Great video! I have done this, as well. It’s really good when you find the higher end name brands, too. I think it’s a great way to make a little extra, and I sell kids clothes, shoes, and toys, so I usually buy things to sell, too.
I used to work at a OUAC. All of the stores are independent, but it is a franchise, so they have the same basic policies. Just a few tips- The store I worked at preferred all the clothes be in totes lying flat. We could look through it more quickly than unfolding each piece. We were also much more selective on infant sizes- especially separate pieces. If they were basic pieces, we would take them if they were in great shape. (Mainly solid colored pants, jeans, etc.)
Cathy, you are correct. It all depends on who goes through your stuff. Definitely take things back again later, because they will likely take it. As far as inventory, our manager would tell us pretty much daily which sizes we needed, and which ones to be super selective on.
When we were entering a buy, we basically put in the item category, name brand, and it would give us the choice between two or three prices, then we decided the price based on condition and demand. The computer generates the amount the customer is paid for the item automatically, and it’s a percentage of what the store priced the item for.

Our Once Upon a Child is exactly the same there is only one location for all of Northeastern Wisconsin….manager is a snot…I think she bases her buys on your vehicle. Not driving a Range Rover…go away. She can be super selective they have a monopoly in our area. I envy this area and Minnesota for the number of Buy Sell Trade stores

@@retrobydestiny1030 This has happened to me before too, and I finally figured out the rude girl doesn't work on Sundays. I think she was rude because I'm in my forties and clearly not cool enough to be there. The Sunday crew is lovely though and buys many of the items the cool girl passed on :)
@@retrobydestiny1030 my Plato’s looks at tag dates so if an item has a manufacturer date on it just cut that small tag out. It’s very helpful especially with Nike

It totally varies by worker for me. But I did learn that they don't take white for smaller kids. Even if it's new/like new.
My tip for little dresses without the diaper cover: I've had success with including a same/ similar sized one that matches. I'll cut that tag out if needed. :)
Your Once Upon A Child pays a lot better than mine. I still take items because I really like the fast flip with cash in hand but I usually only about 1.5-2x my investment instead of the 3x you are getting. If I had taken that box to my location I probably would’ve been offered around $50-65 max
I think the shoes and snow gear are what really drives up the buy price when it go in! Our store also prices things kinda high which I guess works out in my favor!

I would if they had a size. Without a size it would just take to much time (extra measurements and explanation) for me to list for that price unfortunately 😔
How do you document this for your inventory? I have a tote ready to go of kids stuff, some personal items and others I've picked up from the bins. If I do this again, I'm wondering the most efficient way to document the inventory. I can't imagine writing every piece down that you pick up at the bins and then bring to UOAC is the most efficient? Doesn't feel that way! I'm sure I'm overthinking it.
We have a bookkeeper now & I believe we just do the cash method so we don’t document each & every item I just deposit the cash and they count it as a they would items sold on the platforms.
Cathy, have you ever tried to take in a single piece of Hanna Andersson PJs (like you might have the top but not the bottom) to OUAC? If so, did they accept it?
I have not tried this cause I’m like 99% sure they won’t and I really aim to get them to take all of my stuff 😂
I’ve done this before with NWT Hanna Andersson PJ tops and they always pass on it. They’ll tell me at the end some of the items were rejected because the set wasn’t complete.
Hi sorry off topic but how are you able store your inventory in a storage unit? I would only spend an hour a day at most to grab items for shipping but the facility considered it loitering so I had to get my stuff out. Any tips appreciated

So sorry that happened to you! 😮What city was your unit in? That seems odd bc there are tons of us that use a storage unit without an issue (on YT, Josh Graff is an example - he has TWO units in the same facility). That one you were in was a “busy body”, controlling storage facility IMO. Might want to try a diff one if there’s more in your area.
