I bought it early this year, the setup includes a separate 39 oled gaming monitor too, and a big cooling pad with a dust filter, a separate keyboard, mouse, and the performance is truly amazing.
Laptop daily driving is very underrated. I think the biggest issue is thermals which can sometimes cause the laptop to make more noise than you'd like. In terms of power consumption it is so much better and being able to bring it to other places is a big plus.
@@shinvdoom How is it in carrying around? I'd be carrying it around with me too often. How much battery life are you getting unplugged with the discrete GPU off and some power saving settings?
@@dreistheman7797 I carry a massive backpack with me daily so carrying it around wasn’t an issue. I do prefer 16 inch screen size though. Battery life I managed to get a few hours. Maybe around 4 hours iirc with constant UA-cam / twitch viewing. Biggest issue I was getting was like a screen flashing effect due to the mini led so I ended up returning it and got the legion pro 7. But as a positive it had great cooling, I mean I hope so with how massive this laptop is
One small note in case you'll be doing another comparisons like this: you've tested internal monitor of the laptop and external monitor on the PC. It's better to use external monitor for the laptops to get around 10-20% FPS increase and especially avoiding any issues with optimus and etc.
I just bought this today at Best Buy for $1,649 in excellent condition Yo -This comes with an Intel 14th Gen Core i9 14900HX, 32GB DDR5 @ 5600hz & NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 finally a 2TB SSD crazy Freak'en deal. Now I have a work & play laptop on the road and my 4090 MSI X trio can take a breather at home on my desktop. Hollly!!
@Grimmjow19872 yes, the display is bright, colors look great, keeps running cool running games in ultra settings. This is money well worth spent on such a powerful machine. Lastly, using it with my Quest 3 has been simply amazing running those VR games on ultra settings as well. Asus built a great product here yes, it's worth your money and time.
@Grimmjow19872 stays very cool, you don't have to worry about you fingers burning with the heat 🔥 thru the keyboard or the side vents. It does a great job pushing hest out through the back and pulling in cool air from sides and underneath. I'm impressed with such a powerful CPU & GPU. The hardware holds it own gaming and maintaining well balanced temperatures even with a little OC.
I been wanting a PC but really didn't have the space or room and was actually bummed I might have to get a laptop however this sounds perfect. How easy is it to hook laptops like this up to a 4k tv with the 2.1 HDMI and game?
stunning machine, coming from an Alienware x15 rtx 3080ti laptop (which i still have and love it) this is a huge step up, stunning screen quality and brightness, which you can really see when you compare the Alienware one which has around 400 nits. the performance is around 30% faster in fps in most games at 1440p. awesome machine very clever to get this power from a laptop and not be red hot to the tough....the only thing i will say is that it is not even close to the Alienware x15 in looks and build quality, but that's the the sacrifice for the performance and keeping price down.
I think my laptop have a problem, my screen freeze for a second or two after i open a game and there is a sound like of disconnect usb, can someone help?
Poor overall quality, poorly thought out design. For example - the camera that protrudes beyond the size of the laptop and has no protection when closed. The uneven surface below. Uncomfortable to hold. The very high rubber feet come off easily, they do not have a mechanical grip if they are still so high. I quickly lost one. The frequently used delete key is small and hidden on the top row. repeat end function on the keyboard. A CTL+C key and another CTRL+V key are missing, which would have been very useful. (evolution) Charging cable too short and too thick from the power supply to the laptop. The 220 power cord has an old model plug that disconnects very easily and produces sparks inside. The screen folds too easily in a certain position because there is not enough force to keep it up. You cannot purchase separately to quickly replace two batteries for situations when you are with a laptop in the field and you do not have electricity (on the old model I had two original batteries that I used and charged at home) The F keys are not illuminated and this slows down the work quite enough. I always have to count them. I would have preferred to look for those symbols on the F keys since I use them less often. The front camera is again of poor quality compared to the price of the laptop. In videoconferences, my image is the weakest compared to that of my colleagues... and there are more...
@@Grimmjow19872 I'm loving it so far. I've had an occasional video glitch where the screen stays black after it goes to screen saver mode. Not sure if it was system or video card, but nothing major. I have the 4090 card and 64RAM

its a nice desktop replacement, thank you for the content.
I have the 2023 16” RTX 4080 model. Beast of a machine in terms of performance, and the mini LED display is jaw dropping. So happy with my purchase.

how much did you buy it for
When they put it next to me I immediately chose scar 18. Bought it for 3500$

I have one only sad thing: you will need an external camera if you want to use Hello signing, etc
I have the 2024 version with a 4080 14900 and its amazing...it does my homework for me.
I own an rog strix scar 17 with 32 gb ram 2 tb ssd and I7 and a 2080 super it plays all games on ultra flawlessly
🤔
I think you forgot to include 2.5k mini led monitor with 1k nits brightness to the price of the PC. It's +600-700$ to the budget!
How does the Scar 18 preform on a 4k monitor?

Yeah I wonder why they didn't add a vapor chamber on this one... not knowledgeable enough on different cooling mechanisms however.
why giant ports came to left side?????!!!!!
