Guy Williams (1924-1989), originally from a Sicilian Family in New York, was spectacular and fun in Zorro (1957-1959). In 1964, he was among the best possible replacements for Pernell Roberts, who wanted to leave the show, at that time. Pernell changed his mind, and stayed another year, so Guy was dropped, a big mistake, because Pernell did leave a year later, and Guy was no longer available to come back as Will. After doing Lost In Space (1965-1968), Guy Williams retired in Argentina.
All the horses are very well taken care of, and I wondered what it would have been like to have another good looking Cartwright to add to this gracious and beautiful family. More interesting troubles for us to enjoy, ha?

Little Joe's mother Marie Cartwright was Ben's third wife and Clay's mother too. That's how Clay and Little Joe are related to each other. Because they're brothers through their late mother Marie Cartwright Ben's third late wife.

There were plans to have his character replace Adam, because Pernell Roberts was thinking of leaving. However, Roberts decided to stay another year, so the producers married off Guy Williams' character.
Guy Williams, Zorro, acted in five chapters with great success. He was hired to fill in for the announced absence of Pernell Roberts. But this, perhaps moved by jealousy of the immediate acceptance of the character played by Williams (he played a cousin of the Cartwright brothers) decided to stay another year in Bonanza. When Roberts left for good twelve months later, it was too late to bring the former Zorro back.
Will was being considered as a replacement Cartwright being that Perrnel Roberts was not happy in his role. Michael Landon did not like the idea of adding more cast members so Will's character was not developed.
Pernell threatened to leave after season 5 so they brought Guy in to replace him. Pernell ended up staying on for season 6 and then they wrote Guy out of the series after his 5th episode.
That kind of shooting Will Cartwright just did is the kind gun shooting a Cartwright shoots. No man could shoot a gun like those Cartwrights can. And Will definitely proved that when Jenner tried to shoot at Will but instead Will shot Jenner dead. It's like when men are fist fighting each other. The rule of that is wait until the man takes the first punch then other man finishes him off. Same with gun dueling. When a gets his gun out and aims to shoot at the man he's trying to shoot at ends up shooting back at the guy who got his gun out first. And shoots him dead. That's what I mean. Wait until a man draws out his gun first and shoots well tries to shoot and then the other man gets his gun out and shoots him to the ground. And that's exactly what Will Cartwright did to protect himself. He shot Jenner out of self defense only because Jenner was trying to kill him so Will did what a Cartwright does in self defense.
I have so many comments about this movie. About the title; Return to Honor. How fitting !!!, About the the way Hoss’s horse watched Hoss when he walked away from him, like “there goes my man”, And at the end : Five Cartwright men standing tall together and last comment: It’s hard for me to see Robert J Wilke in the role of a good man. In a Bonanza movie 🍿 I watched before he played a dispicable man who was the caregiver of a man in a wheelchair 👨🦼The man was the husband of a beautiful and caring woman 👩 and Robert J Wilke was doing a fine job of making everything she did and everyone any man 👨 she talked to looking suspicious. However, the Cartwright’s stopped him just as he was about to get the husband to turn everything in his will to him instead of to his wife. 😊😊
I understand why Will wants to be alone. I wouldn't live with my uncle and cousins just because I've become an orphan. A person can't live alone but living with your relatives isn't wise. Besides, being alive here on Earth for a long time, who would ever say that's a blessing? Nobody wants to have anything to do with old people. I'm sure I'm wrong. thats a great idea. there is a book series that I love and I found a guys blog on it. he does stats for each book and of course for the entire series. he kept track of kills, what cars and trucks were named, how long it took the main character to call the female interest "darling" etc... doing something like that for all these shows would be great. its too bad that so much of the things they used on set were stock because it would have been interesting if they had been allowed more variation and choices.
Do you remember how many of those men, supposedly murdered by the Cartwright family were good men? How many were, workers, families men? Do you remember how many of these men were quietly sleeping at their beds or maybe taking care of their homes and families, when suddenly one of the Cartwrights came in to kill them? Just curiosity.
Just as intriguing is how many times the Cartwrights were shot, and the times they had a noose around their necks. Those men just could not stay out of trouble.

