As an oilers fan what a run by Edmonton. Florida is an amazing team and I'm sad to see Edmonton lose but DAMN worst team in November to 1 win away from the cup
TBH. All the Edmonton series had everything you wanted in a Stanley cup run except win. Even goin to a game seven in the final down 3 was epic and heroic. I thought it was unbelievable and We will get the cup next year. What a run!!
as a 19yr old whos been an oilers fan all my life this run was so special the amount of times we were down and out in this playoff run was unbelievable we were so close🔵🟠🔵🟠#hopewillneverdie
I just turned 9 years old when I started watching hockey on october 9th, 2011. Being a born and raised Edmontonian, I naturally chose the oilers to watch (that was the day nuge scored his first goal). There was a lot of dark years. I didn't think I would see the day that we'd make a run like this. Which just makes it more painful. But I'm proud.
Many Dark years... now if we make it far again in the playoffs we only need to look back to last season instead of the 06 run... heartbreaking to see them so close... I wish our goal scorers could have made more of a push
That makes us the exact same age! Liked hockey as a kid, got back into it just in time for the 2017 run and my dad being an Edmontonian told me I should root for the Oilers, and I never looked back
I am fucking proud of this team, what they have done. Crying since the end of the Game. They are the best for me. Anyway, Florida deserves the Cup, but it hurts so much. Getting up at 3:00 AM 100 times a year to watch them, and at the end see this beautiful team losing by 1 goal in the game-decider to the biggest trophy in sports. They are the best and I am so proud of them. We will be back and we will win this next year. Oilers 🧡💙
As an oilers fan what a run by these guys. We were as close to the cup you could get without winning it. Game 7 loosing by 1 goal. Also back in round 1 everyone looks like a baby without their playoff beards haha
I wasn't an Oilers fan yet back in 2006, but this run felt like my very own version of that year. A historic run, so much excitement and suspense, so much happiness after every win, and a truly heartbreaking finish in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final after a heroic comeback from a big series deficit. Only difference between those two seasons is that this time around, our guys are going to finish the job and bring that Cup home to Canada the next season (this coming season)!! LET'S GO OILERS!! Bring on 2024-25, baby!
I started watching in the Dallas series but Jesus Christ what a run, makes me sad we didn’t win with how much heart we had but we’re getting there, we will get the cup.
Unfortunately, having both McDavid (abdominal injury) and Draisaitl (broken finger and ribs) injured most likely stopped Edmonton and us from seeing a truly dominant level and series from both of them tbh. Leon wasn't hitting his signature one timers, Connor was barely shooting, always looking to pass and his shot was off all year. If this series was done all over again with both healthy, Edmonton wins in 6 IMO. Drai also needs wingers for him, but the Oilers should be favorites next year
So the Panthers were just 'slouches' then? The Panthers deserved to be in the Finals too, & they got it done in Game 7 no matter how much people didn't want the Panthers to win. The Panthers WERE the better team here. The Oilers were just a fraction shy of that. Maybe they'll get it done next season though.
@@ckendall67 Never said the panthers were slouches. But they got destroyed in three games with the cup in the building and barely won game 7 even with the oilers just having terrible puck luck. They definitely weren’t the better team in the finals.
@@TrueMr.Quinn1 Getting outscored 19-7 in four games with a chance to win the cup is good? Game 7 it was clear to anyone with eyes that the panthers were holding on for dear life and Bobrovsky really bailed them out.
@@conorwreckoner I'd put my money down on the Oilers getting back to the Cup Final, if not next year then maybe 2026. They will be SO fueled & motivated by the sting of Game 7 that they will definitely have it as their mission to get back to the Final & get it done. The Panthers did it, losing in the Cup Final last year & coming back to win this year, pretty sure the Oilers are capable of doing the same.
And they had the bitter pill of losing in the Cup Final a year ago & didn't want to feel that way again this year. Kinda like the Oilers right now, a bitter pill that should fuel them for next season. Nobody here would be shocked to see them get back to the Cup Final & maybe win it. As the Panthers showed us, it can be done.
