This was the first game I bought when I got my quest 2 last weekend. It’s such a blast, especially with a few friends and you screw around with each other’s shots in god mode.
I can’t believe I didn’t get this sooner. Been playing VR for 3 years now and wrote this off due to my disinterest in mini golf, but this is actually incredible.

@@branpod RecRoom is free and has a few good games you can play. If you like table tennis, then Eleven Table Tennis is really good (very realistic physics). Loco Dojo is fun, and even better with more than 2 players. That's what I can think of off the top of my head which is more kid friendly.
@@branpod Real VR Fishing is a good chill and talk game. It even has a build in web browser so you can listen to music and watch youtube while you fish. Though it is only a personal browser, not a shared browser.
Just got my first VR headset, Quest 3, and I looooove this game. I wish i had a huge room so i could just walk with my legs in game, which you could with enough irl space. Hopefully omnidirectional treadmills get good and affordable soon!
So much fun!!!! The graphics are stellar, the courses are challenging, and the worlds are entrancing. The hidden ball feature is a fun side challenge, and the scavenger hunts are my favorite. Don't forget to go to the practice areas and you can even ride would around on the raft.
This game is totally worth it. 👌 So much fun and they really did mini golf in VR well. I am now looking to get some of the add on courses like MYST or 20,000 leagues under the sea. This game and Puzzling Places are so fun and relaxing. 3D puzzles are amazing, brings such a new spin on puzzles in general.
Walkabout Mini Golf is definitely THE mini golf VR game. I'm honestly really impressed with what the devs have done with this game, and it has improved nicely since this review.
easily one of my favorite VR games - multiplayer is fun, but soloing those holes at your own pace is one of the best chill out experiences ever. Btw, I suggest you go to their discord channel and check multiplayer rooms to see where people are and join them. Should be in game, but this is ok too. The maps are such beautiful and enjoyable places to be in and this is always important in VR...
You can go backwards when you point your golf stick back and push analog forward This game is a kind of game, which looks booring - putting ball in the holes on small maps - but when you try it, it sucks you for hours :) Same effect like Racket NX
Yeah I meant you couldn't go backwards traditionally by pulling your thumbstick back like other smooth-locomotion games allow. I totally agree with you though, it's much better than I imagined and I love playing!
I got the game today after being recommended by a friend on wander I decided to check it out and see how it is before wether I will refund it within 2 hours of gameplay. I quite liked it its appeard very easy at first but I have not a clue about golf and how and what to do to make points. Actually I am confused. Other than that playing of the strokes is fun having to time the ball through a maze or make it go in between objects or a tunnel in a timely way. I got some advice from my very first online partner. A 9 year old kid. He was more patient than I was he taught me a little then a second guy came on and he never spoke whatsoever. He kept directing Me to pick up lost balls. The third guy came and bailed out a few minutes later. I like the practice mode but not happy with the timed practice. I hope I do end up enjoying this as it's early days
You can play cross-play, but you still need to punch in a friend code. There still isn't a friends list, but I've gotten accustomed to it and it's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
Ok I set it up as a woman the best I could. I needed confirmation that there want anything special in the settings to switch the faces to more female traits to start with. Really appreciate your fast response. I subscribed. Keep up the good work
This is hands down one of thr best games I've played in VR. The replay factor alone is enough to keep you coming back. Best $15 I've ever spent on a game!

8:05 Strongly disagree. I love the peace and solitude. This is a game I play to relax on after a long day, where I want to just be alone. None of those things sounds like they add anything to the game other than distractions you'll see on your first run and ignore every time you return. Its just a waste of artist resources making it take longer to come out with new courses for very, very little gain.
I respect your opinion, and definitely find some points valid, but I think having some kind of animated event would add a lot of value. Imagine an underwater aquarium course without any fish. Now imagine the same course but with fish to observe while you wait for your friends to make their play. Better, right? This is all I mean by this. I want more to look at in VR. Wasting artists resources? I strongly disagree with this. If this is your argument, then artists would be obsolete. Instead, this is giving artists a job to fulfill, and only adding value to the game as a whole.
Two years latter and they still releasing new courses. Not everyone wants VR to be a burden on a system when performance is CPU or GPU limited, keeping consistent across platforms and system is critical for a coherent experience, especially in multi-player games. This is a great game and still in 2024 worth every penny.
Had my oculus a few months now and haven't really played with it. But a friend on discord was saying that it was so good, so thought I'd check it out on here first. Buy this game!!! Literally my favorite vr game hands down. I played one map then immediately bought all the expansion maps. This game is why vr was built. Mini golf is fun and all but, this game takes you to mini golf in space or on the side of a cliff In Arizona or even in a submarine 20,000 leagues under the sea (yes a Jules Verne inspired map). There a bunch of cool features and it’s even fun to look around and try to find the hidden golf balls. And honestly so far I have no complaints with the game either. Yes there are maps you have to buy however, the base game comes with a good amount of maps. If you have vr and you want a vr experience get this game lol.
Another new map is coming in 9 days! I'd imagine they'll continue to support this game for a while longer since they're still pushing out new maps every month.
You can in fact move in any direction you want, if you use hand oriented locomotion. (Which is my favourite way of locomotion anyways, because you can freely look around without changing your movement direction)

