- Saints rumors dive into a way too early 2025 NFL Mock Draft which has the Saints drafting Quinn Ewers the Texas Longhorns Quarterback. Saints news & rumors would take a wild spin with a group including Derek Carr, Jake Haener, Spencer Rattler & Ewers. Matt Miller (ESPN) On Saints Drafting Quinn Ewers (No. 10)
The 2024 season will be crucial for the future of starting quarterback Derek Carr in New Orleans and perhaps provide a window into what the team has in rookie fifth-rounder Spencer Rattler. At this time, it doesn’t appear that either quarterback is the future here. Ewers has talent worthy of a first-overall pick heading into his third season as a starter at Texas. At 21 years old, he has to cut down on poor decisions during games, but his accuracy, mobility and arm strength are that of a future NFL starter. Ewers threw for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdown passes last season.

The New Orleans Saints had lapses with their pass protection for Derek Carr last year. While there are other areas to address like wide receiver and edge rusher, it’s hard for the Saints to pass on a former division rival and Super Bowl champ in Smith.

Drafting a QB every year is the type of nonsense fantasy football players and madden fans would say. It's beyond stupid.
Neither Haener nor Rattler will ever be Week 1 starters in the NFL, barring an injury to the actual starter. Rattler is likely not in the league by 2026, if not sooner.
The Cowboys are going to go all in get Ewers and give up assets to move up to get him. The Saints MIGHT do the same thing the next year to get Manning, but they will be fighting with the Colts trying to get Manning because by then the Colts will have to come to terms with the fact that AR is trash.
