I'm a new chicken mom with 3, year-old laying hens. We're an hour north of Houston and had a huge thunder and lightening storm last night. This morning I found an egg in the chicken run (they always lay in the brooder box), and it had a super thick shell that resembled rubber with a watery light yellow fluid inside. Have you seen this with stressed chickens? Thank you, and I love your videos and that you're my neighbor.
I have seen those type of eggs before but was not able to connect it with any stress situations. We had those same nasty storms and my chickens laid perfect eggs today.
We’ve had rubber eggs laid. When you touch they usually pop open and seem normal inside. Also used to get very large eggs from one brown hen and once it was the size of a turkey egg. Never figured it out. Currently, five hens, with four regularly laying in summertime are not producing. We get one a day if lucky. Probably due to season with less sunlight and molting, and perhaps not enough protein in diet. The eggs lately have yolks that break immediately after cracking open. These hens are only two years old.
I searched for videos about Bumble food and since then I get numerous videos displayed, like yours. My English is not so good but I could understand most of it very well. Very informative and helpful, I will definitely save it. Thank you very much and greetings from the Shire in Germany.

First time chicken owner here. One of my chicks had impacted crop. Gave her warm water and oil, massages, and extra grit. She still struggled. Switched food and started getting her out to forage and she made a full recovery! I didn't know any better about the medicated corn+soy feed when I got them... Their feathers got very shiny after adding sprouted flax, chia, and BSF larvae. 😊
Hi I have a chicken who has won't eat ,can't stand up and doesn't seem to be able to support it's neck too well but when I held her up to wash her and check her she seems alert comb seems ok crop seems ok she has no feathers on her abdomen her vent is clean(now I did just wash her as she doesn't move so soils herself)and longelated any suggestions I have been syringing her electrolyte (homemade) they roam around outside any suggestions
Love your video (always do) but having some resolutions on those issues would be helpful too. I know you gave some, thank you. Is everything treated with medicine or are there natural things i can provide? I hear pumpkin seeds are a natural de-wormer. What else 😁? Love the pup too!!
I appreciate you showing pics of chickens with the symptom your describing because no one else does. I’ve watched many many videos some several times and so far very few show examples. One question, on the crop. Don’t the girls eat a lot before they go to roost so their crop will be full anyway? How does a full crop feel different than an impacted or sour crop?
You're welcome. They usually don't eat a lot before going to roost. If you are going to give scratch grains do it in the early part of the day. A normal crop will feel soft and pliable vs. hard and enlarged.
@@CountryLivingExperience my chickens like going to bed full. They always have. Is this a problem? I give them scratch once a day. Usually in the middle of the day around 3pm. Then I give them a little more feed. They still always complain. They act like they’re starving. I’ll bring them veggies or eggs too a few times a week.
They are not starving. They are just like any animal who is hand fed by humans. They will beg for more. Just look for any negative symptoms and modify and treat appropriately.
12:32 so I’m in Louisiana and out tempters are Hott, I have my birds in shade, I keep fresh water for them, I just put a fan out for them today. They have pale combs and are panting (not hard panting but everynow and then) I’ve looked for perisits and I still don’t see anything. They all are eating and drinking heavily. But there are feathers all over my chicken pen. No one’s got bold spots and everyone is looking healthy. I’m just concerned because there combs are pale and there’s feather’s everywhere
@@CountryLivingExperience Thanks ive been worried all night, i just checked on them and there combs look a tad better i seen that the older girls are scratching and rolling around in the dirt, so that gives me alittle bit of a better feeling. thank you sooo much for responding!
My hen doesn’t have anything respiratory. It’s been freezing temperatures past week or so. She hasn’t been very active. Watery poops. No sign of parasites. Eating and drinking albeit a lot less eating. Assume the cold can affect their circulation?
The dog distracted me the whole time, in a good way. I paid attention to what you were saying, but while constantly waiting for the dog to show up lol... feed that pup some extra treats today.