I pretty much disagree with much of your cons. But I agree Friends list would be great but even better would be a "Club House" where players are handicapped. I hate the big head that has to go i my opinion. I think Teleport is the best option for this game and I really do like the single controller. All in all great review .. thanks

That in game friends list is a great idea. I started playing the game two weeks ago, and already ran into the issue of losing a few new friends. Definitely going to use discord as a workaround in the meantime. If anyone is on the fence about getting the game though, it has my recommendation as well. Such a great game that I've already put in more hours playing than any other VR title I own.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING game! This is one of thee best developed games ive played in a long time! Everything is easy to understand, i get matched instantly everytime with one click.. solved the issue with no walk backwards...set your spawn to ball distance to 10 then move forward. beautiful masterpiece! introduce friends list multi platform and the devs (MIGHTY COCONUT) are looking at a perfect game!
I just bought it and I cannot wait to play it this weekend with my cousin. That is a massive shame about only having 1v1 public pvp. Having to spend time meeting people and hopefully adding enough friends to fill out a 4 person private room with the cross platform hurdles you mentioned is weak as hell. This could be the ultimate drinking beer with randoms vr game besides VRchat if they figured that out.
Glad you got it, you're going to have a ton of fun with it! They should add some kind of lobby you can chat with people before getting in a match or something. Or some 4 player matchmaking would be cool too for a bigger social setting.
There is a very active community on the game's Discord. Plenty of people to play with, and even friendly competition. I run a weekly tournament there, and we are currently getting over 100 players each week!
Now they've added Labyrinth and Myst Island. I bet Solitude and Whiterun would both make wonderful courses. It sounds like people are still locking their VR headsets to their own platforms?

@@darrennew8211 Ah I see what you mean now. You can play with your friends cross-platform, you just need to enter a code to join their lobby, so it's pretty simple. My complaint in the video was that there isn't an intuitive friends list system built into the game, in case you wanted to add someone as a friend just to play Walkabout Mini Golf with. That's a good question about playing on a single headset. I don't believe they have any system for this, but I haven't played in a couple months.
I think you missed the point for playing multiple people crossplay. by having a private room setting for people to join gets around the problem of having no friend system on VR over multiple systems. Yes, it does mean the players have to type in the name of the private room, but the game stores the last room you played so as long as you don't change the name, friends can quickly join in future games.
I appreciate your input. My point was that the game can be improved, and having an in-game friends list would contribute to this improvement, since it's a bit tedious having to message or call your friend to tell them the name of the room - especially doing this while wearing a VR headset. Don't you think it would be much easier to invite your friends to a game without needing to remove your VR headset to gather information?
If they can get IP from Marvel, Harry Potter, and Avatar, this would be killer app for VR. The only living creature I've seen so far is the sheep so they have the ability to add "animatronics" but personally, I prefer not to have things doing jump scares while I'm trying to play golf. The possibilities really are endless though. They could add more lively courses.
Whoa I never said I want jump scares haha, that wouldn't be ideal in such a peaceful and relaxing game. I love how you used the term "animatronics" for a video game haha. This is something used for movies and television, or just for fun when animating something to look realistic while using robots. In gaming, this is simply called animations, and it's what will keep this game going, otherwise environments feel empty. Take a look at their new map, Atlantis. They have animated fish, turtles, whales, and stingrays swimming all around you while you're immersed at the bottom of the ocean. Without the animated fish, the course would feel empty, and it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable. I think the devs are on the right path here, but I still desire a bit more. Thanks for hanging out Ben! It is most definitely worth it. I agree that some animations would be a great additions. Maybe some player hazards (not ball hazards) might be a fun option. But all in all, an amazing game.
I’ve played this game with my uncle pretty much every day when I first got my vr! It’s so much fun, and highly recommend it above any other game. It’s great.

