Also, I want to say that i think is funny how Bart Ehrman is used almost by everyone to backup their views: Christians, Muslims, atheist and whatever this guy believes. lol
I find it absolutely remarkable that any of these guys get any traction on UA-cam. It's just sitting in front of a camera and spewing whatever they have decided is true or saw in other unsubstantiated UA-cam videos. No references, no actual research, just saying things to a camera. Then, their followers act like somehow this is some kind of well researched source and pretend that because it's on a video on UA-cam, it's definitely true. Contrast that with what Erik does on his channel. Well informed and thoroughly crafted arguments with sources and citations and references throughout. This is what it takes to attack the faith; if you are relying on historical and scriptural facts, you can't get very far. "Jesus said he is not God (Luke 18:19)". -A Muslim argument which takes the passage out of context. He didn't even get the context of Bart Erhman right. It is clear that he is taking a bunch of arguments he's heard from here, there, and yonder against Christianity, did no research into the context that was ignored by promoters of that argument, and then just put them all together. If somebody's video is built up of arguments taken out of context, then it's not a good case for what they're arguing. It's getting to the point that the bad arguments made by atheists and Muslims (and even sometimes Jews) make the truth of Christianity all the more apparent.

I'm writing a book on this very subject called, "IS JESUS CHRIST REALLY THE EVERLASTING GOD OF THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS?" In witnessing to followers of many cults and denominations over 35 years, God has given me ample opportunity to exposit all of the Scriptures I knew of (approximately 40-50) that clearly denote or allude to the Deity of Christ. How nice it would have been, i always thought, if I'd been able to just pull out a handy reference guide listing EVERY place in the Bible that spells out who Jesus is. But since I don't live in an ideal world, I had to settle for what I had. I had just finished producing a church bulletin-sized booklet for Muslims showing all of the verses that say He is the Son of God. "Is Jesus Christ REALLY the Son of God?" was the name of it. Curiously, a Christian lady at the copy store where I was running the booklet off viewed the title with some suspicion. By the look on her face, I could tell she thought it was a book that contradicted the Bible. I quickly assured her that it wasn't. But I realized in that moment that the title was just provocative enough to wet someone's curiosity into picking it up and reading it. Then, I decided to take it a step further by indexing and commenting on every verse I could find that teaches Jesus is God. However, I had no idea what I was in for. The sheer volume of biblical evidence would turn this into a MASSIVE undertaking! My Table of Contents was turning into a sizeable, "chapter-like" section all by itself, as I began listing out all of the names, titles, attributes and works of God that the Bible applies DIRECTLY to the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm still not quite sure if I want to stick to my original idea of indexing and commentary because that will invariably push publication of this work way beyond any foreseeable date. Perhaps i should just keep it simple and publish the book as a handy - though comprehensive and exhaustive - reference guide. I'm still praying 🙏 about that. Your thoughts and prayers are welcome. God bless you.
Your point about the distinction between Jesus and Christians as being different types of son is one reason I prefer the translation of John 3:16 which uses the term Begotten. C. S. Lewis expresses a similar argument and makes the point the Begotten re-inforces this point of view where as translations that render the passage as 'one-and-only' muddy the waters (so-to-speak).
Always enjoy your videos Testify, I had a suggestion for a video too. Could you maybe talk about the did David really kill Goliath topic? Because I heard that the original hebrew says that someone named Elhanan killed Goliath, but later additions said he killed the brother of goliath and maybe the story was given to David because he was king. I'm under the impression it was a scribal error in samuel that attributes it to Elhanan, but I'd love to hear your take on it.
These guys always leave out the fact that Paul’s writings are the earliest Christian documents we have, and Jesus is very explicitly God according to Paul, (Romans 9:5, Philippians 2:6, 2 Cor. 4:4-6, etc) even if we restrict ourselves to the epistles that are undisputedly Paul’s.
They also don't point out that Paul is writing to the Romans, Philippians, Corinthians, etc. to CORRECT them on doctrine, i.e. prevent heresies. Also, you see in Revelations that there are already some heresies in the early Christian community. Revelations 2: 6 "You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate." Revelations 2: 14-16 "Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth." Revelations 2:20 "Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols." So, even in the early church (maybe around AD 70) we have 2-3 heresies already: Nicolaitans, followers of Balaam and followers of Jezebel.
Great work keeping your cool. I had to pause a lot to avoid talking back to the monitor. This sounds to me like he took the argument Ian McKellen makes in Davinci code and tried to pass it off as history. It's hard when you have to deal with these same recycled arguments about the gnostics and marcion again and again. Constantine being the bogeyman is hilarious too. All of this reeks of unskilled scholarship at best. You know it's going to be rough when they present an argument like it's the biggest conspiracy ever but it's all a bunch of warmed over heresies that the church put to rest centuries ago.