I have one hen with just a few missing feathers randomly over her body. Her comb is pale on top (like frostbite looks, but it wasn't like that in the winter.) Her appetite is great and she runs around with the others like normal. She is laying too, and I haven't noticed anyone picking on her. I've not noticed her crop enlarged, but now I will look more closely. One of our dogs got into their run a month or more ago and grabbed a few birds to play with before I got him out, so there is a possibility that she got stressed from that, but it hasn't happened again since then, although they can see the dogs' run from theirs so they see him daily. They free range in a large fenced area and get organic feed and kitchen scraps plus black soldier fly larva treats. They have several dirt bath areas they've made for themselves. Our basement sump pump outflow is in their area, and they love to play in the mud in warmer weather, and have fresh unfrozen groundwater there year round, as well as a waterer in their coop. I'm watching her in case she starts looking any worse, but I'm thinking maybe I should give her some anti-parasitic herbs or apple cider vinegar or black walnut hulls or something just in case she has some kind of parasite. My other girls are fine.
If it is just a few missing feathers and everything else is fine, I would not worry about it. She may be preening or is getting slightly pecked on and you just aren't getting the opportunity to see it happen.
I have 6 Golden Comets. I will admit to spoiling them but I am out with them multiple times a day for at least 15-30 minutes at a time. I have heard one of the hens struggling in the nest box and thought maybe it was just a large egg. As all of my chickens are the same type and same age, I will admit that I cannot readily tell them apart. 3 are larger and 3 are smaller. I would venture that the larger hens are 5 1/2-6 pounds and the smaller one are 4 1/2 to 5 pounds. I did notice that one seemed to have poop matted on her butt on Friday morning. I filled a bucket with warm water and decided that it wouldn't hurt any of them to take a quick "bird bath". I dipped them in up to their backs while holding them down across the top of the back. None were thrilled to go in but once there, they seemed to enjoy it, especially since when I took them out, I wrapped them in a towel to fry off and let them peck a while in the flock block. They all responded positively and it got their feet and undercarriage cleaned off. On Saturday, I noticed that one of the girls was covered in poop on her back side and strongly suspected that it was the same one as on Friday. I took her and put her in the bucket of warm water for about 20 minutes gently rubbing her back side trying to get it clean. Dried her off and held her for a while longer while wrapped up and, when seemed to get antsy, I put her back in the run and she seemed to be fine. Sunday was fine but only 5 eggs (not concerning). This morning, I got 5 eggs by 9 o'clock. I cleaned the coop tray as I do every morning and noticed that one of the hens had gone into the nest box. I didn't see her go in and it is dark. I didn't want to disturb her so I didn't try to look and see if it might have been the same one. Finished cleaning the tray and raked out the run and came inside for a cup of coffee. Went back out about 11 and gave the girls a treat and checked the box on the way back to the house. I saw an egg that I thought had been pecked. It was covered in really thick albumen all the way around. The shell wasn't visably broken so I decided to wash it and see. It took a little gently rubbing to get the albumen off and, to my surprise, I found an intact egg. Normally, the chicken eggs weigh between 1.9 and 2.4 ounces. This one weighed 2.1 ounces so it is my belief that maybe it is a regular egg. Is it possible that she tried but was unsuccessful at laying the egg and instead of a new egg having a shell develop, that the egg instead attached itself to the first egg? Unlike you, this is my first real foray into raising chickens (my grandparents had chickens and I used to feed them and gather the eggs from the hen house but that was well over 60 years ago). Any thoughts?
I honestly don't know. I have never heard of anything like that. I am certainly no expert on chickens. If she is not acting sick, I would say there is no problem. Just keep an eye on her. Try to change the diet a bit if she keeps having pasty butt.
One chicken had some blood around the feathers by her vent which I gently washed off. She seems fine now. Vent looks normal. Is she just at the end of laying?
Hi, found your channel and love how you communicate the issues, and explain situations. I am new to chickens. I had two given to me, they are small Cochins. One is great, the other is slow, lethargic, does hunch and stand around and quiet. But then later will interact with the other and eat a little. She also hangs out in her hut more. Been a month now and I have bought two different medications. One mite drops. That is done, the other is herbal drink to keep works and mites away. They are semi freerange with an old herb garden and nice hut. I am about to also mix them with 3 silkies that I have been raising in a tent. Have you and advice? Husband wont allow mw to take her to the vet, that is a €100 bill 😅
Thank you. She is most certainly sick. The trick is to figure out what is wrong with her. Check her crop and check to see if she is egg bound also. It could be one of many things. Try something to deworm her too.
