- #Keybored #mechanicalkeyboard Welcome to Keybored! I UPGRADED the CHEAPEST $15 Mechanical Keyboard in the world - E-Yooso K620
Some time ago, I ran a poll to ask the viewers... What do you want to see me do? The overwhelming ask was "buy the cheapest keyboard and make it good." So I did just that... Browsing through various sites, I came across this gem (or monstrosity, however you want to call it) on Amazon for $25 minus $10 coupon... so $15... How can a hot-swap mechanical keyboard be $15? Is it good? Is it trash? Can I keep my track record going, or will I be defeated? Let's find out!
I also created a Discord Server so check it out!

Channel name says Key"bored" but I am Key"excite" by this video
Haha thanks! Have to convince the overlords that the channel wasn't a spelling error lol. Great song by the way! Hope you have the full album soon!
Damn hipiyo that pun sucked
😐
😅
damn that was cringe
Honestly I think that molding budget boards is one of the best ways to get into the custom mech hobby. There is such good value boards out there and its pretty easy to do.
Agreed. Did the works on a Redragon K556 and while time consuming, I felt it improved the board A TON. No more ping and it sounds like a better board than some 50$ budget... Heh.
It's a great way to dabble without going too deep :)
That's why I love his video even on the Keychron Q1. You can make a lot of keyboards under $200 sound incredible. There's significant diminishing returns when you start spending more and more in this hobby.
I own an E-Element Z88 and it's my first custom mechanical, or at least sort of, since this is the board I learned a lot from as I've gotten new switches, keycaps, tried different mods like holee foam and tape mod, as well as lubing the switches, so yes, modding a budget board is a hell of a gateway drug.
@@RaisinBarXZ550 yo bro can you send the link to the keyboard
Every bad keyboard you touch literally turns into gold. It sounds good!
:) Thank you RimuKora! Glad that this keyboard sounded good!
Decent is an understatement...
"DECENT"
i have realized i said an understatement after watching more videos therefore i have edited my comment
Vghbhuhi
I think it's less that the keyboard is cheap (though $15 for any hotswap board IS a pretty good deal) and more that GMK sets are wildly expensive lol
Haha, another way to look at it!
@@Keybored This board is exactly the redragon k552 but different case
As far as I know, the E-Yooso and Redragon has the Same ODM. This is basically a Redragon K552 but cheaper.
Those Akko switches really changed the ball game and made the Boards with Outeumu hot-swap sockets much more feasible option for the beginners
Ok, thanks
:) Yeah the Akko switches are also actually pretty good even stock!
@@Keybored indeed. Wanting to see the new double bump tactile Switches they just released!
I have the redragon k552 and I’m disappointed, I should’ve bought this keyboard
I have a 552, The plate is different, it doesn't have that side rgb strip and you can opt for full rgb, Also the newly produced ones have a different font on the keycaps wich is a lot less gamer-y. but yes they are pretty similar
I heard that sound test and I was like "No." mad props. Might have to get me one of these
It's so crazy how much you can improve something that starts off at $15... keep an eye out on the amazon store and the price fluctuates like crazy
@@Keybored this sounded amazing, I expected the sound to improve but not to this extent, the first THOCK really got me
The word thock is overrated
@@zanaisu didnt ask
The video I’ve been waiting for 🙌🏻
:) Hope it was worth the wait!
Bro, the memories are flooding back. I used to watch your Black Ops 2 videos, crazy seeing you here.
Can't wait to see Scott make thing sound better then my endgame 😭👍

