Love this channel. I´m about one year younger than The Guru, so our preferences are pretty similar. By the early 2000s I stupidly got rid of my cassette tapes, but just recently have started buying cassettes again on Discogs. Our generation bought lots of cassettes, since it was the cheapest format available back then, then we gradually progressed to CDs. Viva hair metal and long live nostalgia!
My favorite album cover is Dr Feelgood. I have my original blacklight poster in my music room. I still have CD long boxes on my bedroom wall at my parents house. I also have most of my metal shirts, cassettes and magazines from back in the day.
Awesome video and great insight!!! You never disappoint!! My favorite album cover is a toss between Def Leppard Hysteria and Metallica Justice. Was just getting into music at time they came out.
Love these videos ! I know you and Brian mentioned it in one of the videos, but top 10 choruses would be cool, could go by year or like top ten choruses that didn’t go number one or chart in the top ten …you get the idea. . Guru and the Basement are a hell of a duo !!
It’s Van Halen 1984 .. I never listened to it , but the Cannibal Corpse types always fascinated in the store as a 12 year old kid . Theatre of Pain was cool for such a bad record . Slaughter Stick It To Ya may have launched me into puberty ..
This is James Anthony another great video this was a great topic you guys are always great together my top 20 covers are 1. Kiss Love Gun 2. Poison Open Up And Say Ahh 3. Warrent Dog Eat Dog 4. It took so much restraint not to include thrash covers on here as well. But sticking with hard rock/hair metal (and based strictly on the cover): 1. Motley Crue - Theater Of Pain 2. Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction 3. W.A.S.P - The Crimson Idol 4. Def Leppard - Pyromania 5. Kiss - Creatures Of The Night 6. Winger - Winger 7. Dokken - Tooth & Nail 8. Quiet Riot - Condition Critical 9. Love/Hate - Blackout In The Red Room 10. Whitesnake - Slide It In
List posted before watching the episode - GnR "appetite for destruction" OG album cover (sleeze cartoon) - Danger Danger "Screw It!" (funniest cartoon). ""Slipped Her the Big One", the best song title ever ? - Skid Row S/T (coolest band photo) - McQueen Street S/T (for some reason I find the cover hot AF!)
Hey Ant. Off topic have you ever heard the band Bad City. As far as I know they only had the one album called welcome to the wasteland. I think it came out in 2010 but I dig that album and it definitely fits in my mind of the 80’s rock
Love the channel, keep up the awesome work and keep rocking! I feel like we have a lot in common here. I'm a teacher. I'm also a basketball coach. I'm 52. I live and breathe hair metal. I love a lot of the lesser known bands and lesser known albums. I LOVE hair metal ballads. Most of my favourite songs are ballads (Standing Alone by Tyketto, Over and Out by Britny Fox and True Love and Other Fairy Tales by Electric Angels three of my faves!) My opinion on this topic...Night Songs is the greatest cover of all time.
1. Hysteria 2. Appetite 3. Use your illusions 4. Open up and say ahh 5. Slave to the grind 6. Dr feelgood 7. Pump 8. Cocked and loaded 9. Dirty rotten filthy 10. Long cold winter
DL's Pyromania, GNR banned AFD cover, Roxy Blue's Want Some, BF's Bite Down Hard (Cool cover, killer album title), QR Metal Health, Ratt's first EP and Invasion, Tora Tora's Surprise Attack,... and I love SK's The Lizard too, but would see why folks wouldn't like it. I also liked Stryper's In God We Trust, but not a fan of the band. VH's 1984 is a killer cover, but not hair band most would say. Also, I would agree that Danger Danger changed their album name because of Skid Row. That makes too much sense not to be true. Also... as I watch. The album was always called AFD, but they just banned the album cover. Live Like A Suicide was their first EP released about a year before AFD, re-released as the first side of Lies... Lies was just thrown together, the first side being Live Like A Suicide and the second side being new material... Honorable Mention: DRFSR by Warrant.
Any Manowar cover!!!!, Armored Saint - Symbol of Salvation, Autograph, Badlands - Voodoo Highway, The Cult - Sonic Temple, Every Mothers Nightmare debut, Icon debut, Keel - Final Frontier, McQueen Street debut, Quiet Riot - Metal Health, Ratt - Invasion, Roxy Blue - Want Some?, Saigon Kick - The Lizard, Shotgun Messiah - first and second albums, Smashed Gladys - Social Intercourse, Tora Tora - Surprise Attack, Y&T - Ten.
Kiss -Destroyer, Kiss-Love Gun, Kiss-Rock and Roll Over, W.A.S.P-Last Command, Pretty Boy Floyd-Leather Boys, Warlock-Triumph &Agony, Judas Priest- Pain Killer. Ratt-Out of the Cellar
How did WASP’s debut or Headless Children not get mentioned? 1. WASP S/T 2. Skid Row S/T 3. AC/DC Flick of the Switch 4. White Lion Pride 5. Whitesnake Lovehunter
and simultaneously Michael Jackson was supposed to include a song titled “Monkey Business” on his “Dangerous” album in 1991… for some reason, there was a lot of Monkey Business going on in the music industry at that time…
My Top7: #DrFeelgood, #Appetite, #WickedSensation, #NewJersey, #TheScream, #SkidRow, then and LA Guns with their logo. HM to Aussies Candy Harlot's #FiveWikedWays.
Both Love/Hate album covers were paintings done by Skid (the bassist). Wasn't Lori Carr, from Stick it to ya album cover, married to Robbin Crosby for a few years? And Guru is wrong, the Wildside album cover is controversially epic!
I have got say for me Dokken’s under lock n key and those stupid outfits which might be funny to say its my favorite but ever time I think of glam thats the first thing comes to mind
Michael wagner on love/hate ? Yeah' 'not fakin it'' is cool. I must say I don't think rock covers are that good in general..they're often the last thing on ths list when the money has run out.slippery when wet is alright... I've always thought ' slave to the grind' was awful sorry !!!
Another great one Anthony. A best band font would be a good one too. Love this shit 🤘🏼