I could hardly pay attention on you talking about the chickens. LOL the dog in the back ground going back and forth, back and forth had all my attention 😂😂😂
My little baby flew into her perch the other day and had an open sore on her beak for a couple days. I just made sure the others didnt notice it too much and applied hen healer.
Thank you for this Video. Very informative. I deal with mites a lot. Have to keep dusting my chickens behind. I do it in the evening before they go inside, since the mites are most active at night time. I dust everything, the nesting boxes, the floor of their coop and the outside feeding areas. I also use diatomaceous earth in the area they dust bathe in. It all requires work, but a happy chicken will lay a happy egg 🥚😂
My flock is going through something and trying to narrow it down I think they have something respiratory. First it started with are duck sneezing and coughing 3 days later our bantam rooster was crowing and it sounded weird he has snot and sneezing. It keeps spreading to our other chickens I’ve treated with Vet Rx and gave them electrolytes they get cleaned daily.
Doggy plotting his prison escape pacing back and forth, lmao I have 3 chickens but 1 only lays an egg every few days while the others lay every day. She also sneezes a lot, should I be worried?
He is always plotting...lol. If the hen is just sneezing and has no other symptoms, she should get over it. She just needs a good diet and fresh air. If you see that she is lethargic, swelling of her combs and around eyes, has diarrhea, or is walking funny, that could be something more serious.
I will pray. Also, please start the process of trying to get the egg out of her. Warm epsom salt bath and massage the area where the egg is. You can also use olive oil and try to get it out of her vent. Look for videos on that.
To add to your all as I have had chickens for 60 years. I have an elderly chicken about 9 years of age. Depending on your finances and how far you wish to go. She was not feeling well. Crabby and and not moving much. I went in to my Avisru Vet. With x-rays and what I coined as chicken med exM a b and b. Meaning beak to butt exam. We found due to her age she had arthritis. She now gets meds of arthritis meds, pain pills and gabba Penton. My chicken is an English Fighter but she is mixed so she is tiny and named vanilla. I am adding to this to your awesome site as no one wants to spend money in the amount I have. She will still be around but not alone younger. There are no cardiac chicken Dr's. Vanilla has some small cardiac. I give her one bilberry pill in 1 gallon of milk. Depending where u are add actbmvatez char coal to water ad wrll. We have so many toxins in our environment it will help add some aloe and garlic and uour birds will be safer or any of my suggestions. Vanilkas comb turns purple but use of this given to ky flock makes them healthy along with your ideS add garlic as well and tiny apple cidar vinegar. My chickens are service chickens and it is imperative they remain well as I am chemically allergic and go into coma states as we have high pollution in Reno most days and smoke. Smike can kill birds. U can not get federal chicken rescue permits but you can have a Dr give a letter. My birds if they can not breath run to slider door and come in sit next to air purifiers and do well. They have cages for setting and sleep. Learn to adapt as we do not know what this crazily future brings In areas that may become dangerous to leave them out like mine is becoming in Reno they become in birds and are relaxed and hapoy...but would rather he.out. They as well lovevto watch game of thrones video the queen and her dragon. Funny.. Hope this helps..please be safe make sure birds are locked up as chicken theft will be massive soon. I have a chicken who has been grieving for her best friend for the last 12 months. She seldom scratches around, she stands quietly on her own a lot, and she only just eats enough to stay alive. Its so sad to see. I have no idea how to help her.
I have a Bantam Cream Legbar hen that has had a pale comb since we bought her at 1 month old. This is natural for the breed from what i have seen in internet searches. Or is it? I am a newbie! Watching your videos helps so much 😊
Glad the vids are helpful. I have never owned that specific breed. If she does not display any symptoms of sickness, then she should be fine. If she is eating well and is active, then I would not worry.
Hi. One of my chicks is showing number 4 symptoms. She´s hunched up and looks very lethargic. It´s warm here, but not hot. I´m not sure why she´s like this.