I play every day mainly because I am not so good.....yet! I am 67 and convalesing from open heart and total knee replacement! My husband bought this for me to help me focus on getting up and moving. I love it. Now to get good enough so people don't get upset when playing because I am not up to par ( no pun intended!)

Worth it? Yes yes yes yes . I’ll take some edibles, turn on walkabout and I’m transported into a different dimension. The music on every single course is absolutely perfection, the lighting is time shifting, the courses are out of this world.
@@ThisKory true indeed. I usually pues the trigger to be teleported (while holding the club upwards) and then readjust my position by repositioning in real life. But I might activate the "grip to put" option. Didn't know about it, so thanks!
@@ThisKory There is an option in settings where you can position the ball so that it remains in the center of your play space as long as you use the trigger to teleport.
Got this for $11 on sale this week in the Oculus store - I originally bought Quest 2 for exercise only but this game has broadened my interests! I like that I can move around & not just sit. I have some neck/head pain though, I think from holding my head down so much while playing this & putting all the weight hanging forward. With the extra $$ I saved I plan to buy the extra courses asap! Your review put me over the edge to purchase, btw, thank you!
That's amazing, I'm glad I could help you make a decision to purchase this game! It's a ton of fun, but I have to agree that playing for longer periods may cause some neck discomfort due to the nature of looking downwards while putting. Sometimes, adding a counter-weight on the back of the head strap can help alleviate this issue, but the added weight may make it worse as well, so you would have to experiment with things to see what works best for you. If you go to the discord, there is a lot of people finding games together. Not a friends list, but a great way to find games that are not the quick match.
Would VR games on PC be better as far as graphics (and others) over buying/installing from Oculus headset? Would you happen to know the pros and cons of PC Steam VR games vs Oculus games? Thanks in advance
VR games will always look and play better than a standalone headset, because PCVR has much more power to run these games with better graphics and higher framerates to get smoother gameplay. The only cons to PCVR is that it's more expensive because you need a PC that can run VR, and a PCVR headset will be more expensive than a Quest 2. You can use a Quest 2 for PCVR, but it's not ideal because you get heavy compression if linked via USB. Wireless is an option, but I'd just recommend a PCVR headset if you plan on using PCVR.
There isn't any reason to get nauseous because you're standing still and have teleport options. So if you don't get sick playing something like Job Simulator or Beat Saber, then you won't get sick playing Walkabout Mini Golf.
@ThisKory ok i seen people walking round golf course, i hate being so sensitive to vr on things, rollercoasters nope, re village hell nope, gt7 can do 3 races then break, horzion with string vigenette didnt bother me so much, but alot of things def do
Ghosts and western theme go well together, why else? That isn't my point in the video though. It doesn't have to be ghosts, it can be anything which just makes the environments feel more alive.

I totally agree. This is still one of the top 10 VR games on the Quest 2. The recent maps have been super fun as well!

Glad you got it, you're going to have a ton of fun with it! They should add some kind of lobby you can chat with people before getting in a match or something. Or some 4 player matchmaking would be cool too for a bigger social setting.
There is a very active community on the game's Discord. Plenty of people to play with, and even friendly competition. I run a weekly tournament there, and we are currently getting over 100 players each week!
Now they've added Labyrinth and Myst Island. I bet Solitude and Whiterun would both make wonderful courses. It sounds like people are still locking their VR headsets to their own platforms?

@@darrennew8211 Ah I see what you mean now. You can play with your friends cross-platform, you just need to enter a code to join their lobby, so it's pretty simple. My complaint in the video was that there isn't an intuitive friends list system built into the game, in case you wanted to add someone as a friend just to play Walkabout Mini Golf with.
That's a good question about playing on a single headset. I don't believe they have any system for this, but I haven't played in a couple months.