I really enjoy you modding really cheap stuff like this. You should really consider more content like this!!
:) Thank you Dave! Will try to balance out my content for wider coverage :)
As usual you made this keyboard sound like a dream. The design of this board and keycaps really resembles the Reddragon K552. When I had that board originaly i bought a super cheap USB-C daughterboard and used black sugru to make a removeable UB cable port! So if someone wanted to try that, it definately works!
That is a great suggestion! Then you can really elevate this even further!
As a keyboard noob, can you explain what a black suguru is and how you used it to make the port? Or a little overview of the process? I'm hoping to turn this keyboard into my first project and would love more ideas and things to try with it!
I've just been getting back into keebs recently and god I just love your videos so much - no bloat, no filler, just content. I get my Boba U4Ts and Keychron Q1 in a few days and I hope I can make it sound as good as you did in your modding tutorial from last week
Thanks cstill! I really hope the Q1 turns out amazing! From my experience with it, it is one phenomenal keyboard in terms of what it's able to offer at its pricepoint :)
Absolutely amazing job on this, it sounds pretty damn great. Well done!
Thank you Mike! I appreciate it
Great video. The keyboard sounds great. I think this will be my starting point to get into the custom keyboard hobby. Thank you.
:) You're very welcome!
wallet drained pog
I am genuinly impressed by your modding skills, Keep it up!
Thank you so much!
This is the real beginners step to getting into customising keyboards. Well done.
I just found this channel and watched a bit of videos and this channel is criminally underrated, your content and format is really nice and entertaining to watch! You got my sub!
Thank you so much for the sub Rust! I really appreciate it!
Wish you'd have gone with lubing and filming the stock switches to keep the cost down and "work with that you got."
Good video.
I actually did do that as the middle step... unfortunately, the audio didn't record for some reason so I ended up having to scrap that portion :( The work with what you got actually works pretty well
@@Keybored sorry to hear about that :( Video was solid regardless.
Bruh wth!?!? I just uploaded a video on this yesterday! Talk about timing! Love the vids Scott ❤
Thank you NIDEKO! Hope yours turned out great also!
Awesome video, I subscribed because of this. I'm trying to mod keyboards as a new hobby. I've learned something new today! Thank you!
I think this would look even more stealthy with blank or side-labeled keycaps. Loved the modded sound!
video idea: cheapest mechanical keyboard with the most expensive mods. It would be interesting to see a GMK set that costs 9x the boards price on it xD
Haha I thought of putting a GMK set on this but it just seemed so out of place due to the price difference lol
Stock actually doesn’t sound bad, aside from the hollow pingy ness
still sounds better than a stock razer HUNTSMAN V2
@@trailfork7815 damn can I upvote this 9000 times
@@trailfork7815 I am pretty sure you can read minds. I was thinking the same thing
@@trailfork7815 T R U E
:) It's a good keyboard for the price, and with a bit of TLC, it got much better!
Amazing transformation !
I'm enjoying your vids on these much cheaper boards. There are a lot of us who can't afford the other "budget" boards that get suggested ($100+ is not my idea of "budget" but that's because I'm poor, but $15-$40? Yep, that's more my "budget" lol). I might have to try a few things on my own cheap board and see if I can get it to sound better. (Tezarre TK61 with Optical Blacks). Great videos, and I'm glad Hipyo suggested I find your vids and sub.
Scott is G.O.A.T. of keybored modding hands down.
If he were a ghost whisperer, I am sure he will make them ghost thocky even while they float above the ground :)
Good job as always!
Thank you so much IronCan88! I really appreciate the comments and support! I just hope that the video shows that pretty much all keyboards are capable of being modded :)
This is the exact reason why I love this hobby so much, turning trash into treasure with some creativity and modding 😭
But everything you did was throwing money into the keyboard. It's $15 in the beginning but after all these mods, buy switches, keycaps. I'm pretty sure it's not that cheap after all
Well it’s all relative. Of course adding budget switches, keycaps, and extra mods like foam and o-rings would increase the cost but it’s still relatively cheaper versus something like a pre-built from Razer or Corsair. (And I would argue that it wouldn’t feel or sound as good)
While you are investing more money into a keyboard and adding more cost than the keyboard itself, it’s just really fascinating how some simple modding can make a $15 keyboard feel and sound way better than a $15 keyboard should.
@@trongnguyenduy4154 the switches are like 10 dollars a set,
after everything he did its more or less around 50 dollars, it sound like a high end keyboard for 50 dollars, compared to mainstream like razer, it doesnt even get close
@@trailfork7815 sure but the fact that all the extra stuffs cost more than the stock keyboard it's self really annoyed me
Wow dude, I did not expect it to sound that good! Amazing! Great content bro
:) Thank you Ben!
Whoa, this video is awesome! I've been looking into making a custom mechanical keyboard at a low price (it's more fun and wallet-saving when you work within constraints ;) ) and I had spent hours trying to grapple with the 50-ish price tag on other budget keyboards until I found this! I might try it out :D
Glad it was helpful! Good luck!
imo a different profile keycap wouldve sounded nicer, but damn this sounds better than some high-ends I've heard lmfao
:) I could have thrown some SA on there and probably would have been more thocky :)
@@Keybored agree! why not try the 20$ GSA profile keycaps on the keyboard hehe
Dang, did not expect this much value out of just 15$
I didn't think that anyone could actually make money by selling a keyboard with all these features for $15 with free shipping haha... I feel like the shipping cost is half of that!
@@Keybored perks of cheap labour!
Lmao jk but also kinda true...
First time modding keyboard here. Following what you did but using akko cream yellow. The result is amazing! Thanks for the video!
Just got this model to do exactly this, so thanks for sharing your far-superior knowledge. Going to mimic what you do here.
:) I hope the video is helpful! Good luck with the build!
Howd it turn out?
Despite the price, it sounds awesome. Great job man! Sleeper enthusiast build
Thank you zandkeyboards!
I got a different model called EYooso Z88, it was 21 dollars on amazon. For that price I had no problem with the switches or sound of the board. But after trying to use it, it felt off, and I found out it's 62.5Hz polling rate.. Which is really bad. Idk if the K620 is the same in this regard, but I am skeptical since it's the same maker and similar or less price. You can upgrade pretty much everything on the Z88 and it'll still be very bad for gaming. So I think it's a waste of time and money swapping the switches or trying to improve it much. It's alright for 20 bucks or less but just save up for something better in the meantime.
This is absolutely nutso! Never expected a hyper budget keeb to sound this good ever.
That sounds so good! Great job!
Thank you so much Zyidas!
Proof that you can make generic cherry style plate mounted stabs sound good if modded correctly. And good thing the keeb is compatible with Akko switches, they are amazing for the price.
They really are!
which Akko switch?
@@Lenevor Doesn't matter lol. All of their switches are the same price except for their jelly series which are like 2 bucks more on average.
I recommend getting them on Amazon and not off their website because after shipping it will be more off their site.
Today: the keyboard community finaly realizes that literally everything in this hobby is INSULTINGLY overpriced
If only that meant it'd bring prices as a whole down substantially. I see these vids of folks posting "budget" builds at 300$ and i go... @_@ whaaaaaat.
:) I feel that as the hobby grows and more and more players jump it, the prices will also go down. It's so surprising now that you can actually find GMK keycap sets available without jumping on a GB for 2 years
@@CodeXCDM true, idk what they meant by "budget" while they cost more lmao
@METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS agreed. I have a cheap Redragon K556, and a few basic changes improved it a ton. Foam/Tape and switch film removed the ping. Lube made it smoother. PBT caps were nice to add. Caps aside, lube and film are like, 15$. Foam can readily be found in packing, and blue tape is readily available. There are cheap 10$ PBT caps on Amazon, but they're minor and not needed unless you hate the glossy look of stock ABS.
@METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS the jump from a plastic keyboard to an aluminum case is what actually makes the price different worth it, imo. there is just something different and premium about a metal case, both the weight and the sound it produces. no matter how many mods you make to a plastic board, it still just sounds like plastic. and it's great that metal boards like the akko mod series, gmmk pro and keychron q1 are being released that make it more affordable to get close enough to that premium feeling for under 200 bucks. but paying 500 bucks for a custom polycarb case is just nonsense.
You nailed it again and again! Damn!
Thanks Elgene! I really appreciate it!
You made this thing sound incredible dude, GGs
Thank you so much Jared! I appreciate it!
Ah yes
You're first!

