It's not so much of a rhyme as each siblings name starts with what the previous siblings name ends in. Ex. illMI --> MIlluki MilluKI --> KIllula and so forth

A fifth Zokdyck sibking was foreshadowed since the zoldyck arc with the naming convention mentioned in other comments and the guide that said there were 5 grandchildren I do think the character might have changed from what it was initially thought for but maybe not. It's developed in the next arc which is manga only but there are some hints in the last few episodes
At the time he was doing the zokdyck arc he prolly already had an idea of the ending of the chimera ant arc in mind so he added the 5th kid to have an outlet to keep the story going. It’s not far fetched for the zokdyck family to have a special kid since they were so focused on having strong kids in general

As for Alluka's gender, the common consensus is Alluka is a trans character. Killua respects her gender while the rest of the family doesn't because they don't see her as a person.
Alluka is probably intersex. Only intersex people can decide what their gender is, everyone else needs to accept what they are born as. Their family probably prefers boys, that's why they call her a boy. But yeah she is a girl if she decides she is

I don't know if Alluka's power ever gets explained. But, I like to think of it as the product of residual nen/nen after death. Think of it as all the people who the Zoldyks have assassinated hopes, dreams, and hatred manifesting in the form that is Nanika. Hence, ultimate destruction or infinite possibilities.

The photo was created for the 2011 anime and doesn't exist in the manga. So it's not a good excuse. BUT there was 2 hint in the manga... 10+ years before we knew of Alluka : 1) The manga says : "The family presently consists of five siblings..." --> Meaning a hidden one 2) Alluka's name could be guessed from the beginning, using the other sibbling names ... Killu [A llu Ka] llu to 3) Why was Alluka hidden? Surely for a big reason ---> The reason was surely thought from the beginning by Togachi. So for me, he did well with this Alluka character. It's not a convenienve for me ^^

It’s not a power that Alluka has, there’s an entity living with her called Nanika (something in Japanese) and you won’t find out where Nanika comes from unless you read the Dark Continent arc or if we ever get anymore HxH animated.

Killua doesn’t understand what he means but he absolutely right and doesnt lie to Killua at all, but since Killua considers her as family and doesn’t know/understand what’s actually going on with her he just thinks Silva is just scared of her power and wants to keep her prisoner forever…which isn’t wrong it’s just not for the reasons you think. The Zoldic’s brought this “curse” and they’ve been charged with keeping it under wraps ever since, so that’s what Silva is trying to do but he’s never even tried to understand her or help her he just kept her hidden and locked away…probably cuz that’s the only thing he knew to do. It’s all explained after the anime ends and when you find out what she actually is…it’s insane and it shatters your whole view on this world and how it works!!!! Or it did for me anyways!!! Alluka comes from nowhere, BUT, the manga creator hint about the character from episode 20-ish in 1998... but only to be revealed only 10+ years after in 2010+ As someone already said : From the beginning of HxH --> We could have guessed the name of Alluka.... that was shown only 10+ years after. The zoldick names takes the first letter of the older brother. It goes like this : From older brother to younger : i llu mi --- Mi llu ki -- Ki llu a -- ?? llu ?? -- Ka llu to --> so we can guess that the missing brother was named Alluka, from episode 20-ish. + There was the photo of the Zoldick family shown from the beginning. ... And why was Alluka hidden from the manga during 10+ years? Because of a goldy power we can imagine.... so the manga creator didn't just create a new character from nowhere here.
The amount of planning and foreshadowing that's gone into this series is incredible. Always wishing the author better health, and celebrating when new chapters of the manga come out. If I remember correctly, he already has at least 2 endings planned out. One if he has the health and time to properly build up to it, and another if he does not have the time.
One thing I thought you guys would’ve understood by this point in HxH is great power comes with great costs. Between Kurapika & Gon’s nen contracts their lives, Netero having to train for years in isolation, Meruem getting freaking nuked. So yeah, using Alluka as a “save the day” switch isn’t a good idea as the kickback would have terrible repercussions.
Not to be too spoiler-y, but Nanika's (Something's) origin opens up to the next HxH story arc (that's not even animated yet - because the manga isn't done yet). So prob not just a convenient story plot thing...
Alluka's power source (spoiler, i think?) I read a theory that after their great great great grandfather, Zigg Zoldyck, went to the dark continent, he brought with him a parasite type of creature that might have gotten into Alluka. Given that we have yet to learn much about the creatures of the dark continent and their powers, this parasite may have the ability to grant wishes, explaining the bizarre powers of Alluka.
I really like Alluka as both a character and a concept. They introduced a bunch of mystery in the anime, in it's final "arc". The anime ends with a bunch of questions about things this season introduces. It is kind of a shame.
Killua is the only member of the zoldyk family that refers to alluka as a girl and his sister. The rest of the family calls alluka he and a boy probably because alluka was born as a boy and they don't respect her enough to call her how she wants to be called
The reason that they keep switching between he and she is because Alluka was born as a male, but is trans, and everybody but Killua refuses to acknowledge her wishes
One of my only complaints about this ark is they didn’t include Maha Zoldyck they show him in a the family tree graph in the 2011 anime and in 99 seen when the ten dons die, but I wish he would have had a conversation with killua during this ark in regarding alluka. 😢😢😢
Alluka (Ai) uses Nen. Because of Illumi's needle, Killua's memory about her was probably blocked for the family's safety. Also, the needle makes Killua to run away from the "power" (nen) he doesn't know or can't win against making him avoid Alluka against his will.

