This is where I became a fan of YuiMetal......she was well rested for this! LOL This is the kind of stuff I miss about BABYMETAL.
Fun fact; That studded bracelet that Yui is wearing was the cause of the most notorious wardrobe malfunction in Babymetal history. At the legendary Sonisphere UK festival performance in 2015, in front of about 60,000 people, during the set finale... Ijime, Dame, Zettai... the studs on the bracelet snagged the tulle in Yui's skirt and ripped a long strip of material out of it. Yui had to finish the set with about a yard long strip of her skirt flapping in the wind. After that they dumped the bracelet for one without studs to prevent a repetition.
It was actually her studded glove that caused her red tutu problem. :-)
it is funny how i never noticed it before and now i cant make it unseen when i watched the sonisphere video from Ijime, Dame, Zettai :D

I thought it looked pretty cool flowing in the wind like that, and Yui definitely handled it like an absolute pro. :)
@@0okamino Lol! I don't think Yui and her mates were happy about that. Even at their young ages they were solid professionals, and uncompromising perfectionists. As punishment Koba sent Yui to re-stock the frogs pit! ;-)
Yui oozes cuteness and Moa is so damn badass here. I love how Taka and Toshi let them just do what they do best. I would honestly pay to let Su, Moa and Yui paint my face like that. This is just great stuff. And now billions of SG fans wait for the nendo class tests 2010-1015, so you really should do them (though you already know Yui's "Puff Puff") And yes,the phenomenon Kiss was actually my 1st vinyl back in 1977. My very first LP was actually Kiss Alive II (damn I am OLD!)
Speaking of KISS, if you google KISS & BABYMETAL you will see a pic of them together.
KISS did a collaboration with a J-POP group called Moroimo Clover Z
There 2 moments I love on this show; first 1 is when the girls told their ages, the presenter gasped (LVT talked over the moment) and the 2 guys tease her. The second is the one of men when getting makeup asks Su if she does this often and Su answers "She has never done her own face".
Never get tired of these show from Japan when the girls were in their middle teens.
Do the purple that Jisoo (Blackpink) had for the "Sure Thing" MV.
The more you see them as themselves you love them more .
We love them as performers but when you see them like this the bond between Fans and BabyMetal ģot stronger and now we love them as themseves as well ❤ 🤘🦊🤘

Hey magz that's directly an Akatsuki T-shirt, Akatsuki the song. _Aka_ it's red and _Tsuki_ it is moon, it is that red thing on the back of the girls XD
And how they formed the clubs, they were assigned. Babymetal was already a project in the head of Koba-metal (their manager) even before Sakura Gakuin; Su has mentioned how they first came to her just after they stopped with Karen Girls with an early sample of Doki Doki Morning, probably a year before Sakura Gakuin started. Babymetal was made for Su, she was already a popular child performer. But Yui and Moa were just taken from Sakura Gakuin and put there with her. Su didn't know of metal either when they approached her.
i mean it's not like anyone was holding a gun to their heads. the whole point of sakura gakuin was to try different things, get some experience, and figure out what kind of careers they wanted to have. it's what they were there for.
oh .... there is a few gem about " small Babymetal " when they still in Sakura Gakuin years.

BABYMETAL's producer Koba became aware of Suzuka Nakamoto back when she was a member of the JPop trio Karen Girl's (2008-2009).
At the time, he was thinking about what kind of project could follow up the success of Perfume, one of Amuse, Inc's most popular groups.
He thought that combining JPop/Idol with Metal was the best of the ideas he came up with, and the idea centered around Su and her "no holds back" singing.
He was able to build the BABYMETAL project around her once Sakura Gakuin began in 2010.
Yui and Moa were added to provide "twin-like angels on either side of her."
Like most pre-teen girls in Japan of the time, none of the three were familiar with Metal music when BABYMETAL started.
Hair color: Blue. (I miss Hana from Gacharic Spin's blue hair, so it would be nice see someone cool with blue again.)
As far as the other subunits, the SG girls were able to choose for themselves which ones they joined? Or were they assigned as well?
@@jeffschreifels8651 Pretty sure they have always been assigned. It sounds like everyone was happy to get into a sub-unit. Although everyone was a little jealous of the pajamas that Sleepiece members got to wear. : )
Of course the 1st generation of Mini-Pati were the same girls who were in the group before Sakura Gakuin started.
@@jeffschreifels8651 Of course the "Pro-Wrestling Circle" was created for Hana, and she talked Rinon into joining her.
And the Art Performance Unit "Trico Dolls" was a result of Momoe's sheer force of will.
I'm guessing that staff decided to add Yuzumi and Yume to that group.
@@rickwagner- I vaguely remember someone, Moa??? mentioning wishing she could be in Sleepiece but I am likely remembering wrong. I can never retain these things in my memory until I hear it a few times.

Just a minor correction, it was a Taiwanese variety show, but I think it was actually filmed in Japan (if you're talking about the frog video).

The way I would explain it: they were asked to be in Babymetal, not assigned. Suzuka allegedly said: let's try it, it could be fun.
Yes, the memory loss is real, but obviously not all of it. They especially in the early days put in all their effort doing shows that memory loss does occur.
It's always a bit funny to me when metalheads complain: but they didn't know metal, while many of those same metalheads didn't know metal at that same age as the girls started.
All that being said, I don't know enough about KISS, it was all before my time. But KISS took over the planet ? They've had a lot of influence on well.. alternative culture.
Mainstream acts like Madonna or something like that had far more hits overseas, although probably MTV helped a lot. Different times I guess.
As you can see from these choreography elements and the fox sign these are things the girls came up with. They might not make the songs, etc. But they are involved in the process from an early age.

To answer your question, the members of Babymetal were specifically chosen by Kobametal. Su was chosen for her vocal power and stage presence, and Moa and Yui were chosen for their appearances and compatible voices.
Apart from BM, the process of how the girls are assigned to SG subunits is not quite clear. Based on interviews of the members there seem to be multiple factors, e.g. whether they are not part of a subunit yet, attitude, time for the extra work. There are also cases where subunits are created based on ideas/initiative of a girl, so it's not a simple top down approach. But subunits are an assignment and a privilege because you have more possibilties to show your individuality. And who knows, the subunit might get famous.....
4:08 - The presenter was correct about Yui's "thorny bracelet" being dangerous as, at their first Metal fest outside of Japan, at the UK's Sonisphere 2014, Yui caught the bracelet on her skirt and had to perform the final song, Ijime, Dame, Zettai (IDZ), with a pice of the skirt hanging down for the whole song. Did it stop her or faze her at alol? Hey, this is the girl who fell off the end of the stage at Budokan and was back for the next song so of course it didn't! 🤘🦊🤘🦊
Except that eventually she seems to have hurt her back, may have been performing with a backbrace at the end of her time with Babymetal, and has left BM apparently permanently. Maybe it did "faze" her ultimately.

As for this video of our 3 favorite girls, I absolutely adore them in this TV appearance. Love all 3 but Yui was beyond adorable in this one. Her answers at the beginning were too cute and her yay during the game... too damn cute! Usually Moa shines brightest during these things. (Super Moa!) And of course tons on love to queen Su.
