Speed 400 for me, hands down. I’m an older rider, and the KTM is too flashy and angular for me. Dealer network and proximity is a clincher for me, as well: I’m in the USA, with a Triumph dealership mere blocks away from me!
The looks of the big plastic shrouds on the Duke are debatable. There for practical reasons, don't know exactly what, but must be something to do with wind/air deflection. Kind of angled like the MotoGP winglets for extra downforce at the front... not sure that's necessary in this category of motorcycling. Anyone else know the full function of these shrouds?
@powerdriftofficial I'm a little undecided what I think about them. I don't love them, don't hate them. This bike sounds almost perfect for the category. My only little gripe is the overall weight. It's only 15-20kg lighter than the 790, but 25-30kg heavier than the Honda CB300r. Ok, the Duke's engine is over 100cc larger and produces an extra 14bhp over the Honda. But I'm just not sure if it compensates quite enough for the extra weight. If I'm handling 170kg, I'm wanting a bigger bike than a 400 single. Part of buying a single is for that reduced weight. And that punchy torque from the thumper benefits too. I wouldn't think twice about buying the Duke 390 if the weight was reduced to 155, ideally 150, but that might be asking slightly too much. The Herald Brute 500 (450cc) weighs 143kg (dry). That is a more expensive bike but the Duke still shouldn't be 170kg.
@@wolfpackpete6408 this is the reason why I am attracted to the cb300r myself. At 146 kgs, it seems perfect for zipping around town. Even with its lower capacity engine, it probably manages to keep up with a 390 up until the 100 kmph mark easily.
@NatrajChaturvedi I had a CB300r briefly earlier this year. Ok, I barely used it for various reasons. It was kind of nice but I didn't even get it run-in. I bought it for my delivery job which I'm barely doing anymore. For town work, a Forza 300 is faster and much more comfortable and easier for u-turns. I completely understand why people would prefer a geared bike. I like the idea of geared bikes better. They are mostly better. The CB300 floated over potholes and bumps in the road far better than the Forza! But a scooter is still better overall for town driving, and there's no way my CB300R would match my Forza 0-50/60mph!!! A video should be done. CB300R vs Duke390. Another thing I felt from the little use I made of my CB300R, is that it didn't want to rev to the redline. Maybe because it was new and not run-in? While this Duke apparently wants to rev hard. So maybe the Duke will be faster, assuming the rider works the engine the way it's designed to.
@@wolfpackpete6408 Thanks for sharing your experience. I am from India and our road conditions are different than yours but still you have given me some food for thought and I may chose a different machine now (Honda is gonna launch Forza 300 soon here as well) when I make the final call on what to buy. Altho I personally am the kind of person who would rather have a gear motorcycle than a gearless scooter. Still I get why some would prefer a scooter over a motorcycle and to each their own I guess.

Just like the reviewers said in the above video for the speed 400. But i guess the compro is also very simple. Go for the duke 250 if you want better tech or you wish to visit the tracks regularly. Get the speed 400 if you want to own a bigger capacity bike and yet have a comfortable regular city rides and decent highway experience.
Yes but perf figures! Lets discount the cost factor with this one.
I would like to see how RTR 310 compares between the two. Actually I think it's a mixture of both.
The RTR is full of features. But the engine isn't as strong.
KTM spilt orange paint can intentionally while deciding colors for the duke 390.
Orange is the brand theme literally. Maybe too much orange with the new one.
KTM affordable for service and spares (could be avoided)
Aayein?
@@powerdriftofficial yes not affordable than Bajaj or Yamaha spares
Sad its only 16 min, I can watch this video whole day
❤️❤️❤️
Varun sir smiling as always gives me hint for the recreation of Ali bhai scene is comin😂
Bwahahahha! Maybe! Maybe not!
As you guys said in start santra ya saveb... It nice to have the option
Absolutely
Looks at the camera guys 🤧 who you talking to?
The primary cam! But we have heard your feedback.
@@glitchfyre5188Do consider me as well 😅. I love the Moto Guzzi longitudinally mounted v twin engines. And the new Stelvio is definitely a looker, specially compared to the last gen.
If you are single buy duke.. if u have a gf get the triumph 😁
Hahahaha!
@@powerdriftofficial more like if you *are single* get a Duke, if you want to *become* single, buy a Duke just as well.
Man you are whole next level ❤
I am waiting for scrambler 400
That’s another good bike
Network of service and sales centre is going against Speed 400
We replied to the second comment :D
After a v long time
Fantastic video with gud content
Welcome back 😊
Thank you so much 😀
still asking for a comparison between speed 400 and cb300r
Not happening anytime soon. Honda does not have a media unit.
gen 1 owners will not like gen 2, gen 3 and gen 2 will not like gen 3. that's how human's think😁
Kare to kare kya?
@@powerdriftofficial was speaking about Karan's liking @8:06
I don't like the triumph speed exhaust design I like scramblers exhaust
Fair enough!
you can put the same as the scrambler as an option. i've ordered it as such and will receive next quarter (First ones for French market)
Where is the drag race between Apache 160 4vand Xtreme 4v ? It was supposed to get uploaded on Sunday???
This Saturday!
Plz...tell that editor to skip his meme job here. I'm already enjoys your videos. No need to put those memes.
Exactly.
One gripe i have with video ... The music suddenly comes up and overall sound flow is disturbed... Music should be on par with sound level in entire video... Problem with all power drift videos
Apologies!
Yeah. Am too 6'. Slightly it goes rowards rightside. But its the correct balanced one
Speed 400 for me, hands down. I’m an older rider, and the KTM is too flashy and angular for me. Dealer network and proximity is a clincher for me, as well: I’m in the USA, with a Triumph dealership mere blocks away from me!
@Powerdrift can you please add in bike reviews about headlight throw.
We can do that yes.
Is it what now being called journalism? Sounds more like sales department.
VP and KS liked both! And they are fantastic motorcycles.
Booked Speed 400 over RTR 310
Just considering the practicality and riding experience.
Please give your opinion on my decision.
Ridden both, Speed 400 feels more refined and there are less vibes
Do what you love man
I'm also considering speed 400 but I'm worried about servicing since dealership is not available here in jabalpur
Where do you live
Most sensible decision 👍
Great video! Need a video comparing 390 Adv vs Himalayan 450!!
Not that but something with the Himmy is coming soon.
Duke looks like the moon god khonsu from moon knight
We had to Google that one.
I'm glad to hear that a PD video about the Africa Twin 2023 will be rolling out soon.🥳🥳
Hahahahha! Well played :D
Ofcourse! Looks are subjective anyway. With what we know, they are form over function for now.
@powerdriftofficial I'm a little undecided what I think about them. I don't love them, don't hate them.
390 duke design is 🥵
Its a mix bag!
I’m riding a speed twin 1200 and seriously downsizing to one these days, I tried the scrambler 400x found it absolutely awful 😞 nice chat gentleman have you convinced me ?
From a 1200 to a 400, anyone will find it awful :P
gen 1 and gen 3 looks beautiful
True that
Duke 250 vs CBR 300R is what I want #PD style...
No media unit from Honda. Also CB300R?