@@CountryLivingExperience I raise purebred collies, and know what the signs are in them, when they don't feel well (how I wish we could talk to our animals!). So I suspected one of my young males was stressed out and not eating or interacting with the flock. I knew something was off. He was always top bird in the flock from day 1 with us, we call him Officer Blue, (because he's a blue-red Wyandotte) and always was putting the others in order with his law and order demeanor. So he was off. The education I received from you, had me checking his blood flow color (pale) in the skin areas, and he seemed to have lost some weight. Held him up to my ear to hear the breathing (a good diagnostic technique, if you have a good non-pecking relationship with the bird), yes he had some raspy breaths. So I knew he was in decline and needed intervention. Treated the respiratory issue with water with garlic and some other herbal extracts (I use them myself) and also electrolytes etc. in his water. And then he sat calmly in my lap for some de-stressing time (he usually does not like the touchy-feeling interactions, so I knew he was mentally stressed in some way to accept this human interaction). We put him and other possible stressed candidate, in a dog crate for a destressing time-out from the flock. And they both bounced back today, in less than 24 hours. They may have been a bit dehydrated a few days ago and some wind had come up, so I'm not surprised they had some symptoms. Also the other male and a bossy Barred Rock hen, must have picked on him sensing he was not his confident self, because we found many feathers in our flock coop yesterday. So some bullying must have happened. (and maybe some light worm infestation...they all got the garlic water last night). I somewhat think these birds are really sensitive to stress? Mental and physical, because they decline so fast? I do spend time with them and now examine all of them for healthy blood flow and normal behavior, because those are the easy first signs of something is going wrong...and it works! Thanks so much from Barb and Officer Blue....he will live another day to keep his flock in good order!! 🐓
I have a limping hen today. I examined closely. No infection, scratches, blisters or bumble foot. So idk 🤷♀️ I soaked her in a warm Epsom bath for 30 min which she settled down onto and seemed to enjoy. May have helped a tiny bit but she is still really babying the left foot. Hope it’s not a tell-tell of something serious.
I've got a 3 year old serama hen who's been mostly lethargic for around 3 days now. Her abdomin and rear end are swollen and her vent is pulsating. She'll eat some but won't drink. she's occasionally starting acting more normal where she'll walk around in the backyard and scavenge for food. I thought she might be egg bound but I haven't felt an egg and it's been more than 48 hours yet she's still alive. Any ideas?
Have you ever had a hen with a waddle (one side) swollen like a balloon? What should one do about this situation? She has had it for over a week and is starting to hunch up.
Hello, New to chickens.. Our adopted rooster is appearing to have neurological issue. twisting neck, hanging neck down, loss of some balance during episode to go up ramp to roost. Any suggested first steps to treat/diagnose?
That is probably Torticollis (or Wry Neck). It happens for many different reasons including nutrient deficiency (mostly Vit D and E), a fungal infection, or even Mareks or Newcastle disease. Try getting some pro-botics into him and some nutrient dense feed first. Then try to reevaluate as you go.
I have got to know more about your Border Collie in the background of your videos! My 2 yr old BC circles the chicks as well! Thank you for this good info!
Hi I have two small baby chicks and they were ok but one of them started shaking and bouncing on his legs and today he could not tame up. I still got them under lamp they are only 3 week and 3 day old. I not using food from chicken food store. I grind corn and wheat to very fine pieces added boiled egg and cottage cheese for calcium and protein. They loved it I also given them grind hazelnut only. Small portion. This one poly jumped into water and I dried her with a hair dryer gently to not overheat her. Not sure what is the problem I given them slo b vitamin an glucose the weak got a little bit better but still could not walk. I given him the glucose in lukewarm water and that also contain b vitamin riboflavin. I noticed he is breathing hardly Not sure if menthol oil is not to strong for them because they are still babies
Heats been kinda rough on em. Only got about half of them to sign off on their wading pool. One even gets in there and stomps around like a kid splashing the water. Funny as hell.
I have a singular chicken I grabbed since she was a chick and she is now 2 years old. Earlier today I saw her drooling randomly. Is that normal? If not what should I do to help her without involving the vet?
pup is really ancy!! he wants to work ! i was hoping to find out what might be wrong with one of my hens: lethargic, stands alone, not eating much, picked on, tail down, and looks cold. she isolates from the others, has cloudy eyes. not laying, but definitely broody. i know nothing of what the terms are.