It was very helpful and very informative I appreciate all the effort that you put into this. 😁👍🏼 I would really love to see you do another review of one of his videos, claiming that God is the devil in the Bible. I wouldn’t say I am a new Christian, but I am new to learning and understanding and getting in depth Roots in the word of God. so this is greatly appreciated 😊
I thought that I would also mention at minute 7:00 that he made it out to be that Gnosticism and Marcionism were big issues for orthodoxy, however by the time he gets to Constantine the issue is Arianism which is basically still around in some small heretical churches like Oneness Pentecostals. They believe in the Scriptures in a way that is entirely opposite the early wild heresies that the arheist guy was talking about and supposed book burnings. In a lot of ways they are like Christians but misunderstand the Scriptures that we agree on. Also, I am not really sure if it was explained how believing that Jesus is God could actually help Constantine be a better authoritarian or whatnot. Almost like it is a non sequitur.
No matter how many times these points get answered, internet atheists seem to think that presenting them again with a slightly different historical spin will get them this time.
Interesting how those that don't believe God exists and the entire Bible a myth will use texts from Gnostic religion and select Bible verses to 'prove' Jesus was not God but was sent here by God (whom they claim does not exist)

Also, the same words "I am" Jesus also said when he walked on the water and said "Be not afraid, I am". Some translations say "it is I", but the same Greek expression is used for "I am".
There was no orthodoxy? Let's ask Jesus... So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 ESV Hmmm... sounds like... orthodoxy to me...

Not that the diety of Christ requires in depth study. The moniker "Son if God" is also a clear case, as his human nature came from Mary, but His God nature came from God. Fully God, fully man.
Once you know that Jesus, the Bible and Christianity are true, any arguments against it appear so obviously weak and ridiculous, like Morgue's objections show. I really enjoy your content, Erik. Keep it up!
Wrote my thesis essentially on how cracked gnosticism was. Using it as a rational way to explain anything about historical Christianity is like using a Spider-Man comic to explain arachnid reproduction.
Hey Erik. I have heard from scholars such as A.W. Zwiep that the early Christians thought Jesus' resurrection and ascension happened on the same day based off of passages like Eph. 1:20, Phil. 2:8-9, and Heb. 10:12. What do we make of this?
So having just looked at those passages in passing uou would have to make an argument from silence that the implications is immediate, as there are no temporal indications and you have to ignore the gospels which talk about a significant time gap
Sheesh. The entire Gospel of John is a theological treatise on the divinity of Jesus, written against the Gnostics. It should also be noted that most of the New Testament writers, being Jewish in their worldview, use "God" to mean the Father. They're simply using familiar terminology.
“Of my own self I can do nothin …” (John 5:30) “The words I say to you I speak not on my own authority …” (John 14:10) Do these sound like the words of an omnipotent being? Or more like the words of a human being empowered by the omnipotent God? Of course, that is what the term Messiah means: one who is “anointed” (empowered) by God. John’s thesis is given explicitly at the end of the book: “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Messiah (anointed) the Son of God” (John 20:30-31)
@@TestifyApologetics I don’t deny the Trinitarian proof texts, I just think that the 1% that they quote should align with the 99% that they ignore. You should try reading the Bible from a Unitarian perspective. You will find that it is far more coherent. By the way, I do appreciate your channel
@@Mikha335 Did you actually listen to the video? In the Trinity there's a hierarchy. The Father's will is done on Earth and in Heaven; the Word carries out the Father's will on Earth, creating and redeeming; the Spirit creates order from disorder and gives life and words to men. We call the Word "the Son" because like an earthly son He is "of the same stuff" as His Father, but is obedient to Him. Jesus makes it quite clear throughout the Gospels that 1) He is carrying out the Father's will and 2) The Father has given Him all authority (see Daniel 7:13-14).
So dude thinks that Constantine wanted to use an oft-persecuted but supposedly very divided religion as some uniting force over Pagan tribed who would instantly take to Monotheism and also be cool with taking orders from God as opposed to the Emperor... who had been traditionally deified in the past and it would be far more effective to simply have weaponized that pre-existing system? Makes sense so far.
Concerning the alleged allusions to it, there's none in scrupture. While it speaks of God the father, the son of god and the Holy Spirit, one cannot argue that it the trinity. That teaching explicitly says that each person is either God the father, which is scriptural. God the son or the erternal son both are not in scripture, nor is God the Holy Spirit. Which the trinity claims must be worshipped as distinct persons. The scripture nowhere mentions that regardsless of your words as to it's veracity. Most scholars agree it is not found there, James White agrees to that as does a host of others which I could mention. Still, simply looking in any Encyclopedia spells that the trinity is not scriptural. The scriptures conclude by 100 AD with John's death and writings, while the trinity was not mentioned by Jesus, the apostles or the prophets but by Tertullian in 200 AD. Origen and other Greeks used platonic thought which became the normative to describe by later apologists. The trinity was not until the late 4th century. The three Cappodicians created it by these words in 381. "In thinking upon the the trinity we came upon the trinity." Again, it is a paper tiger. Nobody can claim it is scriptural, as it never found there. Titles abound of God. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Is talking about three or more gods? No, in fact about God who will becone a son yet be the almight and everlasting father, and holy spirit or comforter. The fact is that God himself calls himself the the Holy One over 30 times is enough evidence to condemn the Catholic trinity heresy. Nobody can fully understand it yet must believe it. According to orthodox Trinitarian doctrine, if a person claims to be a Christian but does not believe in the Trinity, he is not saved. Is that the truth? No. Wevare created in God's image in Genesis. Are you three people in unity? No. I'm a father, son and a spirit, but I'm not three people. To say otherwise to to lie. So the trinity is a lie as Paul calls later teachings not in the gospel cursed in Gal. 1:6-12. It is an add on warned against by Jesus in Rev. 22:18-19. It the tare doctrine that came after the truth or wheat teaching of the scriptures. One cannot be three persons and yet call himself one person. In fact, it is not scripture but platonic thought. It is a lie that will send you to hell in Matthew 7:21-23.