The Zoldyck’s family portrait always showed Alluka walking away since in the previous arcs when the family was first introduced. This wasn’t sudden plot the writer decided to put in after writing about Gon’s condition. I believe
One major theory about Alluka is that his body was possessed by one of the great calamity from dark continent which is the AI that can grant wishes. It is possible the Zigg Zoldyck brought it from his expedition with Netero and Linne.

I don't get why anyone would think Nanika is a convenience.. It's not like it appeared out of no where and simply fixed Gon. We knew there was another member of the family that hasn't been around for some reason. The reason why she wasn't around makes sense, her system is intriguing, and we've seen a "magical" type of nen before: the fortune teller. Gon literally trespassed the limits of time and space to kill Pitou! So why would you be upset to know that someone can grant wishes for a good price.. Because it's supposed to save Gon? I really didn't care about saving Gon during this whole arc, the Zoldycks clash was what kept me watching tbh
Next up is “Haikyuu!!”! I hope you will watch it! It was made into a movie this year! By the way, I saw Alluka’s story when I was in middle school and was traumatized by her black-eyes... It seems to be ok now☺️
It's never revealed in the anime where Alluka got her abilities, and technically it's not revealed in the manga either, but it is very clearly implied what "Nanika" actually is later in the manga (after the end of the anime). SPOILER IF YOU WANT TO READ THE MANGA: - - - - - - - - - Alluka is "possessed" (it's more like a symbiosis considering Alluka and Nanika seem to like each other) by Ai, a gaseous lifeform who represent the codependency of desire. Ai comes, as Silva said, from somewhere else (the place mentioned in the very last episode of the anime if you've watched that already). And it's a being powerful enough that its species is ranked higher in level of danger than both the entirety of humanity and the Chimera Ants.
Alluka hacks ability is actually a sneak peek into the DC arc. People says it bs or bad writing, however it is cleverly place with the hints of a missing brother/sister and the abilities stem from it. Netero even said DC is hacks and would not want to go there as it is not a place where the strong prrvail but a place where you have to keep surviving each day. Thats why he didnt want to stay at DC as netero character is more of finding a worthy opponent to go toe to toe with and not die for shits and giggles just because you pissed of a bush or whatnot
I love the Phantom troupe too 😅 even more since we got their backstory in the manga. Hope it will get animated one day but don’t think so 😅 but it’s only 2 chapters so people can read it without reading the current arc of the manga
So we never get a formal explanation for how alluka got her powers in the anime but there’s a theory (minor spoiler ahead) that she is being possessed by one of the great calamities brought back from the expeditions to the dark continent.
Ill be honest I dont really care about a deus ex machina as long as the story is still written and presented well. Thats why I always liked the Lion turtle in ATLA. Plus at least it was hinted at there was another Zoldyck sibling with weird vibes around them (not showing their face in the photo)
If you only watch hxh anime, then there's a lot of things make you confused because the anime cut out the part that they are explained in the manga or just very poor explanations. If you read the manga after the anime, you will see that Alluka don't just "randomly" got this power
Nanika is from the Dark Continent, I guess. That's what the next arc was supposed to be about. That's where Ging was trying to go. You see, this show's setting is more like a flat Earth than a round one, and the world they live in is just a tiny fraction of the entire world. Even the Chimera ants came from the dark continent. My guess is that when two powerful nen users mate, they summon some sort of monster from the Dark Continent, hence Nanika.
