The air nomads like monks from the Himalayas, and the Earth Kingdom in all varieties, like people from the Orient, Persians, Arabs, Turks as well as Indians and Chinese. But the fire nation has always been very strange to me, as it looks like it is quite close to the Japanese culture in my opinion, but the population seems quite European, maybe I would compare the ideology of this people with that of fascism and the totalitarian regime, somehow like European people but with Asian culture

Wow the casting in the 2010 movie was absolutely terrible. The only actors that look ANYTHING like the characters they were playing were Azula and Yue. Both characters, ironically, in the netflix version are the only casting choices I think are fails this time around. All the other casting in the 2024 Netflix seem well chosen.
Azula in the movie looks a lot more intimidating to me!
I also think aang looks better in the movie, not the tattoo, i mean the casting.

The Netflix live-action series made almost every character look spot on to the original, unlike the 2010 live-action film.

Im partial to the airbender tattoos. 2010 is actually pretty realistic as no one would get a solid arrow tattoo. So the airbender symbols forming an overall arrow shape is pretty neat and it looks sooo badass in the avatar state. It seems Netflix agreed but took a safer approach by still having a solid arrow shape with airbender symbols etched in as details. Acceptable too. Okay with either.
The 2010 Zuko got mistreated 😂
2010 Princess Yue ( Seychelle Gabriel ) was better imo.
It's also cool how she later voiced Asami Sato in the Legend of Korra afterwards
My opinion on the visuals of the actors:
Aang: 2010 had a better arrow. 2024 looks more like the OG, but a little big eyebrows.
Katara: Neither is good. One has blue eyes, but is ethnically wrong, the other is ethnically correct, but doesn't look like Katara AT ALL (eyes, hair, skin colour, facial shape).
Sokka: 2010 Sokka is pretty good looking, but ethnically wrong. 2024 Sokka looks more like the Ember Island version of him, but I guess ethnically right (?)
Zuko: 2010 is just NO. 2024 is way better and ethnically accurate (minor details... the facial shape, skin colour and the scar that looks more like a punch)!!!
Iroh: Again, 2010 just NO. 2024 way closer to the OG, but I would like him to look more cunning and wise. Now he looks more like a funny, cute old man (he has that side, but he has the other one, as well).
Ozai: Just the 2024! He looks accurate!!!
Azula: 2010 probably looks more like Azula than the 2024 one... Probably, because of facial shape that gives off cute girl vibes...
Zhao: Both are bad!!! Zhao in the cartoon was quite young and good looking...
Gran Gran: I guess the 2024 version is better than the 2010 one...
Pakku: Both quite bad... 2024 version looks more accurate, but also kind of fake..?
Yue: The 2010 version was really good!!! Though, she needed some changes in costume and hair, she looked closer to the OG, than the 2024 version that looks like bad cosplay...
Gyatso: The 2024 version was really good! (No comments on the 2010 version.)

Honestly yeah, I get it’s a cartoon and their faces are very slim in it but still, and it’s not like they have 10/10 acting to make up for it. If a character is played by someone who doesn’t look like them at all, it can be redeemed if the actor is REALLY good, and the actors and bad at all, but there not good enough to excuse it

I prefer M. Night's Iroh in some ways, particularly how angered he got when Zhao killed the moon spirit, and how he let the water benders finish off Zhao (by drowning him in midair...incredible). And Dev Patel as Zuko was probably the one good casting choice in M. Night's version.

I agree, it's a much nicer and more artistic treatment rather than simply drawing an arrow. Works fine in a cartoon but it doesn't have to look exactly the same in the live-action, as it makes it look more cosplayish
despite only seeing a few seconds of Azula in 2010, she really does just looks more like her... everything else Azula does in the 2nd and 3rd season, I'm just not seeing it from 2024 at present, I hope I'm proven wrong... because she is such an important character, if she's not convincing, it does destroy the whole thing, and Mai, and Tai Lee for that matter, still questioning them, they should've got a gymnast for Tai Lee, or, maybe they did, and we're yet to see it... Daniel Dae Kim is such an awesome cast for Ozai...

@@mr.iiconic the casting is more based on the inspirations for the nations... a lot of those being Asian in origin, it's not too drastically different in that regard, so it wasn't where my criticisms lie... Daniel Dae Kim as Ozai doesn't completely match up in appearance, yet people love him, got those interesting sexualised vibes towards Ozai, which will make for some interesting discussions in future seasons when we see him fighting more... If the actor has the natural athleticisms to play the character, like Zuko's actor does, then I'll forget the criticisms... aside from plot Armor, it looks like Zuko's actor as Zuko would win in a fight against her, and if Azula did win, it would look weirdly unnatural... Azula's menace comes across as bratty, that's zuko's thing... perhaps not just an actor thing... my biggest concern is they give Azula a redemption arc in the live action, considering she goes off the rails there, I want to see crazy, and not just, yelling...

I think the new live action characters are great! Sokka looks like himself and the rest of the cast of characters look so close to their original appearances. I will say that Yue looks a little weirder in the 2024 live action series but other than that I like the way the rest of the cast looks! Aang looks pretty cool! I still like his character appearance too!

The scrip for the show is not as hood as id hoped it would be especially when they change key characters and the role they play in the storry
if you mix the dna of both live action versions you get the characters to look exactly like the original (except for Ozai, the newer live action already looks spot on)

Ngl, I think an interesting phenomena I’ve seen with the live action show is how even the critics who dislike it also appraise it. I partially believe it is because of two things, the show is already a massive undertaking so anything they got right would be worthy of appraisal and even though people tried to not compare it to the source anime, I think they had an even harder time if not impossible time comparing it the Live action movie.
