Nice catches. I happened to have a live performance of Van Halen "Mean Street" playing when I clicked on this and it melded almost perfectly with the music in this video. 🤣
Nice. A friend and I did a compilation of drag racing and motorcycle race wipeouts to a van halen song, way back in the VHS days... glad you enjoyed it.
@@ThatOpalGuy I had to rewatch this. I'm by no means an expert but you may have captured some sprites in some of the photos. they look like weak or dim small versions of a lightning bolt. they usually happen up above the storm but can trail downward sometimes. they are really rare. and the tripod bump is actually cool shot btw
sprites, elves, green ghosts, all form above the clouds. maybe if this storm was a hundred miles away, or more, I would have a better chance of catching them. even so, not sure this camera could do it.
@@ThatOpalGuy maybe not thinking of sprites. i forget the term. sprites might be the reddish deals. the ones im thinking of just look like small dim bolts and don't usually last long enough to get a photo of
It's like you're at a volcano catching the lightning when it's erupting... Very cool shots.. you must have taken hundreds to get so many hits .. Great video ☁️🌩️⚡🌩️☁️ Did you have an automatic shot setting, or just your reflexes?
@@ThatOpalGuy that's so interesting... I've never taken pictures like that before and often wondered how people caught such a fast thing happening. I thought maybe just filming and lifting it off the video. I love watching a good electrical show, storms in general fascinates me. I love walking on the beach during a tropical storm, or a low grade hurricane. I've done it many times and there's nothing like it. Great job Don...
You captured some amazing pictures! Stunning.
it was one of the best lightning displays I have seen here in Idaho, and certainly the best I have taken photos of.

It is kind of wild that you were able to witness so many amazing lightning images. Thank you, I love it!
It truly was amazing. and I missed half the storm
Great captures! That’s so hard to do and get good photos. Love it.
thanks, Jeff! there are still some areas I can improve.
Some great pics mate
@@gillysable thanks, I am so glad you like them. Thanks for watching.
Crazy cool!!!
thanks! glad you enjoyed it.
Nice photography TOG!
@@opaladdictjoe thank you very much! I need to do more editing on them. Some of those bolts are overexposed.

those are red sprites, they can reach up to 200 km high, if I correctly recall.

@AlabamaUSA1234 nah. Almost every picture has lightning. Maybe 20 didn't. Set the shutter for 15 to 25 seconds of exposure.