Alluka is a girl but because she was born a male and since the rest of the family doesn't care for her they refer to her as "brother" or "he." Killua is the only one who loves Alluka so he addresses her in the right pronouns.
got some info you guys might wanna hear. its a spoiler but it does tie into why alluka exists and where she might be from. should read this after u guys finish hunter (info below) ai is one of the 5 currently discovered disasters from the dark continent, one of these disasters were the chimera ants. there is a disaster called ai from there and it has the same powers as alluka. its stated every time a group ventures to the dark continent, they have to bring a disaster with them home. grandpa of zeno zigg zoldyck had ventured to the dark continent iirc and when they came back they likely brought back ai. ( ai is also the thing she says when she grants a wish. (okay in japanese = ai)
I wanna point out a couple of things people get wrong about this arc and Nanika's existence. The reason why we never knew about Alluka/Nanika is because the Zoldyck family, INCLUDING Killua, wants to keep her a secret to the rest of the world. The reason being is obvious, if powerful people knew of an all powerful ability such as wish granting, they would stop at nothing to obtain this power. This explains why Killua has never mentioned her until this point. Even with everyone who isn't a Zoldyck to this point, Killua has only said "I will heal Gon" but never goes into details. This also explains why Killua did not use Alluka to kill Meruem/the chimera ants. Before they raided the palace, no one from the palace invasion squad knew just how powerful Meruem was. Gon and Killua witnessed Pitou's strength first hand, but even then, it seemed like there was a possibility of them defeating Pitou/the king without having to use Alluka and reveal her to the world. If they used Alluka, even in secret, there would be tons of relentless questions asked by everyone who knew of this chimera ant threat about how they got rid of them in a flash. I think Alluka/Nanika is a great addition to this world, and without going into spoilers of this story, Nanika's existence makes much more sense if you read the story past the anime adaptation.
On Alluka's gender. It isn't said explicitly, but, Alluka referes to herself with feminine pronouns along with Killua, while the rest of their family refers to her a male. So filling in those blanks it is assumed that she's probably trans.

Now that we're at this part I can talk about something Togashi has done with some characters. He plays a lot with gender. Many characters are androgynous and some hint towards transgenderism. Characters like Kite doesn't have pronouns in the show. It's always Kite. And seeing the Kid that's with the ant, that is heavily implied to be Kite, is now a girl. Or Pitou it actually referred to as "He" one time, every other time is his name. Or our Octopus friend, he has always wished to be a squid instead. Now we are here with Killia's little brother. We will see that he has a very feminine character design. It's really cool

Silva isn’t wrong, he’s actually spot on!! Killua doesn’t understand what he means but he absolutely right and doesnt lie to Killua at all, but since Killua considers her as family and doesn’t know/understand what’s actually going on with her he just thinks Silva is just scared of her power and wants to keep her prisoner forever…which isn’t wrong it’s just not for the reasons you think. The Zoldic’s brought this “curse” and they’ve been charged with keeping it under wraps ever since, so that’s what Silva is trying to do but he’s never even tried to understand her or help her he just kept her hidden and locked away…probably cuz that’s the only thing he knew to do. It’s all explained after the anime ends and when you find out what she actually is…it’s insane and it shatters your whole view on this world and how it works!!!! Or it did for me anyways!!! You think the ant king was strong and unbeatable you have no idea what’s coming next, the anime ends b4 it tells you but it’s setting up something much worse then the ant king!! God I hope they release some new chapters soon!!!!! Cuz I gotta know what happens next!!!

