    Rotterdam gets my vote every time. I visit at least once a year from home in England and it feels like my 'second home'. Really love it there and can't wait to go back!

    I'm always amazed that they show all this trendy expensive stuff in Rotterdam. There is a grittiness to Rotterdam that this video doesn't (or refuses) to show. The grittiness is the thing that gives Rotterdam the working town feel it has. Having said that, I can say that Rotterdam is one of the safest towns I have ever lived in. It's hard to leave Rotterdam, and if you ever do, you will always want to go back. However, to travel around Rotterdam the way they show in this video, will run you $1000 a day.

    Lived there for a half a year, lovely city. They missed a few good spots in this clip, but it is highly recommended as a tourist to go there.

    Rotterdam is a very underrated city, there are many other interesting spots not shown in this clip. Like historic Delfshaven, De Rotterdam ship, Scheepvaartskwartier, and I can go on. As for immigrants, a modern city with great prospects for the future and immigrant fobia do not go together. The immigrants in Rotterdam are more mixed throughout the city. Whereas in most, if not all cities in Europe they are concentrated in certain areas (segregation), that is why you see riots in Paris and London. Even in Amsterdam there are concentrated areas of immigrants outside the city centre, though Amsterdam has a higher percentage of immigrants than Rotterdam. That is what I like about Rotterdam it is an interracial mixing between those from abroad and the Dutch all across the city. You can see that clearly sitting at a terrace on nice warm sunny day. If you can not stand seen people who are different than you are, then don't come! Maybe Rotterdam is city too busy to hate! Makes it thus the more appealing.

      Are you kidding me? you came here and you have not explored around? If your sense of fun is overcrowded venues with tourists seeking to get high and drunk, trashing the place and scoring for a hooker, then go to Amsterdam. Rotterdam is an introverted city, you can go out at any night if you know where the parties are. It is not like Amsterdam in your face and easy touristy. If you like a challenge, you can have a good time in Rotterdam any time of the week. There is always something to do at Witte de Withstraat, there is the Stadhuisplein, there is the Meent, there is de Oude Haven, there is the Kop van Zuid, there is the Hofbogen, there is the Nieuwe Binnenweg, there is the Deliplein on Katendrecht. Boy you better explore, or take the Rotterdam Uitgaan magazine issued once a month freely obtainable on the streets, that shows everybody where to go every night, that will help you.

    Hi! How are You? Ah! The Beautiful City of Rotterdam! Could not agree more, that video I would of rated it 9 on 10, but with the omissions of one of the Best Tramway system in the World with The Hague, in the report, it got completely ignored, Tamara did any awful job there, so with this very big mistake that video will have 7 on 10 and I am being a bit generous here. To much high end Restaurants too and high end People, and it does not portray the real fabric of the City and its Diversity,only for those who can afford it, so this report is a hit and miss, but it does not deter its Beauty of a City and its Functionality. Thanks and take care and have a nice day.

      I agree on the part 'too much high end restaurants and high end people and it does not portray the real fabric of the City and its Diversity,only for those who can afford it'..
      Let me add that I also spotted this same pattern in every single video of city film mainly focusing on dutch cities
      Let's be honest now , is the Holland Casino really any highlight , so much that it is featured as a city 'attraction' in almost every single video?..Who visit's these high end restaurant's? Why are they mainly focusing on white dutch population only , when there are all sorts of people in example Rotterdam , there are more foreigners in Rotterdam than native dutch and they show that 'completely opposite' which is misleading for uninformed .where are all the black people on the streets , bum's and scum around central station ? There is so much focus on restaurants and cuisine , mainly Italian , Indian , French...because dutch cuisine is below poor and it does not offer any serious good meal recognized worldwide , if eating patatjes with mayonnaise and swallowing fish with onions is great or lekker , then I seriously pity these people..
      The sad part is that this country lacks a lot of things and I think that's the reason why they make these mini film's the way they do , they appear unreal but at the same time plain simple , there is nothing interesting in casinos and high end restaurant's and some non existing cuisine which are featured over 80% here ?! Museums are cool though , there are a lot of them , many canals with filthy water , plenty of rusty city bikes , plenty of disabled people riding their three wheeled scooters , plenty of dog shit on every green area , plenty of weird nosy neighbors , plenty of women who don't look like anything in this or any other video about dutch cities , there is no variety whatsoever in general but there is a lot of rain and wind wherever you go!

    • @grantsmith4151
      @grantsmith4151 8 років тому

      'Too much high end'? So you think the best way to attract people to a city is to say 'come to Rotterdam and eat in McDonalds and stay in a crappy back street B&B because that's all we have to offer!!

    Where was the cultural aspect of Rotterdam that makes it the vibrant city it is suppose to be. I am due to go out there soon. But bit disappointed there were no evidence of colour. Or maybe the aim was to erase these area's

    • @mambamba
      @mambamba 10 років тому

      As I said there is a lot of color in Rotterdam, once you step out the train at the train station. It does not show for some reason in this video, which is a shame. As the multi culturalism in Rotterdam is one of the cities greatest assets. I guess in the times we live, multi culturalism is not popular. :) think about it.

    • @tebarovski
      @tebarovski 10 років тому +3

      ***** Racist? No i'm a realist. Multiculturalism just doesn't work, everyone sticks to their own group. Dutch people hang out with dutch people, muslims hang out with muslims, black people hang out with black people and eastern europeans hang out with eastern europeans. There's hardly any mingling between the groups. Multiculturalism sounds nice, but it just doesn't work.

      ***** my question was directed to ThreeDaysGrace839 but for some reason I mistakenly tag your name... His statement seemed a bit unclear but now that he further explained his sentence I quite understand and share his point of view.

    • @mambamba
      @mambamba 10 років тому

      Multi culturalism only works if the original inhabitants are really tolerant and non judge mental. The Dutch society may be tolerant, but it is a very judge mental one for sure, which inhibits certain types of people to integrate, embrace opportunities or the lack thereof, or find jobs that suits them accordingly. Rotterdam is multi cultural, if you walk around the city and observe, there are lots of inter racial mixing. Friends of different races and backgrounds, including relationships. Multi culturalism clearly works in places like Aruba, Canada, and even the U.S.A. Hmm, all these places are in The Americas. :) Think about it, some how Europe has a problem of acceptance to be honest. But Netherlands, and Rotterdam in particular are front runners in Europe in wanting to achieve a multi cultural society that works.

    City of Kanker!

    • @jolanjump
      @jolanjump 10 років тому

      ik vind voetbal een saai spelletje, nooit interesse voor gehad.
      City of Kanker; de rotterdamse zwarte humor,ziektes& andere taboe's daar geven we niet om. De nuchtere deprimerende hardheid die haar inwoners heeft is uniek & wij moeten geen toeristen!

    • @mambamba
      @mambamba 10 років тому

      Why? Thousands of people die of it every day. Have some respect, and stop using a disease that affects hundreds of millions as we speak..

    • @jolanjump
      @jolanjump 10 років тому

      everybody will die, can't we make jokes about death eighter? no way!
      i'ts just like Youknowwho from harry potter...... it's just a name, and for the dutch it's a nice word to swear with...... it's what we do..
      Using diseases as curse words is not new, we have a long history of Tubercelose deaths and "Tering" is the most common desiase related swear word, used by older generations...
      It's not out of disrespect, it's dark humor.
