Great upgrade! Would a piece of bungee cord be a tight enough fit to hold the pipe in place? Or does it really have to be "bolted down" like it is now? Not sure how much force is involved once you run it. But if (elastic) bungee cord would be enough you could fold a piece over (so you have two loose ends on one side and a loop on the other), screw down the two loose ends on one side of the board, take the loop over the tube and have a screw / hook on the other side of the board to hook the cord over. Would make (dis-)assembly trivial.
A shop vac that has a blower port in it. They can be used to blow air or produce vacuum depending gmo. Which port you use. Most shop vacs have this ability, but not all.