The zoldick names takes the first letter of the older brother. It goes like this : From older brother to younger :

--> so we can guess that the missing brother was named Alluka, from episode 20-ish. + There was the photo of the Zoldick family shown from the beginning.
... And why was Alluka hidden from the manga during 10+ years? Because of a goldy power we can imagine.... so the manga creator didn't just create a new character from nowhere here.

If I remember correctly, he already has at least 2 endings planned out. One if he has the health and time to properly build up to it, and another if he does not have the time.
One thing I thought you guys would’ve understood by this point in HxH is great power comes with great costs. Between Kurapika & Gon’s nen contracts their lives, Netero having to train for years in isolation, Meruem getting freaking nuked.
So yeah, using Alluka as a “save the day” switch isn’t a good idea as the kickback would have terrible repercussions.

Not to be too spoiler-y, but Nanika's (Something's) origin opens up to the next HxH story arc (that's not even animated yet - because the manga isn't done yet). So prob not just a convenient story plot thing...

I read a theory that after their great great great grandfather, Zigg Zoldyck, went to the dark continent, he brought with him a parasite type of creature that might have gotten into Alluka. Given that we have yet to learn much about the creatures of the dark continent and their powers, this parasite may have the ability to grant wishes, explaining the bizarre powers of Alluka.
This is a top 3 arc for sure
I really like Alluka as both a character and a concept. They introduced a bunch of mystery in the anime, in it's final "arc". The anime ends with a bunch of questions about things this season introduces. It is kind of a shame.
Killua is the only member of the zoldyk family that refers to alluka as a girl and his sister. The rest of the family calls alluka he and a boy probably because alluka was born as a boy and they don't respect her enough to call her how she wants to be called
The reason that they keep switching between he and she is because Alluka was born as a male, but is trans, and everybody but Killua refuses to acknowledge her wishes

One of my only complaints about this ark is they didn’t include Maha Zoldyck they show him in a the family tree graph in the 2011 anime and in 99 seen when the ten dons die, but I wish he would have had a conversation with killua during this ark in regarding alluka. 😢😢😢

Alluka (Ai) uses Nen. Because of Illumi's needle, Killua's memory about her was probably blocked for the family's safety. Also, the needle makes Killua to run away from the "power" (nen) he doesn't know or can't win against making him avoid Alluka against his will.
Alluka was foreshadowed in the middle of the Chimera Ant Arc.

Togashi could've easily not made Gon's situation this desperate and just made him lose his Nen and the story would've worked, so no it's not Deus ex machina. It's probably more that he made Gon's situation like this so that he can introduce Alluka and not Vice verse. Also Alluka's existed was hinted at before and shown in a picture.
The Zoldyck’s family portrait always showed Alluka walking away since in the previous arcs when the family was first introduced. This wasn’t sudden plot the writer decided to put in after writing about Gon’s condition. I believe

One major theory about Alluka is that his body was possessed by one of the great calamity from dark continent which is the AI that can grant wishes. It is possible the Zigg Zoldyck brought it from his expedition with Netero and Linne.

Look at how Alluka is treated by the butlers, dresses her as a girl because she is a girl. Otherwise, the family would have made it a point to make her appear as a boy. But they don't. If she were a boy and wished to be treated as a girl, the family would have denied that. But she is an actual girl and the family don't need to force her to dress up as a boy.

Alluka is trans... born male identifying as female... because as Silva said "don't think of that thing as family" its shown that they refuse to respect her pronouns... however the key part is THEY DO accept Kalluto as she too is trans and respected and even encouraged by the family... its a peek into the family dynamic if you notice...

It’s interesting that they think Alluka is here only because the author needed a way to save Gon, when her origin is part of future events.