Would there be much point? His other videos about his own beliefs are so nuts, that if anyone put any credence in them, then they're hardly likely to listen to sense. Morgue completely ignores and conveniently leaves out the fact that Constantine was actually not satisfied with the council of Nicaea, and that Eusebius of Caesarea was explicitly against the exile of Arias, despite himself being a Trinitarian, and Eusebius of Nicomedia, convince Constantine to bring Arias back, but he died before he can be brought back, he’s also ignoring the fact that Aryans not that long after the council of Nicaea became incredibly an dominant force, for almost 50 years, and many orthodox bishops including Athanasius we’re exiled multiple times.
First he said that it didn’t say in the Bible that Jesus is God, then he says they burned all the books that disagreed with the Bible saying Jesus was God 😂 He admits at 0:52 that it’s described in the scriptures that He is God, yet before that, at the beginning, he said that it doesn’t say Jesus is God

Jesus is coming back soon! It’s vital to trust in Jesus even when we are going through a challenging situations. Jesus I trust in you even as I struggle providing groceries for my children. Jesus hear my prayers. I’m so weary. I feel like a failure. Since covid I fell on a terrible hardship. I lost my job for declining the vaccine. I declined due to my pre existing health conditions. I suffer from lupus, and heart disease. I’m a single mom, my husband is with God. My children are autistic. I’m overwhelmed because I’m struggling to provide for my children. I recently started homeschooling them because they were having so many issues in school including bullying. Their behavior is unpredictable, so it’s easier not to expose them to certain situations. That’s why homeschooling is working out great. I’m now waitressing and I’m so thankful but not making nearly enough. Jesus hear my prayers. Every month is a struggle not to end up on the streets with my boys. Every month I have a hard time coming up with rent. The devil wants me to give up but God won’t allow it. Hey testify, great video! I really enjoy your apologetics content. I have a question about something in the gospels that has troubled me and my faith over the past few days. That is the part of the gospels where Pilate asks the crowd of Jews, based on popular demand, whether to release Jesus or Barbaas. However, many people claim that there was no such practice employed by the Roman empire, and that pontious Pilate wouldnt have cared what the jews had to say and enjoyed crucifying them. his has really troubled me, and I'd appreciate your input on this.