He is. He needs some sheep to herd but I don't have time for that. Your hen could have many of the issues I talked about. Try looking for a egg that is bound up in her.
I had 2 hens die over the winter. Each one started with a limp, which eventually led to lethargy and even using a wing to prop themselves up when trying to walk. Each time I inspected their feet and didn't see bumblefoot. I tried putting one in an epsom salt bath on 2 occasions but that didn't help. The only thing I did notice was one time the rooster jumped from a roosting bar and landed on one of the girls and that definitely did not help the situation. Once I saw that 2 hens died and couldn't figure out the reason I got rid of the rooster just in case. We have a small flock and it would be nice to keep a roo' around for reproduction and protection but it'll probably be awhile before we get another one. I just wish I knew why they both started limping in the first place.
Mr Eric Great informational videos you get right to the point. I’m noticing on my a couple of hens the combs and faces are turning black. Any help is greatly appreciated I wish I could send u a pic but I don’t think that’s possible in the comments
Hello. You're welcome. A black comb could indicate a lot of different things. It could be frostbite from this past winter, could be scabs from pecking, or it could indicate fowl cholera. Look for other symptoms and try to piece it together.
thank you for this video. We have a chicken who is totally puffed up, walks slowly and when she bends over to peck at food, she actually vomits - its a pale green slimy looking substance. do you have any ideas on what her problem may be ?

I never give mine any medicated feed. I think it weakens them for future potential illnesses. I give probiotics periodically in their water. Maybe every 3 months. Their probiotics come from eating the grass and bugs around them mostly.
You didn’t mention the white liquid sack that fell out of my chicken today 🤦♂️ and a gross bottom that needed cleaning 🤦♂️🤦♂️ Let’s hope that’s a one off because this is my first flock and my first egg was laid just a few days ago 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
My chickens run my backyard . I have fifteen. They love my patio and poop all over it. I wash it down twice a day. Never saw any parasites. A little foamy a couple of times for a day or two or runny a few times I attributed it to being a hot day here in Arizona high desert. My first six are almost a year, next five are about six months and the other four are three months/weeks. First group had vaccinations. Second medicated crumble. Last four-nothing. They seem to be doing fine. Should I worry especially cause I wash the poo off the patio and it makes a little stream out into the yard they walk through it .
Chickens are pretty resilient. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless they are drinking the water. Maybe put up a fence around the patio so you don't have to wash it every morning.
I seen the video of how to watch out for chicken illnesses. My question is what can I do If my chicken has an open wound. And Has some black on the skin.

I couldn’t make a video covering both subjects because people get too annoyed with long form videos. I will make another one on remedies soon.
@@CountryLivingExperience HA I totally understand that. Can't please everyone. Keep doing what you're doing!
@@CountryLivingExperience I'll be looking forward to that one!
Thanks will look forward to solutions very helpful for me a beginner
Very informative . Thank you .We are hoping to start chickens in the fall after we build a chicken coupe
Glad it was helpful!
Bumblefoot is common when you have square roostingbars, they should be round with a diam of 2,5 1/4 inch.
You are doing the right things in addition to keeping an eye on them. Just continue to monitor them. There is not much more you can do.
@@CountryLivingExperience Thanks ive been worried all night, i just checked on them and there combs look a tad better i seen that the older girls are scratching and rolling around in the dirt, so that gives me alittle bit of a better feeling. thank you sooo much for responding!
At the end of ur video, I see your dog running under circles... too cute. Thanks for sure.
You're welcome
Wow the dog is still doing claps around the pen, month's later lol🤣
That dog is hilarious. Thanks for the info--it's really helpful!
Hey, this is a great video- @5:05 you skip over purple combs, can you give more info on that please?
It means they are not getting enough oxygen. So they have poor circulation or a respiratory issue.
My hen doesn’t have anything respiratory. It’s been freezing temperatures past week or so. She hasn’t been very active. Watery poops. No sign of parasites. Eating and drinking albeit a lot less eating. Assume the cold can affect their circulation?
If she is not eating well and has watery poop, then she is sick. Potentially a respiratory issue.
