I've definitely deejayed MODs from Amigas for decades. The WWWA Techno Jamms on KSPB Radio Stevenson in Pebble Beach, CA 91.9FM hosted by DJ Tetsuo Shima with me appearing as a guest on occasion (deejay grey) in the early 1990s involved lugging Tetsuo Shima's Amiga 2000 out of his car and up the stairs to the radio station. In more recent years, PT1210 (ProTracker 1210 from DJ h0ffman et al) as well as Mixxx facilitate pitch shifting MODs, similar to Technics SL-1200 turntables.
This tune catched already my attention in 1991 when it was running at a computer shop on the Amiga 3000 with a module player on the Workbench. It's one of the best music compositions and still great.
I just stumbled across this video and saw your Majesty symbol... there acutally was a song I used to listen to in soundtracker I really loved with tempo changes and heavy lead pitching and weird harmonies. When I listen to "A change of season" it always reminds me of that track (around 17:35). Such a shame I can't remember the title :-(
Those were the days my friend. I hoped they'd never end. Also amazing when you think about it how far these modules got without the internet. Nearly everybody who either owned an AMIGA or had friends who owned an AMIGA probably knows this gem.
@@kokoko3k Indeed, AmiNet was, for a time, the largest public file repository on The Internet. IMHO, the Amiga was the apogee of the personal computer, it's been all downhill with worse tech ever since.
I like these pre-2000 modules the older the better to me, than anything produced nowadays (I mean as compared to music modules created today). Back then they sounded like actual songs, verses just some noise with a beat.
Wow! This song is a year older than I am! I first heard this in about 1998 or 1999, in a self-published MS-DOS game from Spain. (It was heavily bit-crushed down to a mono pcm file.)
Others ripping off Amiga MODs was a thing for sure, one of the few "demos" for the atrociously inferior Acorn Archimedes (one of the first ARM based PCs) ripped off Laxity's MOD from Desert Dreams and effed up the vblank sync timing so it was totally off. Talk about disrespectful, yoinking others' tunes without attribution and then screwing up the playback. If we were on a better timeline, CBM Amigas would still be the bees knees instead of IBMPCs and ARM travesties.
Snowwie88 Yup - used to love doing that. Swapping bootleg games and the latest demos from darkest Central Europe! And Protracker tracks (something I loved doing).
Imagine being at a computer fair in 1992 having some bozo salesman showing you an insanely expensive 386 with a shitty AdLib while this is playing on an Amiga 500 in the next booth :P
i first heard this track on my old historical program polish "alderan historia polski" wow what a fantastic tune it is i said... havent changed since `1`
Same until I moved onto magix music maker and discovered Mixcraft 5 afterward so I got a cracked version then decided to buy the boxed version of Mixcraft 6 later on.
@fedm0r This is ProTracker 2.1a, just like it reads on the interface fine print ;) As for original resolution, i'm pretty sure it's 320x256 (for PAL systems at least).
It's a really legendary track, but at 1:23 I found some false notes. I am not sure, but I don't rememeber that something like this was in original composition.
If you happen to find a version on UA-cam that sounds more correct to you, i'm genuinely interested in hearing it. I have no idea if there's something wrong or not in this upload.
I shed a tear for the audiophiles that are too closed minded to ever be able to have the opportunity to find music like this. That's why I call myself an audio equipment enthusiast. I take audio quality very seriously, but I take having fun listening to music much more seriously than that.
lol what? I am an audiophile and enjoy keygen/amiga music very much so. Why would you say we don't like it? Being an audiophile just means we enjoy listening to whatever music we like through GOOD sounding headphones. And by good I mean top of the fucking line studio equipment because it's more or less lossless. You can enjoy something and still want it in high quality at the same time, those two concepts don't conflict with eachother.
@@lyoko111 please re-read my unedited comment. As you can see, I said "the audiophiles that are too closed minded". Let's talk about why you assumed that I assumed that all audiophiles are closed minded, since I did nothing to imply as such and ironically implied otherwise (I would have just said "audiophiles" if I was thinking the way you apparently think I was).
sxxxpert: Wrong, it's 320x256. Actually the GUI frame is 320x255, leaving the last scanline left. While 640x256 is the "high-res" workbench resolution, it's not the one used for ProTracker. ";)"
p1k4x Prob emulation. At work so can't compare to my real A1200 recording right now. Though if you are used to A500 sound, even A1200 can sound weird (too crisp)
Still love it and i grew up with an Amiga 500 using Kickstart v1.2 in 1988 ! The sound quality of this UA-cam video isn't quite right for the Trumpet voice. It is distorted in some higher frequencies. Use the real MOD an a real MOD Player. It will sound better.
Trumpet sounds better here ua-cam.com/video/W1bgMX4UCjw/v-deo.html. Dolby Headphone processed though. Even that one is old though and not from real hardware.
The good old times music ! I'm a old 68K coder on the Amiga Scene, this music is my life !
I wasn't even alive during this time, but I can feel all the nostalgia from the other comments. Amazing music.
I was born in the 2000s and find Tracker, Keygen, and other similar kinds of music really nostalgic as well
Greatest melody ever written
One of my favourite MODs ever. That was a good time in the early 90s. Awesome!!
I might go to discos if they played stuff like this.
They actually did.
@@szymonmatuszczak5321 When, and most importantly, where? If they still do, I wanna go there...