Thank you for the information on the books to add to my bookshelf for my children to be able to read.
If you just regurgitate the same old generalizations and lies that are in the zeitgeist, easy peasy.
Well done once again, Erik. This guy is a clown.
So morgues actually said Jesus said to the young Ruler that nobody is good but God, then in the same breath he went and interpreted “I and the father are 1” as All of Us are God? Lol 😂 how man just how?
You don’t have to go there big man💀Jesus quite literally calls himself “The Good Shepard”, which is also a literal allusion to His divinity(“The Lord is my Shepherd” in Psalms).
It took me a while to figure out what was different about you . . . in conclusion: better lighting.
When talking about the aftermath of the Council of Nicea, Morgue conveniently left out that Athanasius was banished five times.
"All peace-makers are called sons of God (Matthew 5:9)" -Argument takes passage out of context.
"The Old Testament says God is not man (Numbers 23:19)" -A Jewish argument which is inconsistent with scripture.
Yet another great video Testify.
When they start about the council of Nicaea, I KNOW they’re clueless 🙄
God only makes decisions that ultimately produce the most good. He doesn't always like what those decisions have to be. The flood is one of those decisions that was necessary but unwanted.
18:50 id also like to point out that jesus calls himself "the good shepard" so if jesus says "only god is good" and he calls himself the good shepard, he is outright calling himself god
Jesus quoting Psalm 82 to the Pharisees is a slam against them because that would psalm expressly denounces gods as sinful, judging selfishly and unjustly. He is elevating Himself simultaneously as He calls the Pharisees out as corrupt.
John 20:27-29 really well explains who Jesus is. He blessed those who believe in him, specifically that he is God’s eternal Son making him God
I'm writing a book on this very subject called, "IS JESUS CHRIST REALLY THE EVERLASTING GOD OF THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS?"
In witnessing to followers of many cults and denominations over 35 years, God has given me ample opportunity to exposit all of the Scriptures I knew of (approximately 40-50) that clearly denote or allude to the Deity of Christ.
Sounds pretty interesting. Great idea for a book project.
Well done, keep it going. May God use this endeavour to sow seeds towards the salvation of others. Please don't be discouraged.
This is fantastic
Your point about the distinction between Jesus and Christians as being different types of son is one reason I prefer the translation of John 3:16 which uses the term Begotten. C. S. Lewis expresses a similar argument and makes the point the Begotten re-inforces this point of view where as translations that render the passage as 'one-and-only' muddy the waters (so-to-speak).
We'll explained
Always enjoy your videos Testify, I had a suggestion for a video too. Could you maybe talk about the did David really kill Goliath topic? Because I heard that the original hebrew says that someone named Elhanan killed Goliath, but later additions said he killed the brother of goliath and maybe the story was given to David because he was king. I'm under the impression it was a scribal error in samuel that attributes it to Elhanan, but I'd love to hear your take on it.
5:00 Morgue doesn't _just a little bit_ remind of Jack Chick, The Death Cookie?
These guys always leave out the fact that Paul’s writings are the earliest Christian documents we have, and Jesus is very explicitly God according to Paul, (Romans 9:5, Philippians 2:6, 2 Cor. 4:4-6, etc) even if we restrict ourselves to the epistles that are undisputedly Paul’s.
They also don't point out that Paul is writing to the Romans, Philippians, Corinthians, etc. to CORRECT them on doctrine, i.e. prevent heresies. Also, you see in Revelations that there are already some heresies in the early Christian community.
Revelations 2: 6 "You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."
Revelations 2: 14-16 "Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."
Revelations 2:20 "Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols."
So, even in the early church (maybe around AD 70) we have 2-3 heresies already: Nicolaitans, followers of Balaam and followers of Jezebel.
What in the Wide World of Gnosticism is going on here?

Yes, so divided was the church that Arius’ heresy was outvoted by like 300 to 3 (Arius and his 2 followers). How did the church survive such division?
Jesus is risen!
I can't wait to start this video. I have been binge watching Morgue's stuff because his level of stupidity is just fascinating, entertaining and hilarious to watch, but I couldn't help but wonder why no one was refuting him when he's so easy to refute.

Also, the same words "I am" Jesus also said when he walked on the water and said "Be not afraid, I am". Some translations say "it is I", but the same Greek expression is used for "I am".
There’s a difference between saying “I am” in starting off an answer to a question, and “I Am,” in a simple statement by itself.

Lol. Who is this guy? Jesus clearly is God. There is a difference in reading through and studying the Word. This fella may have hit the hot spots, but I can bet he has never done any in depth study.

Keep it up!
Only non Christians believe this shady dude.
Holy Saint Constantine, Pray for us!
Sheesh. The entire Gospel of John is a theological treatise on the divinity of Jesus, written against the Gnostics.
It should also be noted that most of the New Testament writers, being Jewish in their worldview, use "God" to mean the Father. They're simply using familiar terminology.
“Of my own self I can do nothin …” (John 5:30)
“The words I say to you I speak not on my own authority …” (John 14:10)
Do these sound like the words of an omnipotent being? Or more like the words of a human being empowered by the omnipotent God?
Of course, that is what the term Messiah means: one who is “anointed” (empowered) by God.
John’s thesis is given explicitly at the end of the book:
“And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Messiah (anointed) the Son of God” (John 20:30-31)
I really hate unitarian cherry picking.

@@Mikha335 This is one of the most honest comments I have seen with regards to this topic in these comment sections.
Makes sense so far.
yes
The book of Zechariah chapters 12 & 13 alone debunks any opposition to “Jesus isn’t God” arguments.
