Something I learned from working on a farm years ago was that pumpkins LOVE cattle manure. My employer piled the manure in a heap on sloping concrete where the effluent could drain into the field, and planted pumpkin seeds in the pile.

Thanks for another great video Jim. Backing the spreader in the barn was beautiful, those horses back so well together Tell your wife we’d like to see how her garden is doing. Your corn field must be head high by now.
Always makes my day when I see you have produced a new video and can’t wait to watch.
Happy Birthday to your great mother and I thank her for raising a great son. Too bad you didn’t take us along on your visit so we could all meet your mother, maybe next time.

May I ask what you think about mules ?
Back in 1927 my grandfather was a good road man in Texas and all he used was big mules he worked all over Texas back then so he said mules will out work a horse and they live longer .
I a old man now at the end of my road to life .
I enjoy watching you work your horses so much .
    Thank you and God bless

Don't worry about taking time off Jim. Everybody needs a change of pace from time-to-time. Being head of the household, you have to make sure you keep dating your wife, and plan getaways for the both of you from time-to-time. Happy Birthday to your Mom. My Mom just turned 86 on July 6th. Loved the way you backed up the manure spreader with the horses. A lot of people have a hard time doing that, when they are using a tractor. We had manure spreaders about that size when I was growing up. We pulled ours with an Allis Chalmers WC and WD. You definitely had to figure out which way the wind was blowing, or you would get covered in manure in no time. Our manure was usually a little on the sloppy side.

Good day Interesting video. You know yrs. ago spreaders had 3 beater with wide spread. They stop went to 2 beaters. now they are building 400 t bushel spreader with vertical beater because it makes a nicer, finer spread , just like the old ones did. Yea liquid manure is crazy on grass. Our neighbour done it with pig manure boy 0 boy balers were just hammering. We had our 273 and neighbour had 273. I think he got about 140bales /acre. Anyways happy birthday Jim's mom. My parents are both gone. Yes miracles do happen. Thanks

My Grandfather was a well known teamster here in north central Wyoming. The predominant harvest was sugar beets. Very laborious animal and human wise. He taught me a lot of things with teams, however not enough. He also did some things I would now change
He would gather the reins around the outside hame to put away. Your example is to gather around the inside britchin. I like it.
Wish we lived closer. I'd come visit for a day or two - we could swap some true lies.
    Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

I think the horses were showing off to the camera when they were reversing as we have a saying over here in Australia , “centre metre perfect” for this pair. Nice to watch indeed.
Jim ! I enjoy the way you use the old methods with the new to keep the equilibrium on the farm and sawn wood production going forward.
I do know how much it takes to make these videos. I do have a channel also called GaryPArmstrong.
I think you and your family are so lucky to have what you have all got.
When I heard you say basswood, I do believe that is a very easy wood to carve and you American people seem to have a lot of it in your country.
I do wood carving but the wood I use is pretty tough and see carvers use this wood a lot in America when carving. Lucky wood carvers of America!
