the entire thing??? He cried thinking he was special for getting Stan Lee to sign a Spawn a comic and then pretended like Stan Lee would not sign one (when he 1000% knows that Stan did because you can find CGC dates showing him signing issues of Spawn after Todd…. And the best part? He definitely doesn’t have anything close to the most valuable Stan Lee signed Spawn issue because almost all of the ones fans have listed for sale have both of their signatures and obviously Todd couldn’t be happy getting Stan to autograph Spawn #1 by himself 😂

    Fantastic interview, love Todd's DPS of Gunslinger (by Brett Booth and Adelso Corona) _but_ sorry to burst Todd's bubble: I own the first DPS of Gunslinger Spawn (also by Brett and Adelso) of Gunslinger on a motorcycle from the Gunslinger short story at the end of King Spawn 1. I'm also the guy who Brett and Adelso were going to sell the complete Gunslinger #1 to, but I ran out of money after buying all their first Gunslinger pages from SpawnU #1 and King Spawn #1... and I prefer those prequel pages to the Gunslinger #1 pages anyway. ;)

    I'm a huge comic book & Todd McFarlane fan, but what really stood out to me on here was the story of Barry Bonds' 73rd home run ball. That's the famous ball from the "Up For Grabs" documentary where the two guys fought it out in court over who was the legal owner of the ball, as one of them claimed to have caught it before the other knocked it (allegedly) out of the first guy's glove in an ensuing scuffle. I remember the whole debacle didn't sit well with sports fans/collectors back then who felt it was a bit of a black eye on their community. The judge eventually ruled that the two guys were BOTH the owners & would have to split the profit of the ball at auction, which was estimated at around 1.5 million! Well, things obviously didn't work out the way they had hoped lol, & I think one or both also ended up losing money due to court fees & such. Anywho, I always figured the ball went for way less amongst Todd & the other buyers because of the controversy, but Todd's reason for the selling price definitely makes sense as well...awesome stuff! ✌️

    What sold me as a kid on Mcfarlane's art was his goddamn environments. Getting characters down is one thing, environments is another. Making the character 'feel' like they're in said environment, whatever it may be, he always made it work, and McFarlane originated Spawn; Capullo 'made' Spawn-A 90's kid perspective.

    That Orioles jersey is my favorite piece ..though I'm a massive Toddfather and KISS fan ...I know Steve Geppi. Got me into comics when I moved to Baltimore and he still had retail stores,GEPPIS COMIC WORLD. I frequented the inner harbor store in Harborplace.
    He literally sold me the first books I ever owned and was always EXTREMELY kind to me, an 11 year old kid that had just moved to the city from the corn fields of Illinois, anytime he was in the shop. Awesome memories.

    Todd is so awesome and an inspiration. I love his work and love how he shares his experience and insight in the industry. Love how he’s a collector himself. I remember the Spawn movie that came out, I thought it was awesome seeing the character come to life. Nothing came close to that movie during that period. I can’t wait for the new movie. Anxiously waiting since I heard that it’s being made. Wish I could have (and afford) to get Todd’s signature on one of my Spawn comics (just picked up issue #350 today. It’s awesome!!!!). My first comic convention I attended I met Stan Lee and had him sign a Todd McFarlane Spider-Man cover. I have been waiting for years for McFarlane to come to the same convention so I could meet him and get his auto on the same cover. I don't really travel to conventions, so I'm beginning to doubt he will ever come so I will probably not get that dual auto. I have a decent amount of key comics, but for me that would be my grail. It was really cool to see him show the dual auto comics he owns.
