    Excellent video - you give an accurate and succinct explanation and the demo of course, was useful too. Thank you!

    What types of paint are usually suitable for using with the electrostatic process? What types of paints are almost never suitable for electrostatic process? What types of paint are marginally acceptable for use with the electrostatic process?

    Ryan,
    We are painting elevator doors and frames with Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel and heads up and have you done thses before ? Also how would you ground the frames ?

    • @you2tooyou2too
      @you2tooyou2too 7 років тому

      Grounding is a relative mechanism. Every surface to be painted must, at least, be connected to the paint gun ground. Earth ground is not needed.

    Ryan, your website takes me directly to Amazon. I am trying to find some electrostatic equipment but am having some difficulty. Is there a system you recommend? Thanks

    Hi! Do electrostatic painting create craters???

  • @scottclifford4998

    Ryan, Good video but the explanation is slightly off. Electrostatic painting generally uses negative corona charge and a grounded part. Not positive charge with a negative part as you mentioned. The electrons or negative ions charge are transferred to the paint droplets and the negatively charged paint droplets are then attracted to the grounded part.

    Ransburg # 2 process gun is the true & best out there, I Have been using it for 38 years now , by the way you can not take this dudes gun into an office setting you would need to build a paint booth, M/W Electrostatic Painting ,inc. (Detroit area)

    Except for Ransburg, we found OTSON offers more satisfied performance at paint cost

    excuse me, can you explain the main point about how electrostatic painting works ?
    please reply

      I'm not qualified by any means to answer your question but for the time being I would say that the way electrostatic painting works is by negatively charging the metal by connecting it to a power outlet via a specific electrical cord I assume. Keep in mind that the paint was said to be positively charged so by negatively charging the metal a pulling attraction is made between the paint and metal causing them act similar to a negative and positive magnet adhering to one another. That would explain why even the posterior side of the metal square tube was coated with paint regardless of being sprayed directly with paint.

    I have been using the #2 gun for 21 years. Whatever this gun is, I wouldn't want to use it to paint 30 files in a day. Kinda uncomfortable looking. Also way more noise than the #2.

      I had a metal bed painted right in my bedroom. They didn't even move it and the paint wrapped around it all by itself. Also, no mess at all.

    • @1foxtrot70

      adamthestimator Don't know if that would work, sounds good. The other one would be to use invisible fence system on the kids to keep them in the yard which would probably work. The only problem with both of these potentially helpful parenting tools is, that, The Division of Family Services would take a dim view however. LOL ;)