Pure talent. I love how this scene reflected the music zeitgeist of its time.
Amiga music was HEAVILY influenced by the New Wave scene. The influence lasted into PC modules that followed shortly after.
@@karmew32 This is acid house/techno/dance, not new wave. New wave was late 70s early 80s.
Das waren noch Zeiten. Geil. Ich hab von Anfang an alles mitgemacht. VGA-Copy heute noch ein prima Programm. Danke Thomas M. !
Amiga Sampler music is just pure talent.
This is an absolute classic right here.
Simply a masterpiece.
Who else finds the nostalgia of Amiga, ST, 64, Spectrum 48k and zx81 etc massively relieves anxiety?

I'm totally stuck in the past. Cool track!

This guy really knew how to make the Amiga sing. Thanks for the upload!
Still one of the greatest tunes to come out of the Amiga days. I remember when this dropped. Mindblowing!
Brings back memories. Lost this track a long time ago played it a lot of times in those great days
Remember this tune as it was yesterday!
Amazing MASTERPIECE. This will *pass* the test of time.. 👍👍👍

Amiga always amiga..
Not facebook, not cell phones.
Stuff like this one, were our "toys" back in the early 90's. And with them we spent the biggest times.
Not only that but we took our Amiga's to clubs, and friends, socializing at the same time. Great days.

Heh... back then it was something to be able to take a computer with you in a briefcase. now it's a normal thing.
I was looking for Elysium, you're a legend. Thanks for the upload!
Ohhh, so many memories

absolutely best mod ever.. had it in 1992
In the 90s I had had a music cassette with this track - OMG
Great tune by Jester of Sanity. has the same name as the demo. Elysium
This mod still rocks!!
This MOD is among my top 10. Very good music. I hear this in my car :)

Probably one of the best MOD files ever.
This brings back a lot of memories. Thank you.
Jester was the best genius in amiga music !
And Elysium is the best 4 channel mod ever if not the best mod ever !
I used to love protracker. I used it for a lot of my songs. I also used Bar & Pipes, it was awesome.
I just love this tune, my favourite
Amazing! This reminds me the 80s dutch act "Laserdance".
Same song was on the Atari STe too. But that's the joy of a mod file, it'll play on almost anything and it sounds the same :)
The Atari ST didn't had the Amiga Paula sound chip. How should that be possible?
Ютуб угадывает мысли! Хотел проверить колонку хорошим музоном, захожу, а тут ОНО! Это что то, ностальгия прёт))))
I love this song, Amiga rules
