I'm 33 now & alot has changed. hell I was shocked at how affordable car audio gear is now. I was trying to get help & do everything the right way but all the local car audio shops in my area were complete a** holes to me & snobby af! Currently I have 2 skar evl 12s on a 2k amp, 350 amp h/o alternator, Northstar AGM 65 battery, NVX true ofc BIG3 kit, 1/0 ga ofc power & ground, ofc speaker wire. Wanted to get the Skar DNR 15 but it's been out of stock for months. I finally found a guy with a shop in the town next to me whose custom building my enclosure & then I'm going bigger & better. I must say it was very relieving to find a fellow basshead that was humble & willing to assist me.
The thing is with that set up just like in my case if he goes back to 2 ohms which is his only other wiring option it's going to sound horrible compared to a quarter ohm there's No return after hearing a 1/4ohm.

I've been looking at buying one but I want to get one that's known for being reliable & consistent, but I'm not looking to spend a lot of $$ on one at this moment because I've been spending so much on h/o alts, Amos, subs, lumber, cable, lugs etc etc. If you see my comment I'd appreciate your input. Also I'll mention I've honestly never really had to use a multimeter for anything so I'm not real familiar with all the different uses, functions & modes they have... So if there is a more user friendly model or if they have detailed instructions that clearly tell how to use them that would probably be ideal for me. I've looked at a bunch and they have so many different things, symbols I'm unfamiliar with all around the dial. I'm probably just over complicating things in my mind, I tend to do that often.
Love this setup! If I get 1,000 subscribers and I have high box rise I'll change the way I wire my subs. Ill wire my 2 amps down to .25 per amp .50 bridged. I'll also get a meter!!!! Now about this build THIS BUILD IS EXSTREAMLY GOOD FOR A NO WALL LOVE IT WILL!!!!!🎆🎆🎆
Hey Jacob I wasn’t sure how to contact you but I have a question. I have 2 SKv2 2500.1 on 80ah yinlong with Mechman 270. I just bought 2 Sundown Zv5 15s D1 I have them wired to 1ohm an amps are strapped. I had Down4Sounds design my enclosure to spec an soon as I started turning the gain up the coil came unwound within 1-2mins. The clip light flashed an threw amp in protection mode. Do u think I over powered the sub or it’s a defect.
My original crossfire xs spl 15’s with 400 oz magnets have shiny voice coils and have been beat on since they where built a very long time ago original coil and soft parts
Today I will be getting my truck back the system consist of a salt 4k on 2 sundown audio x 12s and for highs it’s 6 deaf bonce 6.5s on a 201.4 and 4 t25 tweets on a machete 80.4 and for electrical it’s a singer 270 and a cyber 6k..My question is I have never heard sundown in person and do there subs have to be broken in or is it a myth ? Anyone please
That is true. Go easy on them for a week and make sure they hit a range of frequencies so the cones loosen up and break in properly. Very nice system by the way. Have you done the big 3/4 with 0 gage?
It's not necessary a myth subs that are built a little on the stiffer side take a little bit of time to make the spider more compliant /loosen up a bit so it will then play louder and lower as said above dont really go full tilt for a week or so it's not required but recomended

Subs shouldn’t blow immediately after their new even with torcher but it is possible you clipped them to death but idk the whole situation.