WoW I just LOVED all that info!!! Thank you so Much for the valuable KNOWLEDGE!
You’re welcome. Glad it was helpful.
You puppy is such a good guardian of your flock
Thank you. He does a good job.
I put some frozen water in a gallon jug for my chickens to sit around to cool off. They like to stand on top of them too lol.
Nice!
Very informative, great video!
What de wormer do you use for your chickens and does it take care of all worms and parasites?
We honestly just get whatever out local feed store has. I didn’t even see a brand on the bottle.
Your dog is cracking me up, walking back and forth. I know it's a herding dog. Great video! I just inherited x3 chickens.
Glad the video was helpful. Yep, he makes appearances like that in most of my vids….always trying to herd.
The dog distracted me the whole time, in a good way. I paid attention to what you were saying, but while constantly waiting for the dog to show up lol... feed that pup some extra treats today.
He has so much energy.
She could have had a very large egg come out. Happens to mine all the time
@@CountryLivingExperience thank you for replying so fast. She’s around 6 so could be her last blast😅
Thank you so much for the very informative video
You’re welcome
I could hardly pay attention on you talking about the chickens. LOL the dog in the back ground going back and forth, back and forth had all my attention 😂😂😂
He is an attention hog.....lol.
My little baby flew into her perch the other day and had an open sore on her beak for a couple days. I just made sure the others didnt notice it too much and applied hen healer.
The dog behind it s amazing 😀
How do you fix egg bound?
Epsom salt bath and you have to try to help them pass the egg. Gloves on, see if you can feel it. Try not to break the egg.
We describe how to do it in this video......ua-cam.com/video/maO574TT_2M/v-deo.html
@@CountryLivingExperience I watched the video and thank you for sharing this information with me. How did the chicken get?
You're welcome. She died. We were too late.
You're welcome. Happy healthy chickens are the best.
Thanks for all your information
You’re welcome
My flock is going through something and trying to narrow it down I think they have something respiratory. First it started with are duck sneezing and coughing 3 days later our bantam rooster was crowing and it sounded weird he has snot and sneezing. It keeps spreading to our other chickens I’ve treated with Vet Rx and gave them electrolytes they get cleaned daily.
What do you use to worm your chickens?
The bottle just says Poultry Dewormer 5x. I buy it at my local feed store.
Doggy plotting his prison escape pacing back and forth, lmao
I have 3 chickens but 1 only lays an egg every few days while the others lay every day.
Great info 👍. How about eye infections? I've had this happen to my chooks twice. Is it also a common problem?
Thanks. I have not seen eye infections in mine. Usually those are a symptom of something bigger.
Thanks so much for the information and very useful I'm janat Abdallah from Kampala Uganda East Africa
You’re welcome
Good information- thanks! What’s wrong with your 🐶 why is he repetitively run in the same circle??
You’re welcome. He is a Border Collie. It is his instinct to try to herd, so he is attempting to herd my chickens.
I’m so worried about my chick Ashley, her eggs are stuck, will you pray for her thank you🙏🐾🐣💛
I will pray.
Learn to adapt as we do not know what this crazily future brings
In areas that may become dangerous to leave them out like mine is becoming in Reno they become in birds and are relaxed and hapoy...but would rather he.out.
They as well lovevto watch game of thrones video the queen and her dragon.
Funny..
Hope this helps..please be safe make sure birds are locked up as chicken theft will be massive soon.

Hi, I'm new to chicken care. This is very helpful. Did you or can do a follow up video on what to do when I see these signs and symptoms?
Glad it was helpful. I have not had the opportunity to do a follow up video.
I have a chicken who has been grieving for her best friend for the last 12 months. She seldom scratches around, she stands quietly on her own a lot, and she only just eats enough to stay alive. Its so sad to see. I have no idea how to help her.
Very informative..would also like to know treatment
❤Appreciate the signs and one i think i have to check ✔️ so thank you!
You’re welcome
I have a Bantam Cream Legbar hen that has had a pale comb since we bought her at 1 month old. This is natural for the breed from what i have seen in internet searches. Or is it?
I am a newbie! Watching your videos helps so much 😊
Glad the vids are helpful.
