      Ibanez Soundgear, Warwick, Spector, Dingwall, Musicman (RHCP Flea) ... couldn't go too wrong with those choices \m/

      Depending on which model, it could have the Bartolini pickups and preamp on-board. It's an excellent setup for the stuff they're demoing. Super clean, clear signal. Might even be an 18v one, but I can't tell without seeing the back of the bass.

    Built-in reamp box is a nice touch. I wish that were a more common option.

    Hey not sure if you've done this before but could you do a comparison video between all the "affordable" solid state bass amps. I'm wondering what practice amp to buy but I'm more of a guitarist so don't have a clue which amp would be best for me.

    I misunderstood the title of this webcast. Thought "Will Lee" was the guest bassist. Not disappointed though!

    Now when I was going to look this up I thought it would be mega money going by the feature list but it is £525 which puts it into reach for the majority of working musicians.

      I would love one of these for bass and an IRT Studio for guitar just for the reamping in a home studio, alternately, an IRT Pulse for Bass would be a cool compact pedal sized recording tool \m/, although both need an effects loop too, so I can record the effects chain too ... if you decide to make these Laney, send me one of each please, as I have thrown the idea in the hat for you, lol

    • @richardwilliams1310
      @richardwilliams1310 7 років тому

      A combo version of the IRT Studio like the Nexus bass one would be pretty cool too. I noticed the bass head in the combo is different to the rack mount, as the rear panel on the rack has essentially been moved to the top on the combo to easily access the input and output jacks. I guess the same would have to happen to the IRT Studio for this to work in a combo, as it isn't just a matter of sliding the head into the combo speaker cabinets' railing/rack mount

    Great tone with both basses in this one, wish I could A/B this with the Ashdown EVO, not enough of these in my area. Why is everything I like these days British? The way this election is going, I should become a subject of the Crown anyway.

      Mike McKeen go with the Laney! If you haven’t already regretted your decision to go with the Ashdown. I have used Ashdown for many years but the Evo series really let me down and I then went with a Genzler 800 only to return it for this amp and it’s been everything I need and more with absolutely zero issues. Great amps!

    i'm looking at combos for my bass- what's the best i can do for under £170? my birthday is coming up next month, and i kinda want to treat myself for then and i'm dirt poor.
    i got my eye on the 25w orange crush, but can i do better for that sort of money? or should i save for the 50w?

    I'm not sure what riffs you were playing Nathan, but for whatever reason, it made me want to listen to Joe Satriani, especially Flying in a Blue Dream, solid bass lines with atmospheric overtones from Joe's guitar playing and sonic acrobatics ... thanks for the video Nathan, Captain Lee and to Andertons and Laney too \m/ Cheers from Australia \m/

      While I agree that the clear lack of preparation and knowledge of the products was not professional and did significantly detract from the quality of the information presented, and thus diminished what the viewer can glean from it in terms of information and entertainment, and they absolutely should have edited out and re-recorded the majority of the presentation up to that point, I will gladly take anything with a guitar and a bass jamming together over the bass being accompanied by a low quality synth being played as almost a gag or thow-away, turning the demo/review into a wasre of time st best and an insult to the intelligence of anyone subscribing and tuning in for a legitimate review and useful and actionable information .

      If you think it is funny, ;
      listen too these guy's review and do a side by side of the actual sound of your amp and the Ashdown. the Ashdown sounds much better. So laugh all you want. you wont be selling many bass amps like that.

    • @ethanlancaster76
      @ethanlancaster76 5 років тому +1

      gregg4164 I’ve owned both and I only own one now..the Laney. You really can’t base your opinion on a UA-cam video but you have to play them in a band setting and do some gigging and then tell me the Ashdown is a better sounding amp. Not even close.

    • @ethanlancaster76
      @ethanlancaster76 5 років тому +1

      Laney Amplification firstly, I’m a big fan of your amps and my Dad played your guitar amps extensively throughout a near 30 year span. And the fact that he had artist endorsements from some great manufacturers such as, Mesa Boogie, Fender, Line 6, Soldano, Valve-train and many more and still chose to pay and play through your amps is a huge testament to how good your amps really are. And he was playing them across the world with people like James Brown, Lucky Peterson, Fred Wesely, Nobel Watts, John Lee Hooker, Cannonball, and Nat Aderely, James Taylor and so on and was credited with the almost 200 records of playing on including two solo instrumental records that have become seminal and very respected recordings amongst guitar aficionados and players alike. So I think that gives one the idea of the level at which these amps were being used and the magnitude and importance of the stages that they were depended upon, and for years.
      Secondly, I honestly can’t say that I was surprised as a bass player that your bass amps would be good when I played through one at an outdoor festival with little to no sound reinforcement but I was seriously surprised and shocked that they were what turned out to be what I had been needing for years. I got it to churn out several very different tones for different types of music from a clean but classic thuddy and wide deep bellow to the other end of the spectrum of a modern HIFI scooped Gospe -R&B and pop tone that was shiny and pristine through my two Aguilar GS4x10” cabs stacked on each side of the stage and simply had them turn the top cabs around on each stack so they were opposing each other covering front and rear of the stage and still with ample clear audible stage volume and and even more volume as they were given space to throw deep into the back of the crowd from the elevated stage, and that’s were the powerful EQ really shined as I added some lows and highs with a touch of chorus (great feature and surprisingly close to the old Boss-CE2) for a killer tone that I can now call my own, and I just simply let the amps make it or brake it right there. I’ve owned one and later two ever since. I don’t use the FX much, but they are cool to have and they will do everything I need and more making a pedalboard for me obsolete. Reason enough, I save loading it onboard in the overhead when I have to fly. I’m down to a couple of basses, the Laney SLS Nexus in a small laptop computer bag and whatever cab choice I make for any gig. I’ve run it from front of house, DI only with no cabs and only XLR out to the PA and wedges for stage volume and I have run the XLR straight into the board with headphones on in the booth and it has been the sound of me every time. I get asked by bass players all the time why I choose to play through an amp made by a company known for making guitar heads and I either show them, or try to tell them. Several that I actually know of have one now. And btw no, I’m not a an artist endorse lol but huhmmm Laney..it’s never too late 😉😁
      so seriously I’m telling you if you give them a chance you’ll probably be surprised. And Laney, 🙏 please make a lower wattage ~300wtts maybe, please? Seriously I would love to run a 300 model into a single 4ohm cab for many different situations. Thanks for making good shii for years and remember, if you don’t have haters then you’re doing something wrong 😉👌💯✌️

    I really don't like the class D things. If I wanted to make it sound like my bass is going through a guitar amp I would just do that

    • @sweliam1
      @sweliam1 8 років тому

      You do know that most guitar amps are Class A or B?

    • @willieclark2256
      @willieclark2256 8 років тому

      I know that, but class D is so mid and hi heavy they might as well be voiced for guitar

    • @willieclark2256
      @willieclark2256 8 років тому +1

      +sweliam1 also guitar amps are either class A or class AB. I've never seen a class B guitar amp

    • @sweliam1
      @sweliam1 8 років тому

      My bad, should've said AB. And that's definitely a fair point.

    • @Todesnuss
      @Todesnuss 8 років тому

      Most modern ones are AB actually. Class D is more of a really clean pa kind of sound so actually the exact antithesis to something like a (tube) guitar amp. A class D ideally doesn't 'make' sound but should just reproduce it.
