    hello sir, i would like to know whether it is mandatory for the nozzle to be in vertical position relative to workpiece instead of being inclined during spraying process? And if so, what is the reason behind it?

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  2 роки тому

      It is not mandatory. The application dictates the position of the nozzle relative to the part.

    what if the hanger jigs were already painted? is there something to do with grounding that the spray paint attract to operator?

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  Рік тому

      The painted hangers are not providing a good ground to the part, making the operator the closest grounded target. The paint needs to be removed from the hangers, so that there's good contact to the part.

    Hello sir, is it necessary to maintain vacuum during electrostatic coating process?

    • @GracoIndustrial

      We would like to answer your question, but would appreciate some clarification. Exactly what do you mean by "maintain vacuum"?

    Is it possible to use this kind of technology for wood? and is it possible to use it for solvent based varnish?

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. Wood is an excellent application for electrostatics, due to the moisture content in wood. We have electrostatic spray guns and systems for both solvent-based and waterborne materials. To identify what would work best for you, consult your local Graco finishing equipment distributor. Not sure who that is? Find out at www.graco.com/us/en/in-plant-manufacturing/how-to-buy/where-to-buy.html?wtb_code=ESG

    Electrons are negatively charged- they wouldn't be attracted to a ground- they would have to be positively charged in order to do that. How is a charge added to the paint?

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  9 місяців тому +1

      The electrostatic charge is added to the paint through a process called ionization. In an electrostatic spray gun, a high voltage is applied to the paint just before it's sprayed out. This high voltage causes the individual paint particles to gain or lose electrons, thus becoming negatively charged ions.
      The object that is being painted is grounded. This essentially means it is given a neutral charge. As the negatively charged paint particles leave the electrostatic spray gun, they are attracted to the grounded part.

    What kind of paints can be use?

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  Рік тому

      All kinds of paints can be used in electrostatic painting including waterborne paint. The key to successful electrostatic painting lies in the conductivity of the paint and proper grounding.
      For paint evaluation testing, please reach out to your local industrial equipment distributor. Not sure who that is? Find out at www.graco.com/us/en/in-plant-manufacturing/how-to-buy/where-to-buy.html?wtb_code=ESG

      This video is about using electrostatics to paint products in an industrial - not residential - setting. If you would like to speak with someone about using electrostatic technology in your factory paint booth, a good first step is to contact your local Graco finishing equipment distributor. hi.how about if i use rubber shoes and rubber or cotton glove.and how many ohm the value of grounding

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  5 років тому

      For your safety, be sure to wear leather soled shoes and avoid using gloves. If you must wear gloves, be sure your palm and trigger finder are cut out to create direct skin contact (proper grounding) with the gun, or there's a conductive strip on the palm of the glove.
      Before spraying in an electrostatic paint booth, be sure to test all areas with a mega ohmmeter. If each one displays a mega ohm reading of one or less, you're good to go.

    And where is someone supposed to buy leather Sole shoes. 🤔 I use your paint system 8 hours a day non-stop. By the end of the day my paint suit can stand up on its own from all the spray collecting on me.

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  3 роки тому

      Although we would not know the best place near you to get leather soled shoes, we do know that they can aid in providing grounding. It's also important that you have direct hand contact with the gun handle, and that the gun is properly grounded.
      We're also concerned about your suit standing up, stiff with paint, after spraying all day. Such paint wrap-back might be a sign of poorly grounded parts or the need to adjust your gun-to-part distance. To determine what the root cause of the problem is, please contact your Graco finishing equipment distributor or Graco account manager about conducting a paint line audit.

    And, why should all this be done? No physics is explained. As I see it, the paint is somehow being charged, so the part should be grounded, perhaps the gun too, so user could not be shocked, since electrons would have an easier path and won't go through person. Grounding the person would make that person vulnerable to a shock, I would think. If they don't explain why, people will always take the logical approach - which, in this case, Graco feels is the dangerous path for some unknown reason. Also, they need to show at what point the paint is being charged and how.

      If you paint with flammable paints you got flammable fumes around you. Constant movement of paint inside the hose creates static charge. If the static charge will get enough energy it can manifest itself as a 'spark'. The spark will ignite the fumes. To avoid this you have to be grounded and let the electrons freely move to the ground. This way they won't create charge with enough energy to create a 'spark'.

    • @GracoIndustrial
      @GracoIndustrial  5 років тому

      Proper grounding is important for the painter's safety and to make sure the most paint goes on the part, not the person. For more details, check out our safety article at www.graco.com/us/en/in-plant-manufacturing/solutions/articles/stay-grounded.html. For complete warnings and instructions related to Graco equipment, refer to our electrostatic gun instruction manual 3A249.