I have never owned that specific breed. If she does not display any symptoms of sickness, then she should be fine. If she is eating well and is active, then I would not worry.
@CountryLivingExperience oh I just learned that combs are usually paler before they are sexually mature. Is that r? She is only 3 months old.
Green tea is cooling: cool watermelon
Ginger tea warming ok with cayanne, chili seeds
Thank you for your knowledge this one of the best videos out there

That is a mystery. Hope she gets better and you can figure out what it is.
Any ideas?
Sounds egg bound to me. That's all I can think of.
@@CountryLivingExperience alright, thanks.
Have you ever had a hen with a waddle (one side) swollen like a balloon? What should one do about this situation? She has had it for over a week and is starting to hunch up.
I have not had that issue with mine. It sounds like it is infected. You need to try to clean it and get an antibiotic on it like Vetricyn.
Great video 🐓
Thank you
We are thinking about buying the netting fence like you have do your chickens try to fly over is?
Cool. We clip their wings
Do you have a booklet on these sign of illness and their cures. I'm in Rustenburg how can I get it?
I don’t have anything like that
Can you tell us some solution to the problem too? Thanks.
I will have to do a separate video on that
Hello, New to chickens..
Cool. His name is Duke and he loves to herd my chickens.
Hello my hen has some little reddish things crawling on her feather inside, are they lice or mites? 😢
Those are mites. Treat her soon
I noticed he is breathing hardly
Not sure if menthol oil is not to strong for them because they are still babies
Heats been kinda rough on em. Only got about half of them to sign off on their wading pool. One even gets in there and stomps around like a kid splashing the water. Funny as hell.
Lol. Mine have been ok in the heat. They have a lot of shade.
Hello! QUESTION how do we prevent bullying? Do we need to separate them? Thanks.
Yes. Usually separating the bully will work. However, if you have a rooster, he should take care of it.
I have a singular chicken I grabbed since she was a chick and she is now 2 years old. Earlier today I saw her drooling randomly. Is that normal? If not what should I do to help her without involving the vet?
That is one symptom/behavior that I am unfamiliar with.
pup is really ancy!! he wants to work !
i was hoping to find out what might be wrong with one of my hens: lethargic, stands alone, not eating much, picked on, tail down, and looks cold. she isolates from the others, has cloudy eyes. not laying, but definitely broody.
i know nothing of what the terms are.
That is so interesting. I am not sure.
We have the same limping issues and even broken leg that are unexplained, I know that Merck’s (*?) can cause brittle bones.
Pale crop? Or do you mean comb? 🤷♀️ Also, thank you for all the great information you share! ❤
You're welcome. I probably misspoke and meant comb.
Your dog sure does a good job of keeping varmints away from the coop. Good info, now do you have measures of healing for all these said illnesses?
He does. A good watchdog. I don’t have a remedies video as of yet. We do have some specific vids in our chicken playlist however.
Mr Eric
Great informational videos you get right to the point. I’m noticing on my a couple of hens the combs and faces are turning black. Any help is greatly appreciated
I wish I could send u a pic but I don’t think that’s possible in the comments
Sounds like she has a severely impacted crop or potentially sour crop (depending if it smells sour).
I put a tin roof over my 2 main part of my chickens runs to keep them safe from hawks and keep sun off them they do have a free range area not covered but fenced in
Cool
At what age do you start probiotics? I JUST got chickens yesterday. I have them on medicated starter but also saw the probiotics product.
I never give mine any medicated feed. I think it weakens them for future potential illnesses. I give probiotics periodically in their water. Maybe every 3 months. Their probiotics come from eating the grass and bugs around them mostly.
That poor English Shepherd... Lol
Luv'em!
MY CHICKEN HAS A ROUND LUMP ON ITS BACK . WHAT IS IT AND HOW TO TREAT IT , THANKS.
I seen the video of how to watch out for chicken illnesses. My question is what can I do If my chicken has an open wound. And Has some black on the skin.
Use Vetericyn spray for open wounds. The black could be many different things.
Which dewormer do you suggest every 6 months? Which Flea, Lice, Mite Bath Dip do you suggest?
I use whatever dewormer my local feed store has. I don’t treat them for anything else.
How to help an injured one that was fighting two roosters at once and beaten?
