Mayhem also had non-ppv passwords that allowed to access certain hidden things in the game (like the classic Nitro arena or give Rey Mysterio his mask back).
I knew about the nitro set, but not Rey's Mask. Why not just have another character like Wolfpac Sing? Also the Nitro set is exclusive to PS1 despite the code claiming it works on N64. 😂
I wanted to play Mayhem so bad when it first came out but one of my friends got the game before I could and he warned me to not even bother because it was bad. I took his advice and never played it until just a year or so ago. WCW Mayhem surprised me because it actually was kind of fun...for a few hours. I played through the championship mode once and made sure I saw everybody's entrances & finishers. Maybe spent 4-5 hours playing it before feeling like I'd seen all there was to see. WWF WrestleMania 2000 is almost objectively the better game. Idk what kind of person would put Mayhem above it but I wouldn't want to meet them in dark alley.
I can just imagine walking in a dark alley and seeing a bunch of rough looking gang members holding up copies of Mayhem asking if I represent or not. 😂 I agree with most of this. I think Mayhem is judged a little too hard, but it's not one of the greatest of all time.
Yeah I didn't really notice that tbh. But you're right, Mayhem's mat sounds are pretty good. Ahead of it's time honestly. I do also like the menu theme and Tony Schiavone screaming the whole time on commentary.
I think Backstage Assault is one of the few games with full development time to somehow be worse than the predecessor in everyway. How did the graphics get so bad?
Yo, Bean O Mac! GMSpectre had made a WCW Saturday Mod out of WM 2K! Check it out. 2025 has marked the 30th Anniversary of the Monday Night War, What is your favorite moment Monday Night War?
I've dabbled with it on this channel. I actually plan to review it at the end of the month. I have some matches already on the channel from that game in my Saturday Slam Fest playlists. Has it really been 30 years? I feel old and I'm only 25. 😂 It's tough to say, 1998 had a lot of stand out moments. Stone Cold treating to shoot Vince McMahon on live TV was probably my favorite segment. My favorite match would be The Rock vs HHH at Backlash 2000. I know the war was practically over at that point, but I'm still going with it. What was your favorite moment and match?
Mayhem was a big let down coming off of revenge. With that said I still played mayhem a lot because back then you got the game you got and that was it 😅
I loved Warzone and Attitude as well. I'm assuming you were a PlayStation kid from the sound of your games. I remember being jealous of the WWE 2K games on PS4, then I played one and didn't feel so bad. 🤣
@ I had the 64 and I started with world tour. I just wasn’t the kid that got the games he wanted so I had to enjoy what I got. I got attitude on 64 and I remember my friend gave me revenge. So at least I had revenge 😂 I got the ps1 later on and had smackdown 2. And the 2k games are very hit or miss. I do like the features and large amount of match variety. I just hate that they strongly focus on single player modes instead of multiplayer. For me the most fun will always be playing with your friends, not playing against AI.. and the online is dog sh*t 😂
I don't like those 2k games but I do feel for the developers. I think the state of the games would be the same even if THQ were still on board. Releasing legendary annual games just isn't realistic anymore. Let alone ones that are buggy messes. They have so many masters to please and decades of great wrestling games to compete against. The community creations is the best creation option ever. I'm not a fan of the realistic match style, but it definitely sounds like a lot of people don't want to return to a previous style. Graphics are usually great. Unfortunately single player content is what most companies focus on nowadays. I'll be honest though, single player is usually why I pick up a game.
How WCW Mayhem sold that well is beyond me
Wrestling games in general were just hot at that point. Anything WCW or WWF at that time would sell pretty good. Especially on PlayStation.
Mayhem also had non-ppv passwords that allowed to access certain hidden things in the game (like the classic Nitro arena or give Rey Mysterio his mask back).

WRESTLEMANIA 2000 IS WAY BETTER THAN THAT GAME HANDS ON!!!!

THEY NEED TO REMAKE WRESTLEMANIA 2000 N64
Gameplay will definitely be wrestlemaina 2000, but the sound effects (most notably the ring slams) on Mayhem are far superior
Yeah I didn't really notice that tbh. But you're right, Mayhem's mat sounds are pretty good. Ahead of it's time honestly. I do also like the menu theme and Tony Schiavone screaming the whole time on commentary.
WCW Mayhem was alright. Better than Backstage Assault.

@beanomac3126 probably lazy effort
In all fairness, it seems like no one was putting in any effort into WCW in 2000. 😂
@@beanomac3126 very true.
Hold up...the WM2000 custom character is a reference to Conkers Bad Fur Day cheats
Yeah it is! 🤣 I have a bunch of those in my videos. I don't know what else to put.
16:00 WTF is that abomination of TV title?! Was it that hard to restore the real thing in the game?
you can create women in wrestlemania 2000
Just preset templates. I don't consider changing Terri Runnels' dress color or Stephanie McMahon's shirt and shoes creating a new wrestler.

There's a lot of games I loved that others hated likely because I had to enjoy it due to not being able to get games often.
@ same !! I remember having to settle for attitude instead of wm 2000.. I was bummed out but you best believe I played the heck out of attitude lol

WM 2000 !!!
Needs more Ralphus
A tragedy really.
The AKI games were peerless in this game generation. Mayhem and the truly awful Acclaim games were trash in comparison.
I'm an AKI guy through and through. But I was always fan of those WWF Acclaim games. But I understand why folks weren't into them.