I don't get why anyone would think Nanika is a convenience.. It's not like it appeared out of no where and simply fixed Gon. We knew there was another member of the family that hasn't been around for some reason. The reason why she wasn't around makes sense, her system is intriguing, and we've seen a "magical" type of nen before: the fortune teller. Gon literally trespassed the limits of time and space to kill Pitou! So why would you be upset to know that someone can grant wishes for a good price.. Because it's supposed to save Gon? I really didn't care about saving Gon during this whole arc, the Zoldycks clash was what kept me watching tbh

Alluka is "possessed" (it's more like a symbiosis considering Alluka and Nanika seem to like each other) by Ai, a gaseous lifeform who represent the codependency of desire. Ai comes, as Silva said, from somewhere else (the place mentioned in the very last episode of the anime if you've watched that already). And it's a being powerful enough that its species is ranked higher in level of danger than both the entirety of humanity and the Chimera Ants.
Alluka hacks ability is actually a sneak peek into the DC arc. People says it bs or bad writing, however it is cleverly place with the hints of a missing brother/sister and the abilities stem from it. Netero even said DC is hacks and would not want to go there as it is not a place where the strong prrvail but a place where you have to keep surviving each day. Thats why he didnt want to stay at DC as netero character is more of finding a worthy opponent to go toe to toe with and not die for shits and giggles just because you pissed of a bush or whatnot

So we never get a formal explanation for how alluka got her powers in the anime but there’s a theory (minor spoiler ahead) that she is being possessed by one of the great calamities brought back from the expeditions to the dark continent.
Ill be honest I dont really care about a deus ex machina as long as the story is still written and presented well. Thats why I always liked the Lion turtle in ATLA. Plus at least it was hinted at there was another Zoldyck sibling with weird vibes around them (not showing their face in the photo)
If you only watch hxh anime, then there's a lot of things make you confused because the anime cut out the part that they are explained in the manga or just very poor explanations. If you read the manga after the anime, you will see that Alluka don't just "randomly" got this power

Nanika is from the Dark Continent, I guess. That's what the next arc was supposed to be about. That's where Ging was trying to go. You see, this show's setting is more like a flat Earth than a round one, and the world they live in is just a tiny fraction of the entire world. Even the Chimera ants came from the dark continent. My guess is that when two powerful nen users mate, they summon some sort of monster from the Dark Continent, hence Nanika.

ai is one of the 5 currently discovered disasters from the dark continent, one of these disasters were the chimera ants. there is a disaster called ai from there and it has the same powers as alluka. its stated every time a group ventures to the dark continent, they have to bring a disaster with them home. grandpa of zeno zigg zoldyck had ventured to the dark continent iirc and when they came back they likely brought back ai. ( ai is also the thing she says when she grants a wish. (okay in japanese = ai)

I wanna point out a couple of things people get wrong about this arc and Nanika's existence.
The reason why we never knew about Alluka/Nanika is because the Zoldyck family, INCLUDING Killua, wants to keep her a secret to the rest of the world. The reason being is obvious, if powerful people knew of an all powerful ability such as wish granting, they would stop at nothing to obtain this power. This explains why Killua has never mentioned her until this point. Even with everyone who isn't a Zoldyck to this point, Killua has only said "I will heal Gon" but never goes into details. This also explains why Killua did not use Alluka to kill Meruem/the chimera ants. Before they raided the palace, no one from the palace invasion squad knew just how powerful Meruem was. Gon and Killua witnessed Pitou's strength first hand, but even then, it seemed like there was a possibility of them defeating Pitou/the king without having to use Alluka and reveal her to the world. If they used Alluka, even in secret, there would be tons of relentless questions asked by everyone who knew of this chimera ant threat about how they got rid of them in a flash. I think Alluka/Nanika is a great addition to this world, and without going into spoilers of this story, Nanika's existence makes much more sense if you read the story past the anime adaptation.

On Alluka's gender. It isn't said explicitly, but, Alluka referes to herself with feminine pronouns along with Killua, while the rest of their family refers to her a male. So filling in those blanks it is assumed that she's probably trans.

Now that we're at this part I can talk about something Togashi has done with some characters. He plays a lot with gender. Many characters are androgynous and some hint towards transgenderism. Characters like Kite doesn't have pronouns in the show. It's always Kite. And seeing the Kid that's with the ant, that is heavily implied to be Kite, is now a girl. Or Pitou it actually referred to as "He" one time, every other time is his name. Or our Octopus friend, he has always wished to be a squid instead. Now we are here with Killia's little brother. We will see that he has a very feminine character design. It's really cool