:) Thank you so much!
I've seen a couple of time this cheap keyboards otemu hotswap pcb's and i've never heard them sound good, great job
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Been watching this more times than I should be. Though I'm not sensible enough in the hobby to do most of these mods yet, I have to ask. Since majority of these cheap boards use a North Face configuration, would you bring a topic on which keycap profiles work with this? Also, what profile are those PBT keycaps?
This video is the definition of
If you put enough love into your keyboard, it’ll most likely sound amazing. The fact he took a 15$ keyboard, new switches and a few mods and boom. It sounds amazing. I bet you could also make it look amazing with other mods like painting the case, new key caps and stuff like damn. I just bought my first keyboard to mod
And I already feel like buying this one when the other one hasn’t even arrived 😂 I’m about to drop more money on a hobby I haven’t even started yet
:) welcome to the hobby! It's a crazy rabbit hole, but it's also really fun... Also has a lot of interesting people in it as well haha. But you are very correct! Any and every keyboard, regardless of the price point does definitely benefit from some modding or another... because everyone has a preference, and you can always tailor the tool to meet that!
This might be superficial but I subscribed during that typing session. If that's in every video then I'll be watching them all 👍🏿

Hey Keybored, nice video, it sounded really good! I found your channel from someone's keyboard description mentioning about Keybored's O-ring mod :)
If you have a Tecware Phantom 87 TKL in the future, please make a video on how to mod to make it sound better :)
Thank you so much! Glad you found the channel through my TOFU video :) If I get my hands on one of those, will do!
At first, I thought "ugh that is disgusting" but after your magic, it became "🥵", a disgustingly amazing sound profile. What a glow up!

