They captured the character of Boston so well in this game. We drove from Rhode Island to drop off our kids at a Cramps show during the historic World Series in which Boston finally beat the Yanks. We couldn’t find the club which was tucked away behind Fenway (and also it’s Boston). We asked a pedestrsian for directions, and to this day we still quote, “You mean the fuckin’ *nightclub* ?” He further reprimanded us with, “You know what’s going on over there? It’s called ‘the *World Series* ‘.” It was hilarious. Although not so hilarious when a girl got a rubber bullet thru the eye coming out of that same nightclub during a riot. @@modeman15It’s a simple sport, 8 players minimum for both teams. There are 9 innings unless it’s tied then you keep going until someone scores. You can score either by knocking the ball so far out that you lose it (a Home Run), or you manage to run around the 3 bases back to home without being tagged by the ball. If you’re on base you are safe from being tagged, but only one person can be on a base at a time. If the bases are ‘loaded’ as in all 3 have someone on them and the next person up to bat scores a home run it’s called a Grand Slam. You get 1 point for every person you manage to get around the bases. When batting you can get struck out if you swing and miss, or if the ball is thrown within an imaginary box that is basically the reasonable range at which you can be expected to be able to hit the ball. Outside of that it’s considered a ball. 3 strikes and you’re out. 4 balls and you automatically get on base. And for 200 caps (the max payout) you need to risk life and limb clearing out diseased and mutated animals and ghouls to get this guy paint to upkeep tradition and maintain the condition of the only thing protecting diamond city.

The amount of quests in this game that feature the stupid "more caps" 3 times over scaling from 100-150-200 is absurd,I swear every side quest has this and it's actually dumb 😭. That's not even the only one in diamond city because I'm pretty sure one of the vendors in the market gives you a quest with the exact same dialogue choice of more caps, I hate how butchered the dialogue system is in fallout 4.
This is why I hate the Bethesda Fallout games. The entirety of the game and all of its lore is brushed away in favor of some quippy dumb reddit-tier dialogue like this; there's no genuine lore behind something as mundane like this. The older games would have probably said something like how the Old World US army used to fight with green uniforms and the town adopted those uniforms from a nearby armory and it has a history of watchers who defended the walls who wore armor clad in green, and to honor them, the citizens honored them by painting the wall green. Even if it's made up, it adds some sort of depth to the game's lore, and makes you think twice about the setting. Aside from a VERY small pool, every person you meet in Fallout 4 is either a complete and absolute incompetent moron, a raider, or a character devoid of any sort of personality and charisma. Sure, Fallout 2 and to a lesser extent, New Vegas, may have had one too many references to pop culture stuff, but nothing as dumb as this
