The Murders of Dellen Millard : Laura Babcock & Tim Bosma - The Fifth Estate

  • Dellen Millard was a rich kid who stood to inherit millions from his father's aviation business. But he was into self gratification - the kind that came from throwing wild parties and engaging in petty crimes like robbery and drug-dealing. And into his life walked Laura Babcock, an impressionable young woman and an aspiring actress. The deeper she got drawn into Millard's web, the more dangerous it became. In the summer of 2012, Laura Babcock disappeared, never to be seen again. Last month Millard was convicted of killing her, just as he had been previously of murdering a young man named Tim Bosma...This is the story of the murderous ways of Dellen Millard.

    So, the Police are liable for the death of Tim Bosma. They knew Mallard was a murderer but decided not to act. They have blood on their hands by deciding not to act and arrest this man.

      I am tired of police who are paid by tax payers discount anyone who goes missing that has issues of " high risk" lifestyle! Drugs, mental health, escorts... feigna 2711 thank you for saying that! This is the reason a lot of women don’t seek help when they are having issues. They stay quiet and then it becomes too much for them and they get into trouble, only to be judged again. It is sad that police do not see the value of a human life if the person has a past.

    I wonder why it is that nobody ever nails the cops for the fact that 'she's high risk' doesn't translate to 'start looking NOW'.. doesn't 'high risk' MEAN likely to be the victim of foul play? They seem to interpret it as 'oh well, nobody cares'.

    • @johnnydtractive
      @johnnydtractive 6 років тому +36

      I'd like to give your comment about a thousand thumbs up. This is part of the problem behind Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls. If they are living 'high risk' lives, the cops treat them as throw-away, less than human. It's rampant in Canadian police & RCMP. So the women most likely to be hurt are the ones the cops are doing the least to protect & help.

Actually in my town the police have a designated cctv highly monitored spot in their parking area to sell/buy Craigslist or FB marketplace items, they also have an area for parents to exchange custody safely of their children. I think this is a great protocol for more area police to implement.

    Always, always follow your gut. When I was really little I was playing in the front yard alone. A man drove up to the side of the yard and tried to coax me to come towards the car from the window. He said he needed directions to the bank, I was just 7 or 8. I hesitated and felt a strong urge to stay rooted and not go near this car. My mother stepped out of the house immediately and ran towards me. The guy drove away fast. I often think what horror would have happened. Sex trafficking, rape, murder. It always stays with me...

      ZoTrAck. It seems that my absolutely negative impression of the Canadian police and justice system is shared by many, including Canadians. It is really...really what? I can't find a word to say what I want...Well, shocking. Perhaps that's the word.

      Mrs Libertas it's insane. I hope after 25 years, when they can go up for parole that that man's wife goes in front of that parole board and makes them refuse to grant them parole. I hope every single time they come up for parole she's right there.

      And the dads murder hasn't gone to trial yet I don't think. But I agree with you. I know Canadians think we Americans are too harsh with prison,but for these 2 murders in a state without the death penalty,no doubt Life w/o parole. 25 - life is laughable. This guy and his little pal need to never be around the world again

    Tim Bosma's wife said "It was just a truck." And that really resonnates with me. My Mum lost a friend in the 90s. She was living at his family's lodge at the time. He was just 21. Blonde, blue eyed, very handsome, extremely nice, fresh faced young man. Two men pretended to want to buy a second hand car from him and lured him into the forest. They shot and killed him for a piece of metal worth 50-250 bucks. It just kept raining over the days when his family and friends were searching for him. Open casket when he was finally found. His body was bloated beyond recognision from the water. His killers are most likely never going to be found. He had never got to experience having a girlfriend, getting married, and having kids of his own. My Mum was just as young when this happened, she went on to have a loving family while he was forever frozen in memory at the age of 21.

      It's called a 'faint hope clause', it exists for the sole purpose of helping to keep order inside prisons. If prisoners have no hope at all of getting out they have no reason to obey any rules. They are given good behavior points if they behave which they proudly display at their parole hearings.