I think you missed the point for playing multiple people crossplay. by having a private room setting for people to join gets around the problem of having no friend system on VR over multiple systems. Yes, it does mean the players have to type in the name of the private room, but the game stores the last room you played so as long as you don't change the name, friends can quickly join in future games.
I appreciate your input. My point was that the game can be improved, and having an in-game friends list would contribute to this improvement, since it's a bit tedious having to message or call your friend to tell them the name of the room - especially doing this while wearing a VR headset. Don't you think it would be much easier to invite your friends to a game without needing to remove your VR headset to gather information?

If they can get IP from Marvel, Harry Potter, and Avatar, this would be killer app for VR. The only living creature I've seen so far is the sheep so they have the ability to add "animatronics" but personally, I prefer not to have things doing jump scares while I'm trying to play golf.
The possibilities really are endless though. They could add more lively courses.

I love how you used the term "animatronics" for a video game haha. This is something used for movies and television, or just for fun when animating something to look realistic while using robots.
In gaming, this is simply called animations, and it's what will keep this game going, otherwise environments feel empty.
Take a look at their new map, Atlantis. They have animated fish, turtles, whales, and stingrays swimming all around you while you're immersed at the bottom of the ocean. Without the animated fish, the course would feel empty, and it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable. I think the devs are on the right path here, but I still desire a bit more.

It is most definitely worth it. I agree that some animations would be a great additions. Maybe some player hazards (not ball hazards) might be a fun option. But all in all, an amazing game.
It's definitely a game I keep going back to play. It's easily in my top 10 VR games.

I play every day mainly because I am not so good.....yet! I am 67 and convalesing from open heart and total knee replacement! My husband bought this for me to help me focus on getting up and moving. I love it. Now to get good enough so people don't get upset when playing because I am not up to par ( no pun intended!)

This is not a pun, but why do doctors sometimes hit your knee? They get a small kick out of it.
Worth it? Yes yes yes yes . I’ll take some edibles, turn on walkabout and I’m transported into a different dimension. The music on every single course is absolutely perfection, the lighting is time shifting, the courses are out of this world.
A wonderful way to enjoy such a fantastic game.

This is true, but it doesn't always set you up perfectly, and adjustments still need to be made if you're in a tight play space.
@@ThisKory true indeed. I usually pues the trigger to be teleported (while holding the club upwards) and then readjust my position by repositioning in real life. But I might activate the "grip to put" option. Didn't know about it, so thanks!
@@ThisKory There is an option in settings where you can position the ball so that it remains in the center of your play space as long as you use the trigger to teleport.
Got this for $11 on sale this week in the Oculus store - I originally bought Quest 2 for exercise only but this game has broadened my interests! I like that I can move around & not just sit. I have some neck/head pain though, I think from holding my head down so much while playing this & putting all the weight hanging forward. With the extra $$ I saved I plan to buy the extra courses asap! Your review put me over the edge to purchase, btw, thank you!
That's amazing, I'm glad I could help you make a decision to purchase this game! It's a ton of fun, but I have to agree that playing for longer periods may cause some neck discomfort due to the nature of looking downwards while putting. Sometimes, adding a counter-weight on the back of the head strap can help alleviate this issue, but the added weight may make it worse as well, so you would have to experiment with things to see what works best for you.
As for the extra courses, they are well worth it for the price! Thanks for stopping by!

Would VR games on PC be better as far as graphics (and others) over buying/installing from Oculus headset? Would you happen to know the pros and cons of PC Steam VR games vs Oculus games? Thanks in advance
VR games will always look and play better than a standalone headset, because PCVR has much more power to run these games with better graphics and higher framerates to get smoother gameplay.
The only cons to PCVR is that it's more expensive because you need a PC that can run VR, and a PCVR headset will be more expensive than a Quest 2. You can use a Quest 2 for PCVR, but it's not ideal because you get heavy compression if linked via USB. Wireless is an option, but I'd just recommend a PCVR headset if you plan on using PCVR.

There isn't any reason to get nauseous because you're standing still and have teleport options. So if you don't get sick playing something like Job Simulator or Beat Saber, then you won't get sick playing Walkabout Mini Golf.
@ThisKory ok i seen people walking round golf course, i hate being so sensitive to vr on things, rollercoasters nope, re village hell nope, gt7 can do 3 races then break, horzion with string vigenette didnt bother me so much, but alot of things def do

Ghosts and western theme go well together, why else? That isn't my point in the video though. It doesn't have to be ghosts, it can be anything which just makes the environments feel more alive.