What should have Joe done in that situation? In 1860 would it be legal for him to shoot first? Or 1960 audiences wouldn't like that? Silly that Butler lifts his gun because that guarantees that he gets shot by Joe in self-defense. If he stayed cool, he would simply remind Joe that there's a gun trained on everyone one of his family members, so if he shoots then most of them won't make it out alive. Butler could tell his men to keep their eye on their mark and to shoot if any of them move. Joe reminds Butler that he'll never get the plates if he kills Will. Butler then calls to the guy on the roof to shoot Joe. Joe can risk death by taking time to shoot Butler, raise his gun to shoot the guy on the roof, or hide, with mayhem breaking out any of those choices. Alternatively, instead of shouting, Joe could have tried a distraction by sending horses out of the barn, or throwing something from the roof. I think that it would have been most interesting if Joe crowed like a chicken or something, which causes Hoss to look up. Joe gives hand signals to Hoss and they arrange to move on a count of three but three is a gunshot. Joe aims at the gun or shoulder of Butler. Hoss quietly tells Ben & Adam "Don't look up. Dive when you hear Joe fire. Joe aims, raises finger 1, finger 2, grips the gun and fires, blowing the gun out of Butler's hand as his brothers dive and pull their guns. After the gunfight, Will hands Butler the plates saying "We were on our way to give these to the Sheriff but I think we can let you have that honor." Then the Cartwrights all laugh as Butler unwraps it and sees the bullet holes.
I know it was TV but when Ben used his range boss voice you felt as if he was a man that was used to having his directions followed and quick! The Cartwright's are terrible at using cover in a gun fight though.
The producers let the actors run things and ran him off. Then they still had to find an Adam replacement 3 years later - Candy who, like Will, brought some much needed action to the show.

Little Joe and Hoss (Eric) are playing "Checkers"! Little Joe's double-stacked game pieces are "kings" which allows them to move in any diagonal direction. Hoss' last piece was "unkinged" meaning it could only move diagonally forward. Little Joe has Hoss' piece surrounded! If Hoss moved his checker, Little Joe's pieces would "jump over" his and remove it from the board - winning the game!

6:38 how’d they bale those bales back then? 😮
Guy Williams as Will Cartwright.
Ahh Will Cartwright the son of John Cartwright and Ben's nephew and Adam,Hoss and Little Joe's cousin.

I’m constantly fascinated with the guy drawing first but seems to hesitate and gets killed. It could be the editing but...
Does anyone else think that little joe sounds just like Michael j fox?
Danger danger will cartwright
LOL! Hilarious.."That does not compute!"
At 3:38, the actor could have done a better job of playing being dead. He kind of helped Wil by moving his right arm after de died.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
the closed captions on this are terrible!
Guy Williams shoulod had stayed on the series...
Todas las películas de me gustan
Pernell was ungrateful, he spoke ill of prosperity when he had to be grateful to the series that made him known, after he left he did something but I didn't see it, I wasn't interested at all
What game are they playing?
Little Joe and Hoss (Eric) are playing "Checkers"! Little Joe's double-stacked game pieces are "kings" which allows them to move in any diagonal direction. Hoss' last piece was "unkinged" meaning it could only move diagonally forward.
Little Joe has Hoss' piece surrounded! If Hoss moved his checker, Little Joe's pieces would "jump over" his and remove it from the board - winning the game!
@@MGTOWPaladin Thank you well done in explaining.👍😊
@@christinestephens37 You're very welcome! I did not know how familiar you were with the game so I tried to be as thorough as possible in my explanation.
Well, call the cops so they can chase the guy and find him, faster in a car to go after him,why they didn't call 911 for the guy shot??
Why did the doctor helped a murderer? Thats doesnt make sense. He should hand him to the sheriff