@@Keybored You helped me find a decent keyboard which is good!
Wpuld love to hear it with a PE foam mount.
I also just finished upgraded my cheap $17 ajazz tkl keyboard with akko cs ocean blue and pbt keycaps. Foam inside the case and between the pcb, also tape mode & stabilizer mode. It made whole world different, no more stupid rattle space bar and weird gamery keyboard sound.

Thank you so much Raphael. And to think it comes from a $15 keyboard!
I got a very similar keeb but this one had a detachable usb-c cable, 2 layers of foam (poron and pe), and a steel mounting plate. It's a Zhiyoulang K87 TKL which has a few configurations, but I got the cheapest one.
The most classic black keyboard and modde love the vid

$15 keyboard?! Then I heard the pre and post mod sound tests - I cannot help myself but to upvote 👍
:) Thank you! I appreciate the support!
NO WAY. Thanks for the tip!
You're welcome!
Hey Keybored! That's a good video. I want to ask if you can replace the plate foam on the pcb for the pe foam ?
Just scooped this for 15$ too, excited to see what I can do with it haha
:) Good luck! It has good potential!
I got the same one. Won't take Kailh switches as the legs are too wide, so I slapped some Outemu snap spring switches into it and put on a set of Quisan mac-like caps (Cherry profile) and it works pretty well. Not as well as my modded Alps board, but better than most MX boards I've done. For a base, even though it's not hot-swappable, I'd recommend the Velocifire TKL02. It's about $28 but is a lot heavier, less cheap feeling and has a nice, thick metal mounting plate.
Thank you for the suggestion! Will have to see what the velocifire unit is all about
Let me just apriciate that he got all of the switches out from outemu hot-swap socet. I had one keyborad with those and MAN THEY ARE HARD TO SWAP
:) Had to use 3 different pullers for different rows
Holy shit, I have not the same keyboar but it uses almost the same board, thanks for this!! I was looking for something do do with it!!!

That Outemo-only compatability is such a frustrating roadblock with this, haha. Regardless, really cool mod!
:) But since the Akko switches work, it wasn't as bad :)
Damn you beat me from making this kind of video! Guess I'll focus on the aspect of making the cheapest custom keyboard at under 60 dollar or something 🤣🤣🤣
:) I hope more keyboards like this become available!
For $12.59 I recently bought 60% Mechanical Keyboard that is hot swappable and it came with PBT pudding keycaps with Outemu red switches. After I got the keyboard I did a lube job on the switches and mod the stabilizers on the keyboard. That's all I did to the keyboard and oh boy did it help it sounds awesome now.
No waayyy this is crazyy!
:) I thought it was crazy when I saw the price at $15... I thought there is no way this is $15 haha
Thank q man....i just recently buy this keyboard to start a journey mekanikal keyboard stuff 🤣..this vid help a lot if i gonna mod it.

It's really odd actually... the box says outemu blues but I received reds instead. I'm not complaining lol
the dry pen ink is killing me
The funniest part about this video is that even stock this board sounds better than razer
:) It's not a bad keyboard
Great video! What's your color preference on the CS switches?
Hmm I tried the green and blue so far. I was thinking of picking up some of the new colors like white and red, but realized that they're short travel so didn't :) i do want to try the purple ones tho. I feel like it'll be a more tactile blue
Purchased a bunch of parts for my first mech build last week (GMMK Pro, FR4 plate, Aqua Kings, ect.)... and this vid is giving me buyers remorse lol.

I got one of these too (but in the white version) but think yours definitely came out better than mine lol
:) hope it shows the potential!
I am 99.8% sure this is a rebranded Redragon K552, pretty fun to think about it

I have a version of this in white, swapped the Outemu's of Radiant Reds by Akko (lubed) and lubed the stock stabs, as well as adding case foam, and converting it to Detachable USB-C, and it's currently one of my favorite boards and the space bar does THOCC.

How did you close the case with all that stuff in it? I can get the case closed but can't get the switches fully in because the pcs is too close to the plate.