That new Guru logo will look killer on a tee and hoodie🔥🔥🔥. Great show.

I love album covers with good logos, are simple and cool colour scheme (not too many colours).
Night Songs’ album cover is a thing of BEAUTY. #1 for me forever. Bury me with that in my hands. 💜🤟🏽
Based

Slave Raider, gotta love it, Chainsaw Cane with the eye patch?
Yep, from Minnesota! I think he is now the manager for Hairball--I'm sure you know who that band is...
Can’t believe they didn’t mention that Tora Tora cover.

WASP Last Command! Solid cover. There are so many others that could've made the list, man. I appreciate you, Brother!
How did WASP’s debut or Headless Children not get mentioned?
1. WASP S/T
2. Skid Row S/T
3. AC/DC Flick of the Switch
4. White Lion Pride
5. Whitesnake Lovehunter
You like the pencil drawn Flick Of The Switch cover too? It’s also my favourite AC/DC album
and simultaneously Michael Jackson was supposed to include a song titled “Monkey Business” on his “Dangerous” album in 1991… for some reason, there was a lot of Monkey Business going on in the music industry at that time…
Anthony you should have some art where you and your dog look like PBF for your channel

Laurie … the chick on the Slaughter album cover is the ex wife of Robbin Crosby
🤘👍
Both Love/Hate album covers were paintings done by Skid (the bassist).
Wasn't Lori Carr, from Stick it to ya album cover, married to Robbin Crosby for a few years?
And Guru is wrong, the Wildside album cover is controversially epic!
You are correct in all three points!
🤘Pretty Boy Floyd 🤘
I have got say for me Dokken’s under lock n key and those stupid outfits which might be funny to say its my favorite but ever time I think of glam thats the first thing comes to mind
Lordi from Finland not Sweden 👍
