I got to say every time I do something to my truck I go right to 1A Auto. The parts are there and the videos are more than helpful. Thank you so much for putting these out here.

I watched only to find out what tools I’ll need. I didn’t want to get rust in my face five or six times before I figured it out😂 My 03 doesn’t have the shield though, easier for me than this video. Good video with good detail.
Wow. Much simpler than I thought. Thank you 1A auto guy
Just changed mine, yep a longer bolt would have been easier. To jacks and a buddy pushing the stap in got it done.
Thank you. Worked for my 2005 Chevy Silverado.
Looks like I be getting longer bolts this coming weekend. Great video guys.
+RFClark1 Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
Thanks or tanks, this was a big help. Apparently, that cover doesn't help since the 2003's don't have it and the straps still rust on the ones that do.
Same up to at least 08 Duramax Silverados... Was putting a lift pump in and I was going to have to drop the tank because the "quick disconnect" wasn't coming off spent 2 days trying to get it. Well the bolt on the back strap on the tank wouldn't come out because the nut bracket broke. So it just spins, I planned to take the bed off after that.. that was a no go after stripping the bed bolt. So cutting the bed of my $20,000 truck was the only way I had left..
Hi Nathan, did you end up getting the tank bolt off, and if so, how? Have the same problem. Thanks.
do you have a part number for longer bolts ?
what do you do when the bolt is stripped? I have a 2000 GMC sierra and the bolt just spins in place. Not much to cut off as the bolt is threaded into the frame and there is no nut
Thank you for watching. At this point it will l need to be drilled out then re-threaded using a Tap and Die. You just want to be careful drilling near a gas tank because of potential fumes coming from it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Much appreciated!
sadly my hardware mounting kit comes with the shorter bolts :(
theres a lot more 'massaging' to do to get a strap on.
great videos i will be very glad if you continue more like this
Great video. I followed your video to replace my gas tank strap, but unfortunately for me, the bolt was so rusted on that I ended up stripping it, and now I can't get it off. Of course this happens on a Friday, and too late in the day to have any of the local repair shops do it. Frustrating has Hell!
Mines stripped too. Haven’t been able to use my truck for almost a week it really sucks. Freezing my butt off trying to get the bolt out everyday
@@justjoshin5140 I drilled my bolt out today and then the nut ended up benign a clip I could go and replace. But I will be getting a longer bolt tomorrow. Super hard to get this tank back up there
What do you torque those fuel strap bolts down to?
Wish you could link where to find that bolt. Can’t start the job without one in hand...
I have a 03 GMC yukon denali xl are the bolts the same size in this video
Ok so my 2004 chevy avalanche underneath is horribly rusted. What do I need to so to be able to secure the strap. As of right now my gas tank os secured only with a strap in the middle
I can't get the new straps bolt started!!
I want more fuel range for my 2006 Suburban 1500 Will a a tank from a 2500 fit???
thanks for the help
+oldirtybradster No problem. Thank you for watching. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
The bolts on the tank straps for my 04 suburban spin 😭 guess ill have to drop the whole tank and try to cut them or something
I got a 03 Silverado the back strap broke and I can't get the bolt out and is there a nut there or what and how do I get it out
oi
nope it just screws into the frame or the metal bar thats there
if you want take a screw driver and or a pry bar and pray at the bolt while your unbolting it that will make the threads catch and come out easier
and use a gun or a drillgun which will be easier on the hands and then you put a new one in it might not go in easy so you have to get the treads in stright and after it goes in 3 to 4 threads just screw it in there and dont make it to tight or you will snap the bolt get it in there with the gun about half inch sticking out and then tighten res tof the way with your hands or a socket and ratchet if it doesnt go in put the gun on low and drive it in but dont snap it then you be screwed HAHAHA just so you know
most cars dont have a bolt up there it jjst screws into the frame or underfloors or metal bars
THE END

@@johnkay8778 same here!

It's all fun and games until the gas tank strap doesn't want to pull up into place all the way. I just did mine yesterday and it seems like I REALLY had to jack up the tank to get that strap in. But i got it though.
Except when your bolt is stripped and you’re spending every day of the week under the truck getting rust all over your face the entire time and freezing (getting close to freezing temp) and hurting your hands sometimes lol. This should be a super super easy thing to fix but noo it’s gotta be the biggest pain in the ass for me unfortunately
Gm, the original Rot Jalopy. Made with the worst grade of steel China could make.
I hell no it is not that easy come on
On my 03 silverado 2500 the slotted bracket the strap goes into pulled through... what do u do then? The bracket is ripped through
